I chose to do my child observation at a local school, Lemme Elementary. It was on October 20th right after school ended at the after school program. The child I observed was named Scarlett, she is 5 years old and in Kindergarten. She has nothing atypical and is a great learner. She is very respectful, and loves to color. She is very shy and reserved, but when asked to do something she listens very well. Scarlett is very adventurous in her art and is eager to learn new things in the classroom.
Scarlett chose to draw a picture of her mom, playing on the playground with her friends, and a watermelon. She said she always draws pictures of her mom, because she loves her. The playground was where she gets to have fun during school with her friends. …show more content…
Meaning the aspect of culture expressed in images. For example, when we made the visual culture self portrait in lab. “It included many things that meant something to us, and made an impact in our life. It expresses cultural influences and maps our what is important to them and makes them unique. Creating something that is both internal and external personal attributes that have been expressed in some way in your life,” (Visual Culture Self Portrait Slide Show, Studio Week 1 and 3). Scarlett did this with flying colors. First, starting with the portrait of her mom she is a role model for Scarlett and is someone who is always there for her through everything she really admires her so it influences her personal attributes. Playing on the playground with her friends is something that she finds fun and enjoys doing. It helps express and influence that she is as a person because this is where she makes friendships and it is very important to her. Friendships is something that makes a person unique, you share uniqueness with one and other and see common interests to than become friends. Scarlett is very friendly, and while working with her for a short time you could tell that having friends is very important to her. Lastly the picture of the watermelon, this expresses her inner and external attributes. Inner because it is her favorite type of food, and she enjoys eating it. External because it is during her favorite time of the year, and she really likes the

...Kimberly came to my appointment yesterday. She shared with me her frustration in staying at the current shelter. Her story was similar to what you and Sharon told me. She looked slightly irritable while sharing with me couple of the incidents. She was also worried that I would be disappointed on her for ‘creating’ the issues in the shelter. As I suspected, Kimberly seems to experience many confusions as different staff and long-term shelter clients explained some rules and regulations. She said that the rules kept changing on her. Kimberly’s concrete cognition, difficulty in understanding complex instruction, and lack of social skills may result in her making unintentional mistakes. At this point, I don’t see Kimberly as making up or exaggerating...

She observed her interest, and arranged for Lena to discover something new the following day when she only found red and blue paint out on the ease. Lena got exited and starts trying different things with both colors. Corrine’s curriculum focuses on Lena’s interest-a child-centered curriculum (p. 102). Child Psychology Observation Paper

...wondered how a child thinks? What goes on inside a child’s brain, what do they think as they play with a new toy for the first time, or learn how to do something new like riding a bike. Children are complex and normally learn at a very quick pace, their brains are like an absorbable sponge during the early years of their young lives. Children may learn on their own, or learn from observing others actions. Although I am not longer considered a child, I plan on turning back time and observe children’s actions to try to learn about how children think, learn and play, whether it is on their own or with other children. By the end of this, I would like to be able, and others who read this to be able to have an idea of how children act when they are influenced by others, and how they act on their own. I will begin by explaining the children I have observed and the area of development I decided to focus on. Instead of only choosing one child to observe, I was lucky enough to know someone that has three children of all the same age to observe. At the age of 14, my good friend Shelby Nastase became a proud sister of triplet brothers, two of the boys are identical, Jake and Andrew, and one is fraternal, Alec. The boys are now at the age of six, each with their own vibrant personalities. Although all boys look very much alike, especially the twins, each has their own mind and personality that would defiantly make them their own individual. During my observations, I quickly decided...

Pernet And Child Observation Ben Brown April 7, 2002 Report Child And Parent Behavior Observation I am almost always surrounded by the interactions between children and their parents. I hear it at my work, I hear it in restaurants, but most of all I hear it at my house. My mother owns a daycare and every night I listen parents being hit by a barrage of questions. When children are being picked up they always have a couple of questions for their parents. Children are always asking about the meal for the night or whether they can go over to a friend's house or have some body over. Every night I see 12 different children with twelve different parents and it seems that each parent acts differently then the next. When I thought of observing the children that attend my mothers daycare I decide that I should observe the interactions between the daycares "Problem Child" and his mother. The boy that I chose to observe seemed to have no respect for anyone or anything. He often made obvious lies and played practical jokes that physically hurt the other children. On the Friday night that I observed him and his mother...

Students have an obligation to protect children and respect school personnel. Observers are usually visitors in the classroom. The observer must keep in mind that they are a disruption to the regular processes in the classroom and they should respect the classroom teacher’s direction. The protection of the child’s rights in any type of child study is important. Regardless of the procedure used to collect information, the child’s protection is paramount.
