Does Old Metal Affect New Metal? Have you ever thought about how musicians have changed over the years? It seems even though musicians have changed people’s views on them have stayed the same based on their genre. A prime example of this is Metal music. Metal musicians have got a bed reputation from the beginning, but there has been a huge change in the metal artist from the 70’s and 80’s to the modern artist of today. Yet people still seem to put the same stereotype on them as before. When metal music was at its prime in the 70’s and 80’s the artist themselves where all about rebellion whether it was through their lyrics or actions. JP is a well known music writer of music history and in one of his columns he states, “Glam metal was a genre defined by rebel musicians and rebellious lyrics.” (“"Why does glam metal have a place in metal-rules.com while mallcore never will?", Web.) With the artist having this mind set it landed a lot of popular musicians in jail, most of them who did not end up in jail at some point were brought public has being drug heads or staying drunk. This is why metal artist had such bad reputations as people. This also lead the public to believe that the genre itself was something that they shouldn’t let their kids listen to or that they did not want to get there self-involved in as a whole. These actions of past metal artist have carried over to the modern era of metal artist. Music critic’s views have not changed of these people even though everything in the genre is different. Even though most current metal music lyrics and inspirational and uplifting the world sees them the same way as the past. The author of “10 Myths about Metal Music” expresses this by saying “Most people view metal lyrics and music as simple and stupid.” (The Black Frost, “10 Myths about Metal Music”, Web.) This has caused false accusations of all different kinds to be put on current metal bands. People automatically disregard their musical talent and lyrics and they look at the artist as bad people before they ever take a chance to look into their lives. It has put a unfair stereotype of the genre and has even put the same effects on the fans of the genre. Current metal musicians are almost complete opposite of past metal musicians. Most of the current ones write inspirational lyrics compared to rebellious ones. They have even started donating money to organizations and putting their own time and effort to volunteering with different programs in certain areas. Yet people still tend to misunderstand the genre. I believe this comes from their past understanding of the old metal music. Phil B. states in his article,” Furthermore, I assume that heavy metal music provides an outlet for people to vent out their frustrations in a safe manner. As a result, I have nothing against heavy metal music, but it is a difficult for those of us who do not enjoy heavy metal to truly understand it. “(“Understanding Heavy Metal Music”, Web.) When a certain type of genre changes from how it was in the past to its current state a lot of people get the wrong impression of it. In this case metal music took a huge leap in its style. I believe that the music critics and fans could not get a grasp on this and just decided to view artist as the old style of metal. As you can see how metal artist acted in the past as played a huge part in how music fans and critics see current metal artist of today. Some of them disregard their talent completely, some of them automatically view the artist as bad people before even getting to know what the persons background or current life is like simply because of the music that they play. This applies to many different genres not just metal but it is the best example. Metal music is a misunderstood genre in general so when everyone looks back on its past it does not help the defense of current metal artist in any way because of the way that they acted in the 70’s and 80’s. I encourage everyone to keep a open mind about music and explore different genres more in detail because what you think you know might not be the entire truth.

...Cause and/or Effect Essay: Good Writer Writing is a mastery that may take years to develop. As one matures from childhood, they develop diverse communication skills, such as talking, listening, and writing. Writing is an integral skill that enables a person articulate their ideas in a commonsensical manner. Although I am not a good writer, as I would like to be, I have made tremendous improvements over the years. Several factors have influenced my writing ability to the level I have reached currently. My family background and school experience presented me with an opportunity to become an exceptional writer, while social influences had an insignificant effect in bettering my skills. Primarily, my family background has a significant effect in my mastery of writing. I saw people writing at home, as my parents read and wrote frequently. My parents have an inherent respect and value for writing. They regularly expressed a love for writing and implored us to read and write as much as possible. We had a small book library at our home, comprising of newspapers, novels, and research books. Home libraries have a significant influence on development of an interest in reading and writing (Bonci, 2010). Initially, I only read magazines, but it was only after I started reading longer books with chapters, that I developed the skill to organize ideas. For that reason, my family background has had a significant effect in the writing skills. In addition, my school...

...Cause and Effect Essay China’s One Child Policy Can you imagine not having the option of having more than one child? Well this is the case in China. Due to the enormous increase in population, the Chinese government have decided that each family has the right of having only one child. Otherwise they will be punished. The decision has harmful consequences on the Chinese society. It affected the balance of male-female ratio. In addition, it caused the loneliness of the children. Moreover, it caused a shortage of young people. First, China’s one child policy affected the balance of female-male ratio. The number of the boys in China became much more than the number of the girls which led to unfortunate consequences. For example, it became hard for some of them to get married. In addition, the criminal activities increased since the number of boys is larger. Esther Dulfo states “This only child generation is now reaching adulthood. A child born in 1980 is now 28 years old, and China is beginning to realise the consequences of this demographic imbalance. Among 16-25 years old, there are nearly 110 boys for every 100 girls. Boys are having trouble getting married. And young men, particularly single ones, have more behavioural problems and commit more crimes than young women. ” Second, the children became lonely because they cannot have siblings which led to miserable effects. For instance, the children have weak...

...Cause and Effect Essay In 1981 a new disease by the name of AIDS (Acquired immuno deficiency syndrome) was diagnosed. AIDS was first discovered in major coastal cities such as New York, San Francisco, Miami, and Los Angeles. The Center for disease control and prevention (CDC) published in their morbidity and mortality weekly report on June 5th 1981 a report with a description of rare cases of Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP), a lung infection. Doctors from all over the United States recounted numerous similar cases as well as cases of a rare cancer known as Kaposi’s sarcoma. In these early reports it was noted that those affected were mostly gay men and intravenous drug users. It was because of this that many referred to the disease as GRID (Gay-Related Immune Deficiency). Later reports sprouted up of women, babies born to infected women, blood recipients such as hemophiliacs, as well as prostitutes and their customers all with the disease. Some children were even denied entry to school and when it was found they had the disease. When wealthy high profile victims started surfacing, the movie icon Rock Hudson for example, it was realized that AIDS is a disease that can affect anyone and is not just limited to a particular group of people. This realization set the stage for the anxiety of people toward what is now known as the Aids pandemic and put the world in a state of emergency. It is now know that HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) and AIDS go hand in hand. Researchers...

...As an 18 year old kid, on the verge of graduation, I had endless possibilities ahead of me. I could go to college. I could take a year or two to travel; maybe backpack through Europe. Heck, I could spend the summer sleeping in late and hanging out with my friends before setting off on my next adventure. The point is, high school was about to end and I was the captain of my own ship for the first time. I was about to embark on an uncharted voyage to whatever destination I desired with nothing to keep me from fulfilling my dreams and desires. At least that’s what I thought. My whole world was about to change and I was totally unaware. The bomb dropped about a month before graduation, and my ship sank like a ton of bricks. My girlfriend Christy was pregnant. Instead of being a young man about to take on the world, I was going to be a father. I honestly don’t remember how I felt when she first told me. I think mostly I was just numb. I remember her sitting across from me in the passenger seat of my Volkswagen Beetle, tears streaming down her face, gasping for breath through her sobs. She was terrified. I was too, but I knew I had to get my act together and try to be strong for us both. I mean, I was the man, right? I stretched across to her seat and tried as best I could to hold her and comfort her. I didn’t know what to say, so I just kept telling her everything would be ok, we would figure things out together, and that I loved her. I guess that’s what she needed because she started...

...As a child with two parents who worked outside the home, as well as a working parent of a child who also has two parents who work outside the home, I can state from personal experience that there are many effects attributable to a child in this situation. There are many positives and negatives to this lifestyle and they change as schedules and activities change. With a bit of flexibility and open thinking, this can be advantageous while teaching many lessons to children and parents alike. A majority of parents work outside of the home to maintain financial stability. As children enter daycare and school, a routine is more easily established. Child care is an extremely costly, ongoing expense. Is care before and after school required? Backup plans for time missed from work must be made for those times that daycare or school is closed or your child is ill and cannot attend. In a traditional, 40-hour, five-day workweek, it may be very difficult to attend school day and afterschool events, especially if they are “away” events. You may have to deal with hurt feelings when you can’t juggle your schedule to attend every event. If your child does participate in these activities, consideration must be given to what types of supplies and equipment is required in addition to the additional costs associated with the activity. Another consideration is how to provide a quick, nutritious, inexpensive dinner on the evenings the event takes place and blocking time for homework. Many professions...

Hamlet Cause and Effect Essay

...Hamlet Cause and effect Essay Adam Laning For any play to be a successful the audience must be able to feel a connection with it, they must feel like they are not just an audience, but perhaps characters in the play itself. One way of making connections between the audience and the play is through speeches that target the audience. In the Play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, there are many examples of this technique of targeting the audience. One example that is very effect in doing this if found in a speech given by Hamlet in act IV, Scene 4. This speech makes many connections with the audience of the Elizabethan era, relating to their social, cultural, and economic values and perspectives. By touching on these topics the speech given by Hamlet in act IV, Scene 4 is very effective in connecting with the audience. The first way that this speech connects with it’s audience is by touching on their social values and perspectives. The line that does this is “What is a man If his chief good and market of his time Be but to sleep and feed? A beast, no more. Sure, he that made us with such large discourse, looking before and after, gave us not That capability and godlike reason to fust in us unused.” This play was written and performed during the Elizabethan and Renaissance eras and the people of this time considered themselves to be very educated and thought highly of the human race as a very cultured group of individuals. By calling into question the nature of a person and what separates...

Cause and Effect Hamlet Essay

...Cause and Effect Hamlet Essay William Shakespeare, arguably the greatest language in the English language and England’s national poet, has written numerous histories, tragedies, comedies and poems. Throughout his plays, his use of dramatic irony, immaculate word choice and wording, and his vast imagination has made him a successful playwright even in his time. Shakespeare’s scripts for his theatrical company, needed to pertain to the needs and fascinations of the Elizabethan audience. It is safe to assume that all his sonnets, poetic speeches, electrifying action and soliloquies in his play were created for the delicate and quickly appreciative of language Elizabethans of his time. A particular example out of the many soliloquies present in the tragedy of Hamlet is the beautiful and moving speech in Act IV, Scene IV (IV, iv, 35-70) of Hamlet depicting his admiration of Fortinbras and his disappointment in himself. The poetic loving audience is noticeably the cause while this splendid speech, along with the many others, is the effect. This soliloquy is a mere example of Shakespeare’s disgust for the political manipulations of his time, the acceptance of murder, and the change of self brought on by others. In the brilliant vocalization of Shakespeare’s feelings through the speech made by Hamlet, it is evident that Shakespeare despises the waste of lives due to war without justification. Perhaps, knowingly that the audience would share this view or dissentient of lives lost...
