Character Development Story

Her name is Victoria May and she is 32 years old. She has a beautiful blonde hair color, skinny, beautiful ocean green eyes, and a smile that shines like the sunrays. She has always been a dedicated, goal-oriented, intuitive, sweet and caring person. She comes from a humble high-class and wealthy family. She is recently engaged to a very sweet and handsome man. Her family has always been there for her with all the support she needs. When she was 13 years old, she dreamed of becoming a pediatric neurosurgeon that was her “difficult to get dream”. Her biggest fear was becoming something else, just like everyone told her it was going to happen. Until one day, a successful doctor gave her the best advice to keep dreaming for what she really wants and never giving up.

When all the years passed, she graduated from medicine school and her biggest day is coming up. She’s going to be interviewed for jobs in hospitals. She is finally going to be working as a pediatric neurosurgeon. She is delighted for achieving her biggest dream. This is one of the most inspiring stories of all time, everyone told her: “what if you finish studying something else? Do you really want to go to medicine? It is really hard.” And Victoria just ignored them and said to herself: “who are you to tell me what is going to happen with my life? Unlike you, I am a very confident and goal-oriented person that knows exactly what she wants to study.”

Today, those people who were telling her that, are still in college trying to figure out what to do with her life. They wish they could go back to when they told me that so they can undo it and say instead: “wow, you’re an admirable person honestly, I wish I could be like you, I wish I could be so dedicated like you.”

Victoria, is a successful pediatric neurosurgeon in the Boston Children’s Hospital and she has written lots of books giving advice to children on how to achieve their goals. She has a girl named Cristina and a boy named Nathan. They both admire Victoria more than anyone else.

Character Development in the Alchemist

...Character Development In The Alchemist The novel The Alchemist written by Paulo Coelho is about a boy that is on a journey to find his personal legend. Throughout his journey he is helped by many people he meets, but he also has to overcome many obstacles that try to prevent him from finding his personal legend. In The Alchemist the main character Santiago shows a lot of character development through the ongoing knowledge he gains throughout his journey. At the start of the book Santiago shows immaturity with having a careless job as a shepherd and when he gives up on his journey to find his personal legend. Santiago begins to develop when he is given a job as a crystal merchant's assistant and he learns a lot of knowledge to help him through his journey. Santiago really shows a lot of development when the Alchemist teaches him that he needs to listen to his heart and when Santiago learns how to turn himself into the wind. At the beginning of the novel the character Santiago is a shepherd boy who is still young and immature. Santiago makes this impression when he is talking about his job as a shepherd, and how there are many "joys of carefree wandering." (pg 7) His job is fairly relaxed, he does not have to worry about much and he gets to travel to different places which he likes to do. The job does not have many responsibilities which is not good for Santiago because he is not learning much and it is the same repetitive tasks he does every day. Santiago also shows immaturity...

Narrative and Character Development

...INT 201: NARRATIVE AND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT ASSESSMENT 01 AVATAR (2009) is a science fiction epic directed by James Cameron centred around a growing conflict between a human corporation and an alien species Known as the Na’vi, on the latter’s native planet of Pandora. Like most blockbusters a third person shooter tie-in was also released by developer Ubisoft. The video game, James’ Cameron’s AVATAR: The Game, is set two years prior in the form of a prequel. Despite this it does little to expand on the films cannon and instead offers up a similarly tailored adventure that adheres to the basic parameters of the movie, utilising many of the same key moments across a clear and discernible 3 act structure. A cross comparative analysis of the two mediums, utilising Volger’s 12 steps Hero’s Journey demonstrates however how the games at first honours this time honoured journey, being plotted along Volger’s step before discarding them to its own detriment. The similarities in the narrative structure of both the film and the game differ little, particularly across their first act structures. Much like the films protagonist Jake Scully your character avatar, Able Ryder, will similarly find him/herself awakening from cryo after a prolonged journey from earth, leaving the ‘ordinay world’ and answering the ‘call to adventure’ within the exotic forests of Pandora. The hero archetype Jake is a fully realised character from the films introduction, who during the...

Character development is all determined on what the author wants the character wants to become. In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Lee had a very specific view for Scout Finch. Othello - Character Development Throughout Play

...Othello's character during the play is first shown as a hero of war and a man of great pride and courage. The other main characters in the play all form their own opinions of him and as the play continues, his character begins to deteriorate and become less noble. Chronologically through the play Othello's character changes from a flawless military leader, to become a murderer. Also as the play progresses, the other characters in the play change their opinions of Othello which causes the plot to happen the way it did. Throughout the first act of the play, Othello was shown as many different characters depending on who was speaking. Iago complains of Othello's pride and "bombast circumstance" and is angered by the appointment of Cassio, and educated military theoretician of Florence to lieutenant, instead of himself. Although he knows Othello is a proud man, his open and trusting nature in the beginning of the play will be eroded by the conclusion of the plot. As Iago is speaking to Brabantio about Othello, he uses the term "white ewe" to represent Desdemona, and "black ram" when referring to Othello. By using these terms, it shows that he is trying to give a bad impression of Othello when he is speaking to the royal family in Venice, because Othello is a Moor or a Negro. Iago shows his black hatred for the Moor, and his jealousy of Cassio in his first soliloquy and also reveals his evil intentions. As the act continues and Othello is...

Recast: Art

...“Recast” Curated by: Lisa Myers Artists: Bev Koski and Christian Chapman Stepping into the “Recast” exhibition invites the audience into a state of awe as they first follow the trail of Bev Koski’s 20 large photographs of these beaded cloaked palm sized figurines. Each pieces evokes a sense of sympathy as each photograph reveals only the eyes of the characters, as if she was showing how powerless they were. At the end of the trail, it leads to a small room with three lone chairs playing Christian Chapman’s black and white film collaboration with several artists through out 6 years period. An eerie background plays as a peculiar man who journeys into the depth of a forest, showing a peek of his everyday life. Chapman’s video was filmed with combinations of rapid shakiness and renders whereas Koski’s photographs were vibrant with the small details of contour of the beaded wrap. With the collaboration of these two artists, the audience wouldn’t grasp the relation of their two projects as they contrast in form and colour but the underlying theme of redesign from originality reveals itself as one continues to wonder through the exhibit. Explained by curator Lisa Myers, the word of “recast” defines as “reassigning an already established role” (Myers). Koski is an Anishnabekwe artist who graduated from York University with BFA and an active teacher in many Native related centers (RECAST). Her gigantic photo gallery entails the sad reality of mass produced figurines,...
