...With the progress of science and technology, the cars have already become an important part in our daily life. It is known as a vehicle with four wheels and it contains an engine and that is used to move from one place to another smoothly and quickly. The cars are one of many very useful transportation methods; it gives the freedom to travel to anywhere and on anytime. In this essay I will compare and contrast this transportation method between the past generation and the present generation. This essay will focus on three key areas – engine, safety and technology. The first area that this essay will consider is about cars engine, the most importance thing in the car is the engine which it is the thing that makes the car move. In the past, the people were just wanted a car to reach them from point A to point B, so the car engine was so simple. For instance, the mechanical engineer Karl Benz created the first car engine which it called (Benz’s engine), the automobile was motorized by a 0.75-hp one-cylinder four-stroke gasoline engine. Furthermore, the speed of car was just 16 km/h (10 mph) (1). Besides, it was not need a lot of energy and it caused lots of pollution. With the technological advances; in current generation the car’s engine is working the basic principle like in the past by air and fuel combustion to create a rotational force and move the car, but the modern cars engine has become more developed....

...Lotus Rental company has been a leader in car rental world. As the competition in the rental world rises with more exotic and fuel efficient vehicles being integrated to all rental fleets; hybrid vehicles become a priority. With their fuel efficiency being higher than that ever compared to standard fuel vehicles, the demand rises for the new better fuel efficiency vehicles. Hybrids car are averaging from 35-55 miles per gallon, compared to 25-35 in standard vehicles. Toyota has been a leader in hybrid car world with prime contender the Prius. The Prius is a moderately priced four door car than averages about 40 or more miles per gallon. Prius comes in four variations: Prius, Prius c, Prius Plug-in, and Prius v, they are all over the 40 mile per gallon but; the Prius Plug-in comes with a 98 mile per gallon range. Charging time for the Plug-in model is about 3 hours and the capability of still being able to use the hybrid mode after the electric mode with an EPA rated 50 miles per gallon. Toyota also offers luxury and full size sedans that are hybrids with better fuel efficiency than its competitors; for example Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, and Lexus. With their cars averaging from low $20k to $50k which is way below their competitors, it is easy for the Lotus Rental Company to invest in these vehicles while keeping down costs. ...Even if you can perform most of the work yourself, it's still going to cost you a tidy five-figure sum to buy the necessary parts, materials and paint supplies needed to transform an old car from a worn-out relic to a dazzling show beauty. If you've decided to restore a particular old car because you have a longstanding attachment to that model and are not concerned about its value or whether parts can be easily found, then we applaud you--that mindset should be the primary focus of this great hobby of ours. However, if you enjoy old car restoration but prefer your projects to be easy and relatively cheap to do--with, perhaps, the added bonus of making a few dollars on it when it's done--then these are the cars you should consider for your next venture. Of course, the majority of these cars won't make you stand apart from the crowd at a show or cruise-in, but you will be able to complete their restoration far faster and a whole lot cheaper than if you chose a car that was rare, or had only been made for a few years. Another factor to consider is the actual purchase price of the car. While some of the cars listed here can be bought for around $5,000, others will cost four times as much even if they're basket cases--but keep in mind that those higher-priced cars will also bring four times the money when sold, so it kind of equals out....

...Cars One of the most important steps in becoming an adult is your first car. When you have a car, you don’t need to rely on other people for rides to and from where you want to go. You also learn a great deal, thus making you a more responsible person. I live in Putney, a small town in southeastern Vermont, but I worked and went to school in Brattleboro. Brattleboro is a slightly larger town about a half an hour south of Putney. Since we had to keep stopping to pick up kids, the bus ride to school took an hour. As such, I had to get up a half hour earlier on days I had to ride the bus. That was a huge pain, especially since I hated the bus anyway. After I got my car, I could sleep in. I could also go out to lunch when I was at school, therefore being able to eat where I wanted, and not in the cafeteria. In addition, I could drive myself home after school. That was beneficial because I could hang out with my friends, and go to concerts and movies. I could do whatever I wanted, as long as I made sure my parents were okay with it. My social life improved greatly with the acquisition of my car. If I hadn’t had my car, I could not have worked where I did. I worked at a Lebanese restaurant in downtown Brattleboro. Part of my job was rolling grape leaves in the wholesale department on Mondays and Tuesdays. The job was great, but I never really knew when I was going to be finished. In wholesale, you work until you’re done....

...When asked about a car, most people think of transportation, a way to get from point A to point B, but to me my car serves as a shield. A shield that allows me to separate myself from problems and the stress that sneaks into my daily life. For ten minutes in the morning every weekday, I strap myself inside this shield. I don’t stress over a math problem. I don’t read about the issues going on in our society today. I turn the radio on in my car and although it’s tempting, I don’t think about anything but the road and the music. Strapped inside this shield with nothing but the radio on and the open road in front of me; I am content. A common issue most people face is the lack of time they have during the day to enjoy their life away from work and struggle. I know my mind is constantly running, thinking about the events in my day’s agenda and how on earth I’m going to accomplish all of them by sundown. Most people use every opportunity they have during the day to complete their work, so they do not have to bring it home with them. This is why you see people texting while they are driving, or sending an email in the middle of traffic. So that when they go home they have one thing less to worry about, and have more time to enjoy their time away from work. The bizarre thing is my mind seems to come to a halt when I step inside my car. Any thought related to work or stress is eliminated. The unfinished work finds it’s way into my trunk....

...The ad should tie in with my theme throughout the year, namely the ad should be aimed at selling the Giulietta as a family car for real people. Thirty seconds is such a short time that I am going to be quite definite in my target audience. My advert will be targeted at women and small-to-established families where I believe the Giulietta fits perfectly. These modern women are conventional but each has a strong independent inner voice and also likes to do their own thing. I am going to make an advert that sells the Alfa Romeo Giulietta as a family car for women who want to have it all. Women who want to do the “family thing” but who really do not want to lose their identity as a “Real Person”. Women who want to immerse the precious years between 30 and 45 in their families, careers and interests that make them happy. Women who are dynamic, who value their friendships, freedom and independence and who take on life’s challenges with strength and poise. It is hard to summarise my favorite practical features in our much loved Giulietta but for the purposes of the advert I will focus on the the features I believe women (and men) value highly today. I have spoken to so many people in the past year about what they look for in a car and I believe Safety, Space, Style, Price and Reliability are the most important features they look for in a car. The effects of the Irish and global financial crisis meant we are all increasingly cost conscious....

...Harvard, Favorite books The novel Black Like Me was the most stimulating book I have recently read. I was taken aback by the cruelty the narrator experienced when he was black compared to the hospitality he found as a white man. Possessing the same occupation, clothing, wealth, speech, and identity did not matter when his skin was another color. Given that this was a non-fictional piece, my reaction was even stronger. The book made me favor equality of opportunity for all in every endeavor so others' opinions of them are based on performance, not preconceptions. Harvard, Favorite teacher I selected Mr. (name) because he taught me more than U.S. History; he taught me how to think independently. This wasn't done only to prepare me for the free-response section of the A.P. test, either. I know he did it to make his students responsible citizens and responsible adults. From the outset, he wanted to make sure that we knew how we stood in our political philosophy: strict constructionists or loose constructionists. He wanted to make sure that we didn't gravitate towards empty categories like liberal or conservative, but rather focused on issues separately whenever we needed to take a stand on them. Imagine my surprise when I, the son of two very conservative parents who constantly bombarded me with their rhetoric, discovered that I had strong liberal tendencies on some issues. Aside from political affiliations, Mr. (name) taught us how to make sense out of history by trying...
