Career and Salary Opportunities after College

Does earning a college degree promise you higher pay and better job opportunities? This question is on everyone’s lips. Why go to college, invest a lot of money, and then not be promised a good paying job once you’re out off college? It seems that it should be obvious that the more education you receive, the better job and more money you will have in the future; however, this may not always be the case, so one must analyze two different areas in order to have the best chances of a good paying job. Career choice and type of degree are both factors when it comes to receiving a good job and higher pay after college.

First it is important to know, or at least have a good idea, what career you want to have. Thanks to the internet, it is really easy to look online for different career opportunities that would best fit you. You can even take online quizzes that might help you to determine what career you should have if you are undecided. You can analyze what career choices sound appealing and also see which ones are rising in our country. According to William McGuiness at Huffington Post, “while college-educated Americans are less likely to collect unemployment, many of the jobs they do have aren't worth the price of their diplomas.” What they are saying is that once a person knows their career and they receive their diploma, they are not making enough money to cover their student loans. Unfortunately, there are certain careers that are on their way out. Some of these, according to Forbes.com are, “sewing machine operators, engine assemblers, machine tool setters, home appliance repairers and textile knitting machine operators.” It is important to analyze the career you want to make sure it will still be around when you get out of college.
