Scott Peterson was arrested in La Jolla, CA on April 18, 2003 by the California Department of Justice/Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Task Force. He was arrested in the parking lot of Torrey Pines Golf Course, where he said he was meeting up with his father to play golf. He was in possession of several items not meant for golf. Peterson bleached his goatee and hair, but claimed it was from chlorine from his friends pool; later is his fried testified that Peterson had never swam or made use of his hot tub. Before Peterson's arraignment, he had been represented by Kirk McAllister, a veteran criminal defense attorney from Modesto, CA. He told Judge Nancy Ashley at the arraignment that he could not afford a private attorney. Jones Norfolk State University ACADEMIC DISHONESTY, with Internet plagiarism as one of the most common forms, is a concern on college and university campuses more than ever before. A review of the literature validates these concerns. According to a 2003 nationwide research study of 23 public and private colleges and universities, conducted by Donald L. McCabe, Internet plagiarism is on the rise. Thirty-eight percent of the undergraduate students surveyed indicated that they had engaged in Internet plagiarism (as cited in Rimer, 2003). Brown, Weible, and Olmosk (2010) found that 49% of students in undergraduate marketing classes admitted cheating in 1988 versus 100% of the students in an undergraduate management class in 2008; a national survey published in Education Week found that 54% of the students surveyed admitted to Internet plagiarism and 76% admitted to cheating; and the Center for Academic Integrity found almost 80% of the college students surveyed admitted to cheating at least once (“Facts About Plagiarism,” 2011). ...Abstract The quantitative study of the researchers looked into the environment-centered and time-centered study habits of graduating CIHM students of the UPHSD-Las Pinas. Data were collected using validated self-made questionnaire and were analysed statistically. With overall average of 3.19 means that the CIHM students ‘Sometimes’ prefer environment-centered study habits. The indicator ‘I want to have a good light’ has the highest average of 3.35 which means that the CIHM students ‘Sometimes’ prefer to have a good light. Similarly, with overall average of 3.18 the CIHM students ‘Sometimes’ prefer time management-centered study habits. There is very low relationship between the general weighted average of CIHM students and their study habits, and this relationship is found to be not significant. When CIHM students are grouped according to their general weighted average, results show there are no significant differences in the environment-centered study habits of CIHM students; there are also no significant differences in time management-centered study habits of CIHM students; and, in general, there are no significant differences in the study habits of CIHM students. Though the ballots have already been cast in favor of legalizing gambling in the state of Ohio, the Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC) reports that the initiative was only narrowly passed, with just over half of the popular vote (State 10). This leaves just under half of said voters left with what must be feelings of dread and doubt about the new establishments. As a soon-to-be, table games dealer at Cincinnati’s new casino myself, I have an interest in the ways my new profession is portrayed, advertised, and even perceived. This analysis does not aim to explain the ins-and-outs of or even offer a cost-benefit analysis of permitting casinos to operate in a city, or state. Indeed, the focus is on how the two halves of a general public can have such differing feelings on a subject or more specifically, how the materials they are exposed to on the issue can affect those thoughts and emotions.
