People are capable of changing their self-concepts as they age. Our self-concept was formed as a result of the different viewpoints you shaped about yourself earlier in your life. You’re not born with it and that’s why you’re able to change it. Self-talk is what forms your beliefs, and your beliefs are the pillars that hold your self-concept so in order to change your self-concept. You should first question all of the beliefs you have about yourself, then discard false ones then adjust your self-talk in order not to form additional incorrect beliefs.

Men and women differ in self-disclosure and were found as a function of sex stereotyping of topic content. The men disclosed less than women on feminine topics, which emphasized individual concerns and sensitivities. Men and women did not differ in disclosure on neutral topics, considered appropriate for both sexes to discuss. However, men and women do not differ in disclosure on masculine topics. Theoretical mechanisms that might mediate sex differences in self-disclosure were considered.

Shyness and communication apprehension can be hereditary and the existing circumstances of the person. However it is needless to say that existing surrounding conditions are more dominating than genetic inheritance. Some of the elements, which are supposed to be the situational-causes of communication apprehension are low childhood nurturance, originality, mannerism, subordinate status, conspicuousness, unfamiliarity, dissimilarity, the degree of attention from others, evaluation and prior history including schooling and higher education. If an individual is introduced to a novel situation, which may develop concerns and fears like how to deal with the new situation, this concern can result in anxiety

Without that foundation the inside pieces would not hold together correctly. I see myself as this puzzle. Although I am not completely broken, I am still looking for those last few pesky pieces of the border that take forever to find. Physically I know that I am overweight, however I do not let that define who I am. This is a challenging process and through each piece found, I have learned that I am a survivor and who I am.
