1. What is Change Management?

The term Change Management occurred around the 80’s. The term is being used when some aspects in a organization are being changed. Mostly the term is related to IT. In example, when a computer system is getting implemented, it is called a change. You need to manage that change. To help manage the change, you can use Change Management. Change Management can be used with theories and practices.
In organizations there are always changes. This differs from a system implementation to a culture change. Everybody faces changes in their life, if it is not on their work, it is in their personal life. Decisions you have to make for your future (of the company) will have their impact on the changes. In example, you have changes in the organization when you want to reduce costs and improve efficiency you can manage a change in the organization. This can be by implementing a system or to redefine a work process.
Changes can be seen as always repeating, it is a cycle that keeps going. Change is a process, not an event. Companies need to respond to the changes, to manage it.
"Change is a process, not an event.''
People like to work the way they used to do their work. When a change - like renewed work processes or a new system - appears, there can be a strong resistance from the employees, because they want to do it their trusted way with their trusted resources.
To prevent such resistance you can involve all the stakeholders in the change and listen to what everybody has to say and conclude how the change is to be made. The stakeholders feel that the management listened to them, and in that way they are less likely to resist to the change.

The definition consists three clauses, that are:
• Set of tools, processes, skills and principles
• For managing the people side of change
