At first, people believed that Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz died tragically shot for the call of duty. He came close to retiring when the officer from Fox Lake, a town on the Wisconsin-Illinois border, had actually died as a result of suicide. Nevertheless, he staged it as a murder scene because he feared facing the consequences after years of embezzlement. Gliniewicz, a 52-year-old police officer, shot himself when he realized his ongoing shady behavior could be brought to light when the administrator wanted to review the village finances, which would bring it to light.

Because Gliniewicz helped with the police youth training program, the unscrupulous cop had access to the funding and stole from this funding for several years. He had stolen more than five figures. He used this money on his personal expenses, adult websites and traveling. A police force veteran of 30 years, Gliniewicz had a funeral with thousands in attendance.
