The first five years have so much to do with how the next eighty turn out" - Bill Gates, Co-Chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. In year 5 I was made a playground pal, this meant engaging with lower years during break and lunch time, and since then I have known that I would like to work with children. I am applying for a course in early year's education because making a difference in children's lives is the most important aspect of a future career to me. I appreciate how much work goes into the care of each child and how valuable the experience is. Studying BTEC Health and Social Care has made me particularly interested in the development of the child, family structure, and how the social system can affect their growth and development. Furthering my desire to become an early year's practitioner. I have volunteered to work in my local library for two consecutive years, helping run the summer reading challenge for children aged 4-11. During this time I helped staff with rhyme time and interacting with parents and children. My time was spent talking to children and listening to them. Knowing I had made a difference was extremely rewarding and meant I gained more confidence and experience dealing with children. I have completed two placements one working with students in Key stage 2 at Holy Family School and the other at 'All Sorts' nursery part of All Souls Primary School. In both schools I worked with small groups and individual students, some of whom had behavioural needs. I lead circle times and activities which substantially helped me to develop my skills when interacting with children. In addition I carried out administrative duties creating new welcome packs for children starting in September. In studying Product Design this has allowed me to be creative and develop my ideas, innovative designs and products. Creativity is a key attribute when working in
