Bill Young was new an all-around mechanic and electrician that were recently hired by the hospital. He had no supervisor experience at all, but he did have 15 years’ experience in at his craft. As soon as he was hired a maintenance helper position became available. Young asked Human resource for help on finding candidates for the job. Being that Young he had little experience interviewing, his chief supervisor officer decided to sit in on the interview to help out. There were 5 candidates for interviewing; and 2 who were qualified for the job. One person, Simmons, worked in food services with experience and was trying to improve or better himself. The other person, Kelly, did not have any previous experience but did work in building and grounds at a school. Jackson the chief supervisor decided to Hire Kelly, without very much thought and decided to communicate the job offer to Kelly personally. He told Young that he could do the hiring the next time. After weeks of no progression, Kelly was turning out to be a bad hire. Young went to Jackson to inform him that after all the training and benefit of a doubt that the hire Kelly was not going to work. Jackson told Young to fire Kelly even though he made the decision to hire him.
1) Do you believe that Jackson Dodged responsibility by ordering Young to get rid of Kelly? Why? Or why Not?
-Yes I do think that Jackson dodge the responsibility. He hired Kelly even though he asked Young to find a candidate and then he was too much of a coward to fire him. Usually if a manager does not want to deal with firing an employee they would refer hat employee to human resource. This is what Jackson should have suggested that young do. This is not show leadership. Young is a new supervisor and if he needed help hiring a new employee and of course he would need help letting an employee go for the first time.

...The Forgotten Group Member Case Study There are five stages of team development, forming, storming, norming, performing, and the adjourning stage. The forming stage is the first stage of team development. During this stage, the team members start to get to know each other, they ask lots of questions to get to know each other, determining what the real task is of the team, and defining the group rules. During the storming stage, hostility sometimes occurs and the team experiences many changes. At this point, the individuals that make up the team begin to understand one another’s interpersonal styles and they try to determine ways to accomplish the team goals, while still satisfying their individual needs. The norming stage of team development is when the members really start to come together as a coordinated team and team members now try to maintain a positive balance. Next is the performing stage marks the emergence of a well functioning team. Team members now can deal with complex tasks and are able to handle internal disagreements in creative ways and the individuals in the team are motivated by team goals.
