Analisis Situasi

• Atlantic Computer adalah sebuah perusahaan manufaktur komputer server terbesar dan produk lain yang berteknologi tinggi, juga memiliki pangsa pendapatan sebesar 20% di segmen server berkinerja akhir tinggi. Server yang memiliki performa tinggi, yaitu “Radia” telah dijual kepada perusahaan besar dan telah dikenal akan kualitas dan reliabilitasnya serta memiliki layanan pasca penjualan yang baik.
• Oleh karena adanya perkembangan di dunia internet, permintaan akan BS (Basic Servers) meningkat secara drastic; untuk memenuhi permintaan tersebut, perusahaan sedang merencanakan untuk memperkenalkan sebuah serve (BS), yaitu TRONN dengan software khusus “PESA” yang dapat meningkatkan tingkat efisiensi dari server tersebut hingga kurang lebih empat kali lebih cepat.
• Mengenai kondisi competitor, yaitu “Ontario” dengan produknya yang dikenal dengan sebutan “ZINK” telah lama berada di segmen dasar dan memiliki hampir 50% pangsa pasar di pendapatan dan produk. Untuk kinerjanya, “ZINK” memiliki kemampuan yang sama dan sejajar dengan pesaingnya “TRONN”. Jason Jowers memiliki rencana untuk meluncurkan produk TRONN agar tetap dapat terjaga di dalam pikirannya, sedangkan ancaman terbesar datang dari kompetitornya, yaitu Ontario dimana sebagian besar pendapatannya berasal dari bisnis online.

Hasil analisis tes BETA

• Basic Server-TRONN dengan PESA dapat mencapai 4 kali lebih cepat dari tipe standarnya.
• Kinerja = 4 BS, Jadi meskipun kita berikan harga lebih mahal daripada tipe BS yang standar tetap saja untuk biaya jangka panjangnya akan lebih rendah.

Segi Marketing TRONN + PESA

• Dari Exhibit 2, dapat kita simpulkan bahwa sebagian besar penggunaan “TRONN” dan “PESA” lebih dimanfaatkan di segmen Web Servers (300 %) , File Sharing (100%) and e-mail applications (10%).
• Strategi Marketing yang masih kurang efisien karena masih berfokus pada dari divisi Hardware saja tanpa menekankan secara khusus terhadap produk software perawatan servernya yang handal, yaitu “PESA”. Hal tersebut ditandai dengan tindakan dari para tenaga penjualannya yang tidak menjelaskan secara rinci akan kelebihan dari software “PESA” tersebut bahkan mereka sekedar memberikannya secara langsung dan gratis. Hal ini semestinya dapat menjadi salah satu kunci indikator dari strategi marketing, dimana harus ada hal yang membedakan dari para pesaingnya.
• Menurut analisis dari cost plus pricing, harga dari satu unit “TRONN” BS dan “PESA” sebesar $2,245.51; dapat dilihat di lampiran bagian A

Keunggulan-keunggulan yang harus dikomunikasikan kepada para pelanggan

• First Order Savings - Mereka harus membeli beberapa unit server dalam jumlah kecil, sehingga penghematan akan dapat dicapai.
• Second Order Savings – Biaya listrik yang lebih kecil, biaya lisensi dari software dan biaya tenaga kerja juga lebih kecil.

Kesimpulan

Berdasarkan hasil analisis dari strategi pricing yang menggunakan empat macam pendekatan, maka sebaiknya dipergunakan pendekatan strategi pricing yang ketiga, yaitu Cost-Plus Pricing, hal tersebut dikarenakan :

• Harga dari pendekatan value in price masih lebih tinggi dari harga pasar saat ini dimana para pelanggan mungkin tidak akan bersedia untuk membeli produk tersebut, meskipun dari sisi penerimaan masih lebih tinggi dari penggunaan metode lainnya.
• Dengan pendekatan cost-plus pricing ini maka harga produk jauh lebih murah daripada harga kompetitif di pasar. Dengan demikian, hal ini dapat menguntungkan para pelanggan di dalam pasar yang didominasi oleh Ontario dimana pangsa pasarnya sebesar 50%.
• Mengenai biaya yang timbul dapat dipulihkan dan perusahaan tidak akan mengalami kerugian, hal ini mungkin merupakan cara yang konservatif namun tetap dapat menghasilkan penerimaan.
• Dengan pertimbangan adanya mark-up sebesar 30%, maka kemungkinan besar dapat menghasilkan laba sebesar 30%.

Reaksi dari tenaga penjualan dari Cadena

Cadena mungkin tidak akan bereaksi secara positif pada awalnya. Sejak timbulnya biaya yang tinggi akan membuat pekerjaannya menjadi semakin berat dari metode lain seperti pendekatan status quo, dimana mereka pada mulanya juga bukan merupakan pemain utama di pasar. Namun Jowers dapat memberikan penjelasan mengenai keuntungan kompetitif yang substansial dan oleh karena itulah dia dapat menjelaskan secara rasional akan keputusannya menggunakan pendekatan strategi pricing cost-plus.

Reaksi dari para pelanggan

Para pelanggan mungkin akan merespon dengan positif karena mereka merasa diuntungkan. Hal tersebut dikarenakan harga jauh lebih murah dibanding harga kompetitornya dan memiliki penekanan nilai tambah berupa keuntungan jangka pendek dan jangka panjang dari produk tersebut.

Reaksi dari Tim Manajemen Senior Ontario “ZINK” terhadap ancaman dari paket produk Atlantic, yaitu “TRONN” + “PESA”

Ontario selama ini memiliki keunggulan kompetitif dari segi harga dan manajemen persediaannya. Yang menjadi alasan utama mereka dapat menurunkan biaya adalah karena mereka supplier berbasis Web. Semenjak biaya mereka lebih rendah dari “TRONN”, mereka akan berusaha untuk menurunkan harga lebih murah lagi.
