The first type of meditation that was not presented was Reflective meditation. Reflective meditation is the tranquil period where your body is at rest but your mind is still active and still highly aware of what is going on around you. This form of meditation can really help with rehab patients and can be an important pain recovery supplement. This technique is non-religious and you don’t need to have any beliefs to practice this form of meditation. The process for this form of meditation therapy is very effortless and very powerful for trying to relax. This therapy can even help with psychological therapy. The process of Reflective meditation is just basically focus on what you are doing and where in a specific moment. For this all you need is your mind, body, and spirit. Centering prayer meditation is mostly for people of those with cultivating acceptance. This form of meditation has to be simple and you have to be confined to the acts. This process involves letting go it’s not postures, breathing patterns or even mantras. As always most meditations use a word or syllables. Thins of a word or syllables makes you think harder about the things that are negative around you and in life. You will do this when you realize that you are engaged within a thought and you will go back to gently stillness. It’s okay to let some thoughts happen but that’s not the goal the goal is to let everything float away without attention. So for this meditation you’re basically just going to ‘rest in god”. The benefits of this form of meditation is that it helps with the devoted spiritual life, you will be able to walk through life’s tragedies and disappointments and know that things are going to be okay no matter what because you have god. This will help with the anxiety and anxiousness, restless or even irritable and that in time you will be fully alive to enjoy life as

...Critique of Westerhoff’s Spiritual Life: The Foundation for Preaching and Teaching[1] The Preface to Westerhoff’s book presents the problem which he seeks to address in the six chapters that follow. “Burn-out”, “drain-out” and “rust-out” are all terms used to describe a condition among preachers and teachers whereby they come to realize that their faithfulness to their vocation has become flawed and empty. The reader is informed that it is a spiritual disease that needs spiritual healing so that these individuals can acquire a message to preach/teach that is fresh and relevant (p ix-xi). Westerhoff proceeds to explain that this healing is to be found in “deepening love relationships with God, self, all people and the whole of creation” (p 1). A love must be experienced for what is good, true and beautiful (p 6) and relationships must be infused with the fruit of the Holy Spirit (p 8-9) for ministry to be revitalized. There must be a rejection of hypocrisy to where relationships become more authentic. A concurrent problem also exists which Westerhoff considers of equal importance – the post modern climate of our culture.
