Big Spaceship is a digital marketing agency and its name is usually associated with numerous awards for its work with big brands such as Coca-Cola, Nike, HBO, and Miramax. However, the company’s size is relatively small compared to its achievements. Using a set of strategies and management skills, Big Spaceship established its uniqueness and superiority within its respective field. Its strategies include rising further than the assignments handed to them, look at the big picture, and a bidding process (Client “Filter”). Its management skills include finding and nurturing talent, creating a suitable culture, and developing an effective leadership team. With these put together, Big Spaceship established a solid foundation for it to become a great, leading company in the digital marketing industry.
One major factor for the success was Big Spaceship’s 5 elements of strategy are quite different from other companies in the respective field. Its arenas include creating cutting-edge websites for marketing usages and developing interactive marketing properties, focusing on the big picture (goes for a USD2 million project than ten USD200,000 projects), rising further in the projects than assumed, and set in Brooklyn (DUMBO district). Its vehicles include internal growth - by nurturing talents they find - and not making acquisitions or joint ventures. What differentiates Big Spaceship from other companies is that they have the aforementioned client “filter”, meaning that they don’t take every project handed to them. They also created an environment in which work and play were connected – free breakfast, free snacks, and Big Spaceship Olympics. With these two combined, workers entered a work area where as an entry-level producer of Big

Cluster Analysis

...Session Nine (Lab): Cluster Analysis MART 307 Assignment Four: Cluster Analysis 1. T When looking at the Agglomeration Schedule for Wards linkage for the last 10 clusters, the difference between coefficients of stage 162 and 16(Cluster #2) is 352.72. The difference between the coefficients of stage 161 and 160(Cluster#3) is 304.538. The difference between the coefficients of stage 160 and 159(Cluster#4) is 177.043. When looking at the chart, there is a biggest jump between clusters 3 and 4, indicating that there is a biggest difference between those two clusters. This is backed up by the Dendrogram as shown to the left, when putting a straight line through the longest horizontal lines; the line is cut by three clusters. Also, when looking at the Ward Scree Plot, the biggest kink is at 3 as shown by the arrow above which shows an abrupt change in angle (elbow.) Which indicates the 3rd cluster being more unique than the forth. The single linkage message also shows we should use 3 clusters, because looking at the Dendrogram, if we put a line through the longest horizontal distances it would be cut at 3 points. I would choose Wards method over Single Linkage because it is much clearer, the dendogram has much clearer clusters and there are fewer clusters. The agglomeration schedule is easier to figure out 2) 1 means not at all considered 2 unlikely to consider 3 would possibly consider 4 would actively consider 5 already do As shown in the Initial Cluster...

“Leadership and Organizational Behavior”

...Jeffrey P.Bezos : An entrepreneur leader Jeff Bezos was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and from an early age he showed his mechanical attitude developing intense and varied scientific interests. Considering this fact, his parents sent him to a special program for gifted children, where Jeff could develop his love for gadgets (Byers, 2006). When his family moved to Florida, he discovered his ‘great passion’, computers, so he abandoned his studies in Physics and got a degree on Computer science and Electrical engineering (Sherman, 2001). After his studies, Jeff Bezos started working for Bankers Trust, and at the age of 26 he became the youngest Vice President of the company (Byers, 2006). When he noticed in 1994 that internet usage was increasing by 2300% a year (Hämäläinen & Saarinen, 2007), he started planning his next step, which was Amazon.com. Amazon made his appearance in 1995 with 3 micro stations in Bezos’ garage (Robinson, 2009) and its activity was to sell books. Today Amazon.com is one of the most preferable internet retail platform, where customers can find DVD’s, CD’s, MP3 downloads, books and toys. According to Economist (2000), Amazon.com is the most visited internet retail platform in USA and one of the top 3 in Germany, UK, France and Japan. The impact of Amazon.com Amazon.com is today the largest electronic retail worldwide (Anon., 2012). According to J. Bezos (Wired Magazine, December, 2011), Amazon is a cultural pioneer which lives to disrupt...

Fundamentals of Design

...we were young; so we invented them! What are you doing for the next generation?"1 This book is about helping people to learn how to create their own future! It does this by taking advantage of the fact that the reader’s LEFT brain sees the LEFT side (FUN) of the book. The RIGHT brain sees the (MENTAL) side of the book. Its simply FUNdaMENTAL! This in itself is a key feature of this book: It seeks to train the brain to think by many a link. Creating things is NOT done by following a monotonous recipe... The ability to create can be learned by anyone who has a yearn to learn! But the eye must be quick to sort and pick! Embedded inside, many a hidden creative message may reside! In fact, design is a like a big box of LEGOSTM from which you want to pick pieces to build a toy spaceship: if you just pick from the top layer, you might not get a very interesting model. Turn over the box and scan through all the pieces! Better yet, if you either have the pieces organized into bins, or are aware of all the types that exist, you can...

Analyzing Film

...up the whole to discover the nature proportion, function, and interrelationships of the parts” (Boggs and Petrie, 2008). Final Fantasy, the first CGI (computer generated image) film featuring synthetic human actors, opens with its protagonist, Dr. Aki Ross, surveying her barren, alien surroundings. Aki wakes from the recurring dream and looks out at earth from the window of her spaceship. As the music swells, our heroine wonders if she will be able to save the world from the “phantom” spirits that have invaded it. Two scenes later, we learn that the phantoms also have infected Aki, effectively linking the fate of the devastated planet with that of a beautiful, young though entirely computer-generated into a female body. I’m introducing the film by way of Aki’s dubiously raced, female body for two reasons. First, Hironobu Sakaguchi, its creator, director and producer has made it clear in press releases and the supplemental documentary on the special edition DVD that the film functions as a showcase for the protagonist. “Identifying the theme can be considered both the beginning and the end of film analysis” (Boggs and Petrie, 2008). According to Sakaguchi, Aki represents his mother (the two share the same name) and his coming to terms with her death (Pham, 2001). Second and more to the point of my essay, critical reception of the film places strong emphasis on the character, which often is treated as a metonym for the film itself. This relationship works for the most part. Both...

...the Victorian splendors of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, to the east, and a pretty five-story residential block, to the west. This is One Hyde Park, which its developers insist is the world’s most exclusive address and the most expensive residential development ever built anywhere on earth. With apartments selling for up to $214 million, the building began to smash world per-square-foot price records when sales opened, in 2007. After quickly shrugging off the global financial crisis the complex has come to embody the central-London real-estate market, where, as high-end property consultant Charles McDowell put it, “prices have gone bonkers.” From the Hyde Park side, One Hyde Park protrudes aggressively into the skyline like a visiting spaceship, a head above its red-brick and gray-stone Victorian surroundings. Inside, on the ground floor, a large, glassy lobby offers what you’d expect from any luxury intercontinental hotel: gleaming steel statues, thick gray carpets, gray marble,...

The Mystery Behind the Spiritual Alien Agenda

...The Mystery Behind the Spiritual Alien Agenda Beryl King 12 March 2012 The Search for Earth-like Planets December 5, 2011 must have been an exciting day for astronomers all over the world as NASA announced to the public the discovery of an Earth-like planet potentially able to support life. The planet, 2.4 times the size of the Earth, is six hundred light-years away in what astronomers call the “Goldilocks Zone”, an area in which a planet has an ideal temperature because of its distance from a star. It orbits around a star similar to the sun of the Earth, and the temperature of its surface is habitable at 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Scientists are hopeful that this planet might possess water and land, but they are not sure as of the moment if the majority of it is made up of solid, liquid or gas (Bloxham). Kepler 22-b is just one of the extrasolar planets observed by NASA that has a probability to be inhabited by extraterrestrial life forms. Since 1960, NASA has funded different exobiology projects, including Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI), in hopes that astronomers can find evidences of life in outer space. Thinking that extraterrestrials would likely leave something behind to signal other intelligent beings during their exploration, astronomers of SETI previously tried to detect interstellar probes to be able send messages back to them, but until now, none have been discovered. Despite this, scientists working on SETI have not given up, focusing more on...

...Titan Industries Titan Industries is the organization that brought about a paradigm shift in the Indian watch market when it introduced its futuristic quartz technology, complemented by international styling. With India's two most recognized and loved brands Titan and Tanishq to its credit, Titan Industries is the fifth largest integrated watch manufacturer in the world. The success story began in 1984 with a joint venture between the Tata Group and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation. Presenting Titan quartz watches that sported an international look, Titan Industries transformed the Indian watch market. After Sonata, a value brand of functionally styled watches at affordable prices, Titan Industries reached out to the youth segment with Fastrack, its third brand, trendy and chic. The company has sold 135million watches world over and manufactures 13 million watches every year. With a license for premium fashion watches of global brands, Titan Industries repeated its pioneering act and brought international brands into Indian market. Tommy Hilfiger and FCUK as well as the Swiss made watch – Xylys owe their presence in Indian market to Titan Industries. Entering the largely fragmented Indian jewellery market with no known brands in 1995, Titan Industries launched Tanishq, India’s most trusted and fastest growing jewellery brand. Gold Plus, the later addition, focuses on the preferences of semi-urban and rural India. Completing the jewellery portfolio is Zoya...

...2 The Individual and Organizational Purchase Abstract Downstream of the sector, passengers buy air tickets for private or business use. Upstream, companies buy planes, equipment and services. Further upstream, plane or satellite manufacturers-integrators also buy components from their suppliers. Understanding the needs and the processes of upstream or downstream buying is the basis of marketing. This means analyzing the individual psychological, sociocultural and psychosocial factors which enter into the buying decision. The purchase context influences the buyer’s behavior. An analysis of buying behavior is also essential in Business to Business, where the purchase is not made for an individual but for a company, involving a variable number of people. To be more commercially efficient, the supplier must take into account the special nature of the industrial purchase, in particular the specific nature of the buying center, the buying process and buying situations. First we will look at the individual purchase and then the Business to Business purchase. 2.1 The Individual Purchase 2.1.1 Factors Influencing Buying Behavior Most models present factors influencing buying behavior in a hierarchical and simplified way. In fact, this classification in terms of importance of the factors depends for the most part on the context.1 For example in Muslim countries the power of religion is very important and almost certainly dominates other factors such as...
