Case Study “Choosing A Successor"
July 2015 Paul, the administrator of a multi specialty ambulatory care center, is planning to retire in the next year and wants to begin training his successor as soon as possible. It is our job to evaluate each manager, Taneshia, Felipe, and Amanda, and help with the choosing of who will be best for the position. We will help with identifying each individual's strengths and weaknesses, evaluate important factors with each individual candidate and help Paul to narrow down who we feel is the best fit for the job.
Each candidate has different strengths and weaknesses. Starting with Taneshia, her strengths are, she has been with the center for 3 years, she currently holds a Bachelors degree in Health Administration and is also the Director of Health Information Management Systems at the center. Her weaknesses include her being too opinionated, too hard on other employees, and is known for having a know it all attitude.
Next is Felipe, his strengths include being with the center for five years, he has a Bachelors Degree in Health Administration and a Masters in Business Management. He is good in negotiations and is well liked throughout the center and within the community. Some of his weaknesses include, not having experience in managing any staff, and caring too much about others opinion of him.
Last is Amanda, she has been with the center the longest (ten years) and has worked her way from receptionist to office manager. Her strengths are being a great trainer to her current staff, she is well liked by her fellow employees and already knows how to be a team leader. Her weaknesses include not being comfortable with people of other ethnicity, she is too aggressive, and has a lot of complaints against her from patients.
The factors that are considered important for each candidate are, all of them have years with the company,

Indeed, the abrupt departures of two important charismatic CEOs – Charles Prince of Citygroup and Stanley O’Neal of Merrill Lynch – in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, which fetched these firms colossal losses have made scholars to beam their searchlight on this neglected aspect of corporate governance.
