Procter and gamble business strategy is to keep the popular brands that already exist at the top by maintaining and extending the brands. The role of innovation is to create an existence in new markets from the ground up or improve on brands. Innovation is the centerpiece for the business strategy and can not be done without collaboration. Collaboration is where the rubber hits the ground in terms of accomplishing the goals set through their innovation, which is based on new ideas or what else is occurring in the market. The business model and strategy centers around enriching innovation through collaboration. So collaboration being as quick, smooth, and all encompassing as possible is important for getting the innovation that is required. Email is popular but can become redundant in the ultimate goal for P&G to create innovation with collaboration. People receiving chained email responses, from a topic they lost interest months ago, is a problem they found occurring. Blogs were thought to be better because it only gained momentum through interest. The problem Microsoft bundled suites are used for emailing, instant messaging, voice transmission, data transmission, electronic conferencing, SharePoint, web browsing, contact and task management, emailing, and clandering. This was done as an overhaul to link all of the possible ways someone’s work could be shared with another. Teamcenter product lifecycle is used as well for 3d product visualization of data. This was made so more people could be apart of the lifecycle of a project. The internet. Most of the information is said to be found outside P&G about the market. Collaboration systems solve the inability to communicate properly or inefficiently. All of their systems are up to date with one another, meaning there is no complication with having to bring my personal laptop to play a presentation because powerpoint is not up to date on the computer in the conference room so it will not play my file properly- those type of situations that waste time, money, and create undue stress. Furthermore they allow vital information to move in a very fluid manner which allows every person to know what they need to know the moment they need to know it. This interconnectivity creates unison which is hard in goal oriented tasks as complex as in P&G. An interesting example of efficiency is also shown when you think of how people would email another coworker to ask a simple question, knowing the person is in the other room, or call them, and instead, now they can just send an instant message to that coworker. This reduces the flooding of email inboxes. Some technologies such as blogging is slow because it represents Extra work on top of the work already being done to essentially accomplish the same goal. The old way for writing up and distributing material was through world documents (because it could not be integrated all the different reports) and manually glue parts of the report was apart of the process. The other was to email powerpoints to each person.
The new way is to use sharepoint that takes all of the presentations and stores them at one location. This means that the ease of access is greatly increased and can be accessed by multiple people, from different locations, without having to worry about finding an email from 3 months ago with the proper attachment, as an example. Telepresence is good for making people feel like they are in the same room with a person who could be across the globe, and with a company like P&G, that is very possible. So using this collaborative technique allows for people to feel like they are in the office with someone but just virtually. The next step would be having a way for people with ideas not from their area of expertise, such as bob from sales who has an idea and asks jerry from research if its possible. I assume that is not as easily done if bob does not already know jerry on a personal level. This would allow educated ideas to become important and promote the integrated line of thinking that P&G is obviously striving for.

...Consultation Bridget L. Davis Case Assignment 1: Consultation The problem in the hospital is poor data entry of patients in the database of the hospital. There are numerous potential sources of this problem. One is that the people in charge of the department on data entry lack necessary qualification to do their jobs. These individuals may not possess the necessary skills that will enable them tackle their jobs with caution. The result is that they do not fill the database appropriately and they end up missing important information that is critical in decision-making (Bor & Miller, 2007). Another potential source of the problem in the hospital is rebellion. The data entry workers may be rebellious to the financial officer for reasons they do may not disclose to the senior management. In this regard, they may perform duties without caution and make deliberate mistakes to attract attention of the senior management. These workers make mistakes and ensure that the people in charge of the departments and other executives will notice to have a forum where they can air their issues (Willcox, 2004). These are some of the potential sources of the issues in the hospital. In my analysis, I would wish to analyze the qualifications of all individuals attached in the data entry department. The analysis would be to ensure that all these individuals have the necessary skills to handle the work of data entry clerks. Another part of my analysis would be a scrutiny on how these experts...

...Chapter 1 : Case Study 2 Providing any form of compensation could be taken as an offense for thousands of donor families who have already made a benevolent choice of donating organs. The proposed legislation could also end up alienating families who have decided to donate life saving organs regardless of any compensation. Many may think that offering economic benefits, wether directly or indirectly in exchange for organ donations or assigning monetary value to the human body, or body parts, is inconsistent with our values as a society. The proposed legislation could also promote suicidal behavior in people who are in need of monetary help or want to help out their family and loved ones. By offering financial incentives, there could be an increase in crimes such as organ stealing and possibly murder for receiving money for the stolen organ. These are the few issues that this proposed legislation raises. Even though the proposed legislation raises the above mentioned issues, I would still support the the bill. Providing financial incentives for organ donation might seem like it diminishes human dignity, however, it could be something worth looking into. In the normal world, people are naturally resistant to things they are not familiar with or cannot relate to. Economic incentives might force them to rethink their options about organ donation. The proposed legislation may not deter people who believe it is wrong but, it will cause a large population to consider organ donation...

...improvements in such as MF-3 “EPS” and MP-2 “New Designs with Wear Resistant Parts” and focused on initiatives that linked to them. In period three in order to achieve our customer objectives we continued to invest in C-4, C-5, and C-7. However we decided to remove C-2 “Customer Goal Sharing Initiative” because we were not seeing major improvements and decided it would be better to invest in something else which will be discussed later. Removing C-2 had a negative impact on MC-1 which is “BSC objectives shared with strategic customers” bringing it down from 9 to 7, this program helped the company understand the needs and wants of the consumers, reason being why we will add it back in a later period. We did not see a major improvement with our EPS which was one of our main objectives and focus, in order to improve that we needed to control our costs which are impacted but internal controls. We continued to invest in our internal processes P-1, P-7, P-14, and P-15. However some changes that we made to our investments in internal processes were that we removed P-2 “Assembly Line Equipment Upgrade” which was tied in with MP-6 “Assembly Throughput Rate” because we were at a 136% by the end of year 2 and decided to focus on metrics that were not growing significantly. Therefore added in P-10 “R&D Initiative: Wear-Resistant Parts” because this would increase quality of our parts by improving the durability of the parts and also, ties into objective OP-2 Design for High Quality. The outcome...

...What are the major economic forces that serve as an impetus for using oversight/governance tools and processes? The major economic forces that serve as an impetus for using oversight/governance tools and processes are balanced scorecard, oversight, and portfolio management. The Super Web Design president asked you to justify present and future oversight activities. Answer for request. The way we justify present and future oversight activities for the president of the super Web Design company is because without the future oversight activities the projects will be completed more on time and more successfully. What are the three major advantages to an organization using a maturity model? The three major advantages is it is more cost efficient, it is quicker, and you know that the project is done right. “We aren't big enough to have a project office, but we need the discipline of project management methods and standards.” What advice would you give the CEO of this organization? Justify. I would tell the CEO that every company is big enough for a project office or the whole company needs to work together as a project team, because without a project team it would be very difficult to finish projects on time. It also allows for the project to be completed with higher customer satisfaction. Explain to a fellow student the major benefits of project management oversight to the organization. ...1. Find a list of all 10 of Zappos corporate values. Pick two of the values and explain how you think those values would influence the way employees do their work. A. Zappos list of 10 corporate values are: Deliver WOW Through Service, Embrace and Drive Change, Create Fun and A Little Weirdness, Be Adventurous, Creative, and Open-Minded, Pursue Growth and Learning, Build Open and Honest Relationships with Communication, Build a Positive Team and Family Spirit, Do More with Less, Be Passionate and Determined, and Be Humble. If I had to pick two values from that list they would be Build a Positive Team and Family Spirit and also Build Open and Honest Relationships with Communication. I believe that these two values would have the biggest impact in developing an organizations culture. Organizational culture has been described as the shared values, principles, traditions, and ways of doing things that influence the way organizational members act and that distinguish the organization from other organizations. Organizational culture has many characteristics but the book uses 3 particular words to define culture: Perception, Descriptive, and Shared. An organizations culture cannot be physically touched or seen, the organization is concerned with how members perceive the culture and how the describe it and finally individuals with different backgrounds or work at different levels of the organization can describe the culture of the organization in similar terms. When the key values...

The information systems department will be able to separate informational from operational systems to improve performance dramatically in managing company data. 2. What are some of the disadvantages of consumer cooperatives compared to ’traditional’ firms? Consumer co-operatives will not make a higher profit if they happen not to have a lot of members. While traditional firm firms will make profit from a variety of customers. Prices in Consumer-operatives are owners driven while traditional firms change their prices according to demands of products. This makes price very flexible in traditional firms than in consumer co-operatives.Consumer cooperatives require a high level of organization. Because the consumers are helping to make many decisions there are more legal responsibilities for the company. 3. The responses all relate to the crucial interview period. Twenty-two inevitable ways to “strike out” are listed below. If you really want the job, be careful to avoid them all. 1. POOR PERSONAL APPEARANCE A company will be more likely to hire someone who is well groomed and will represent their company in a professional manner. 2. LACK OF INTEREST AND ENTHUSIASM A passive and indifferent attitude is instantly recognized as “I don’t care if I get this job.” Sincere interest and enthusiasm about the position is essential. 3. TOO MUCH EMPHASIS ON MONEY Your interviewing goal is to sell yourself to the interviewer and get an offer of employment. Salary discussion is secondary. 4. CONDEMNATION OF PAST EMPLOYERS Present facts only surrounding the past positions. Interviewers will be sensitive to comments about past employers. Too much information may come across as gossip. 5. TALKING TOO MUCH Answer questions as asked without being abrupt; expound only to the point that the interviewer has a clear understanding of what you mean. Unnecessary conversation wastes time. 6. Project Management Chapter 2 Case Study Solution

...1. How do we create a partnership between the project manager and line managers when project manager focuses only on the best of his/her project and the line manager is expected to make impartial company decision? I think the most important point is that project manager and line manager should stand on the same level, which means each of them should have same formal authority, line manager should manage right people to project manager, and project manager should arrange right people to the right position, for the best interest of company, this is a partnership they should establish. 2. Who should have more of a say during negotiations for the resource manager or the line manager. I think it depends on what size the company is, for case one, line manager have more of a say during negotiations for resource, during the context, line manager control several key staff, while project manager have to work with the one he does not want to work with. Ideally, project manager should have a say in the assembly of his project team and his resource, which will help him to gain their personal commitment, support and required quality of service. 3. How should irresolvable conflicts over staffing between the project and line managers be handle? Basically, for this kind of conflict should be handle by sponsor, it is the sponsor who support the project, if there is a conflict between the project manager and line manager, sponsor should evaluate the situation to decide who should go...
