"I am not just a butt-wiper", many people believe that being a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is just taking care of old people and changing them constantly but that is not the case. Future nurses all should go through the lowest level of nursing types in order to achieve where they are today.
Certified Nursing Assistants are in high demands in the health care, for areas such as the nursing home. Nursing aides should be compassionate at their job, tolerant and have good communication skills; it is important for aides to express empathy to those that are sick or with limited abilities that are needed for daily care, maintenance of environment in stressful situations and be effectively concern about their patients' health (Nursing Aide 2017). Working as a nursing aide will give you experience that a nurse might not get, it is because nursing aides communicate and interact with the patients more.
Besides the fact that CNAs jobs are primarily in nursing homes, more comes out from it. Think of nursing homes and assisted living as day care that you take your kids into. The CNAs are there to help them when they are in need, in pain, scared, and when they're happy. We are the ones that wake them up at the crack of dawn to start their day and help them brush their teeth before going to bed.

...Deciding what job to observe was pretty easy, because I chose to observe myself at my workplace. I am a Certified Nursing Assistant at DePaul Wexford Assisting living home in Denver, North Carolina. I chose Wednesday, September 21st to observe. By my observations you will see what exactly takes place during my daily routine as a Certified Nursing Assistant. On Wednesday, September 21st, I was scheduled to work second shift 3 pm to 11pm. I got ready around 1:45 pm. i have to wear scrubs at my workplace, but luckily we can wear any color we want. After I was dressed I got everything else together and got into my car to leave. I left my house at 2:30 pm, because my job is only estimating 10-15 minutes away from my house, so with me leaving at 2:30 pm that had me getting to work around 2:45 pm. At 3:00 pm I clocked in to go to work. After I clocked in I went into the nurses’ station and I got my assignment from my supervisor for my shift. She assigned me...

Do you have an interest in making someone’s life easier by helping them with simple life tasks? If you have ever been interested in helping someone, then becoming a nursing assistant is the right job for you. The definition of a nursing assistant is “A person who has completed a brief health care training program and who provides support services for RNs and LPNs. I will also include the job description of a nursing assistant, and why they are the eyes and ears for nurses. Nursing assistants also give love and support...

Effective Communication

...includes learning to communicate effectively. Effective communication means that we actively listen to others and observe their body language. Their emotions and attitudes may not be heard in their tone of voice. Sometimes, individuals say more through their actions and facial expressions than in spoken words. This is especially true in health care. (2011) Patients sometimes believe that health care providers see them as a number or chart and not as a person. Providers ask closed ended questions to save time. Some patients perceive this as a lack of caring and will not disclose pertinent information. Patients may be misdiagnosed and not receive the correct care. (2011) Communication in a skilled nursing facility is comparable to other in-patient facilities and out-patient facilities. Patients should always be treated with respect and caring. Effective listening skills can be beneficial in the treatment of patients and when communicating with other staff members. At Union City Care Center, the most effective form of communication is face-to-face or one-on-one communication. Eye contact is an important component of active communication. Managers can look at coworkers, employees, patients, and family members in the eyes and create a sense of trust. Direct eye contact is way to make sure that individuals understand the line of communication and how they feel about...
