1.) The sociological definition of family is a kinship system of all relatives living together or recognized as a social unit. The U.S Census definition is a group of two or more persons related by blood, marriage, or adoption. They compare to one another because they both have similar definitions.
2.) Global Diversity in forms of marriage are varied and extremely different in many cultures. Roles of men and women vary across societies. Some societies expect wives to be subservient to husbands. In Westren industrialized countries, marriages tend to be more egalitarian, which spouses are viewed as equal partners. In every society women learn their role, and that includes having children. In other countries, their roles vary.
3.) The changing patterns in the U.S families and households that have occurred over several decades are that U.S adults are staying single longer. From 1960 to 2008, the median age at first marriage increased from 20 to 26 for women and 23 to 28 for men. Today 13% of women and 20.4% of men age 40-44 have never been married; The highest figures in United States history.
4.) The prevalence of divorce in United States is common in society, and especially todays generation because people take marriage for granted, and sometimes make wrong mistakes of the partner they chose to marry. Other nations have arranged marriages, and different types of rules that the United States does not have. The refined divorce rate; the number of divorces per 1,000 married women increased dramatically from 1960 to its peak around 1980, then decreased until 2005, before increasing again later on.
5.) The strategies to strengthen families, marriage, education, covenant marriage, divorce law reform, and workplace all have to do with the relationships people have with one another. Social
