1. The relationship between brain changes and behaviour in people with dementia-When a person has dementia different areas of the brain are damaged. The damage can differ between different types of people. A person cannot help his or her behaviour resulting from his/her brain damage. Dementia develops at different rates there is no average progression rate and the rate of progression can depend on the cases of dementia. Progressive deterioration happens over time, temporary conditions such as stress, illness, medication and time of day can make symptoms appear worse. People with dementia are all different both in the way they are affected, their behaviour and the nature and extent of the brain damage.

2. The support services available in your local area- Caring for a person with dementia can be very demanding and physically and emotionally tiering and draining.
The Australian government and state government allocate funds to organizations to provide services to help you. Commonwealth carer resource centres are operated by carers associations in each state. Practical written information about support services, home help financial entitlements, legal matters, respite care, health, wellbeing, dealing with grief, counselling programs, emotional support, educational and training opportunities. The HACC (Home and Community Care) services are: Home help, home modifications, home nursing services, food services and transport services.

3. The legal ramifications of Physical, Chemical and Psychological restraint- The term physical restraint would be the force necessary to restrict or limit the movements or limit the physical actions of an individual. Chemical restraint would probably refer to the OC spray, mace and tear gas that temporarily disables a struggling or resisting individual so that they may be taken into physical custody. Psychological restraint when used in this context has no meaning or application. Psychological restraint implies that restraint which is self-imposed by the person themselves.

4. The social model of disability- The social model of disability is a reaction to the dominant medical model of disability which in itself is a functional analysis of the body as machine to be fixed in order to conform to normative values. The social model of disability identifies systemic barriers, negative attitudes and exclusion by society (purposely and inadvertently) that mean society is the main contributory factor in disabling people.
The social model of disability focuses on change required in society. * Attitudes, for example a more positive attitude towards certain mental traits or behaviours or not underestimating the potential quality of life of those with impairments. * Social support, help dealing with barriers, resourced, aids or positive discrimination to overcome them for example providing a buddy to explain work culture for an employee with autism. * Physical structures, eg buildings with sloped access and elevators or flexible work hours for people with circadian rhythm, sleep disorders or for people who experience anxiety/panic attacks in rush hour traffic.
The social model of disability implies that attempts to change, fix or cure individuals especially when used against the wishes of the patient it can be discriminatory and prejudiced.

5. The impact of social devaluation on an individual’s life and how competency and image enhancement can address devaluation- It can make everything seem like it’s out to get you and make you scared to try new things. It can also affect your attitude about people and places, loneliness not a value, person and home maintaining. The impact of social devaluation is when a person or group is considered to have less social value than others. Devaluation is always a concern when dealing with reasonable assets ensuring high levels of management competency and image enhancement ensures the value won’t drop too rapidly when time comes to sell devaluation can affect anyone. People can experience rejection and loss of control over their lives.

...increased risk for suicide by some1,2 but not all,3 research studies. Second, there is increasing evidence that suicide may be a consequence of the stresses related to the experience of deployment and combat.4 Third, there have been concerns about the extent to which the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care system, has addressed the needs of veterans, especially those who have returned from service in Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Since the start of OEF and OIF, there have been a number of reports on rates and risk factors for death from suicide among all American veterans, independent of whether they have received VHA health care services,1---3,5---9 as well as a greater number of reports on those who utilize VHA services,10---22 and on mixed samples.23 Currently, the literature is not clear as to whether rates in veterans as a whole are higher than those for other Americans after controlling for demographic variables. However, there is evidence for increased rates in veterans utilizing VHA health care services. To date, there have been no reports of comparisons between veterans who utilize VHA services...

The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the postgraduate education sector in the UK, bringing together published data and reports in a convenient format and highlighting areas that may be of interest to policymakers. It provides a continuation and extension of the Higher Education Policy Institute’s (HEPI) previous report on postgraduate education in the UK published in 2004.1 2. This report mostly looks at the sector from a UK-wide perspective, unless dealing specifically with regional differences. However, since the large majority of the students in higher education are registered in English universities, this only gives us a clear picture of what is happening in England and does not necessarily reflect the situation in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, or indeed any one of the nine English regions. The reader should bear in mind that many of the discussions focus mainly on...

...Parliament of Australia Department of Parliamentary Services Parliamentary Library Information, analysis and advice for the Parliament RESEARCH PAPER www.aph.gov.au/library 26 May 2010, no. 17, 2009–10, ISSN 1834-9854 Budget Review 2010–11 Last year’s Budget was framed amid a sharply deteriorating world economy which was considered the most challenging global economic conditions since the Great Depression. In 2009, the global economy contracted for the first time in the post-war era. In contrast, Australia grew by almost 1.5 per cent supported by monetary and fiscal policy stimulus, a well-functioning banking system, and strong growth in a number of East Asian economies. The third Rudd Government Budget, presented on 11 May 2010, was developed within an improving but still uncertain outlook, with events in Greece and other European Union countries reminding us of the risks to the global economic recovery. Strong economic growth in China and India is expected to continue to flow throughout the region and, despite a slower pace, the US is leading the recovery among our advanced economy major trading partners. Global economic growth is in the early stages of recovery but we should remain cognisant of the precarious economic environment which is continuing to challenge government policy makers around the globe. Once again the Parliamentary Library has produced the annual Budget Review that examines the key features of a selection of crucial measures contained...

...Outline: RESEARCH 1) NATURE AND SCOPE OF RESEARCH 1.1) Definition – purposive, systematic and scientific process of gathering, analyzing, classifying, organizing, presenting and interpreting data for the solution of a problem, for prediction, for invention, for the discovery of truth, or for the expansion or verification of existing knowledge, all for the preservation and improvement of the quality of human life. 1.1.1) History of Research Historical records reveal that there is no written document on the beginning of business research as an organized business activity, but this is definitely of modern origin. During the Middle Ages, the merchant families of Fugger and Rothschild prospered in part because their organizations enabled them to get information before their competitors did. These studies were unsystematic, but considered to be well organized during that time. In 1879, more by accident than foresight, N. W. Ayer and Son conducted a crude but formal market survey, to measure markets for agricultural machineries, manufactured by Nicholas-Shepard Company. This market survey is probably the first real attempt at business research in the United States. The Curits Publishing company is generally conceived to have formed the first formal business research department with the appointment of Charles Parlin as manager of the Commercial Research Division of the Advertising Department in 1911. His original idea was that advertising space could be sold more effectively...
