Career Fair Assignment

...Career Fair Assignment 1. I initially heard about the career fair via email. However, unlike what I’ve heard from a lot of students, I do pay close attention to all of my emails. A few other ways I was informed about the career fair were postings in classrooms, mentions from professors, assignments from professors, and information tables in the courtyard. As the career fair drew closer, I noticed the students at the information table to be much more interactive. I also saw the career fair information on the Rosen website. 2. I believe the marketing was very effective. I heard about it in all of my classes and in numerous email communications as well as the information booth. I would assume that most students knew about it. I’m not sure that most students wanted to go, but anyone I spoke to knew when and where it was happening. 3. From what I heard, the planners did a great job finding exhibitors as there was even some that were turned down. I’m not sure what communications were done to reach exhibitors but I think making a flyer that quickly relayed statistics regarding how many students sign up each year, including how many graduating seniors, and other companies that have committed to the career fair. To attract more students, I think the planners need to find ways to make it seem less intimidating and help students to feel more prepared and confident. I know this year they did some informative sessions but those also take time to go to and most students have...

...Career Plan Reflection Paper B/COMM 275 Oct 6, 2014 Steven Johnson Career Plan Reflection The My Career Plan program and individual assignments were intended to help me develop a strategy for my career goals. The process revealed my career interests, competencies, work culture preferences, and thinking style. It also helped me identify strengths and weaknesses that will be key throughout my career. My interest profiler results were realistic, conventional, and social. Although I did not agree with most of the job titles listed, I definitely identified with the interests. Realistic occupations regularly involve practical activities, hands-on problems, and solutions. Conventional occupations follow set procedures and routines, and social occupations work with, communicate with, and teach people. The BCOM/275 program has provided me with many practical applications I can use to attain my career interest goals. During the career competencies exercise, I received 4 of 5 marks in the areas of adapting to change, writing, and logical thinking. I received only 3 of 5 marks for organizing, strategizing, delivering results. Although the exercise helped me validate traits I “thought I had,” it also made me realize there is much I need to improve. My work culture preference results were ethical, high powered, and supportive. These outcomes revealed my desire to be in a demanding, secure, and fair work environment that promotes personal development and...

Assessment as an Integral Part of Career Counseling

...Assessment for Career Counselor Name: Lecturer: Course Name: Date Assessment for Career Counselor Introduction Career assessment is a process of assessing a person’s interests, skills, personality traits, and values. A person can discover what career suits them best by taking an assessment. If a person’s scores are high in all the areas of assessment, they are assured the job suits them. A career evaluation process involves completing career assessments. These assessments are usually administered by a career counselor. The assessments are not tests since there are no right or wrong answers. The assessment allows a person to see their scores in various careers based on how they answer questions regarding their interests, skills, values and personality traits. Most people use this as a means to make solid career choices (Deborah, 2013). Process of Assessment Standardization is a way to establish uniform procedures to be used in an assessment. Assessment results should be as objective as possible in order to be considered valid and meaningful. Standardized assessment can be ensured by procedures before, during and after testing. (American Speech- Language-Hearing Association, 2015) Before Testing Test developers should provide evidence of what the test measures and the strengths and limitations of the test including the level of precision of test scores. The content and skills that are to be tested are selected and the tests are developed. The students should well prepared...
