Abstract Tablet computers are a fairly new player in the personal computing game. Deciding which tablet is the best choice for you, can be a daunting task. There are several good choices out there, but which is best? This feasibility report summarized data from various websites that ranked tablets. The choices were narrowed down to a top performer from Windows, Android, and Apple. This report shows how the Windows Vivotab 8, Androids Google Nexus 9, and the Ipad Air 2 from Apple performed in different categories. Each were compared against the following five criteria: display, camera effectiveness, memory/storage, battery longevity, and cost. A case could be made for each tablet. Both the Vivotab 8, and Nexus 9 performed well, but in the end, the Ipad Air 2 was the clear choice in spite of its potentially higher price tag.

Introduction
Problem Statement Tablet choices are seemingly limitless. How does one decide which one is the best choice? Internet searches sometimes don’t yield the right information. Did the tablets listed on a particular website pay to have their product placed on there? These are the questions a consumer must think about when all they are looking for is unbiased information. Weeding through the babble to get what is needed is the goal.
Purpose
The purpose of this feasibility report was to decipher several tablet comparisons from various websites. A top performer was chosen from Windows, Android, and Apple. Each top performer was tested against 5 criteria in order to determine an overall best choice for buyers. The report should be used as a general guide for anyone wishing to buy a tablet. The final choice will come down to the consumer’s personal preference. Hopefully after reading this report, the consumer will have a clear understanding about the three tablets compared.

Scope The three tablets focused on in this feasibility report were the Asus Vivotab 8 from Windows, the Google Nexus 9 from Android, and the Ipad Air 2 from Apple. Each of these tablets were compared against five criteria. They include: display, camera effectiveness, memory/storage, battery longevity, and cost.

Asus Vivotab 8
Figure 1: Asus Vivotab 8
Figure 1: Asus Vivotab 8 The Asus Vivotab 8 runs Windows 8.1 operating system. This tablets screen size is 8.7 by 5.27 inches. (See figure1) The screen to body ratio is 62.74%. This is due in part to the large black band around the outer edge of the tablet. This band, takes up a significant portion of the screen. The display is comprised of scratch resistant Gorilla Glass. The Vivotabs screen resolution is 800 by 1280 pixels. The pixel density comes in at 189 ppi. The Vivotab makes use of IPS LCD technology for its display. IPS stands for in phone switching. This technology requires two transistors per pixel. This allows for more accurate color representations and greater viewing angles. The Vivotab 8 has a 5 megapixel rear facing camera, and a 1.2 megapixel front facing camera. The cameras lack both an autofocus and a flash feature. Picture results are average at best. Optimal results are achieved outdoors or in highly lighted areas. The Vivotab 8 also is capable of capturing video in 720p HD. Powering the Vivotab 8 is the Atom 23740 chip. This chip is a power efficient quad core processor used in Windows phones and tablets. The processor clocks in at 1860 mhz, and provides smooth use, with very little lag. The quad core aspect allows the chip to act as 4 separate units. Each core has the ability to perform individually specific tasks, as well as working as a single unit for optimal performance. The Vivotab 8 comes in a 32 GB version. This storage can be expanded up to 64 GB more through the use of micro SD cards. System memory is a very robust 2 GB of RAM. This RAM, or random access memory, is the memory that stores the data for processing by the tablets CPU, or central processing unit. The battery in the Vivotab 8 is a lithium ion 4050 mAh. This battery is rather small for the size of tablet it is required to power. Testing was able to achieve about 6 hours of continuous video playback. This was increased to about 10 hours with the screen resolution turned down. Normal everyday use, such as web surfing, resulted in about 7.5 hours of battery life. The Vivotab 8’s battery is non removable, and not easily replaced by the average user. The Asus Vivotab 8 is available in a wi-fi only model. There is no LTE version. It accesses the internet through a wireless connection. The Vivotab 8 has a more than reasonable price of $250. The Vivotab 8’s specifications can be seen in (table 1).

Table 1: Specifications of the Vivotab 8

Display Size | 8.7inches * 5.27 inches | Screen To Body Ratio | 62.74% | Screen Resolution | 800 * 1200 pixels | Pixel Per Inch | 189 | | | Front Camera | 1.2MP | Rear Camera | 5 MP | Autofocus | No | Auto flash | No | | | Storage | 32 GB | Micro SD | Yes up to 64 more GB | RAM | 2 GB | | | Battery Life | 6 Hours of video playback | | | Price | $250 |

The next tablet reviewed was the Google Nexus 9. The Nexus 9 is an Android tablet running Lollipop 5.1 operating system. The Nexus 9 has a screen size of 8.99 * 6.05 inches. (See figure 2) Allowing the 9 a screen to body ratio of almost 70%. It has a screen resolution 1536 * 2048 pixels. This gives the Nexus 9 a pixel density of 288 ppi. The screen is composed of super scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Just like the Vivotab 8, the Nexus 9 uses IPS LCD technology.

Figure 2: Google Nexus 9

The Nexus 9 has an 8 megapixel rear facing, and a 1.6 megapixel front facing camera. The rear camera makes use of an LCD flash, and autofocus. Both significant improvements over the Vivotab 8’s camera. Indoor picture quality is greatly improved but, picture quality on the whole, is still average at best. Under the hood, the Nexus 9, is powered by the NVIDIA Tegra K1 system chip. This processor, is considered to be one of the most advanced mobile processors in use today. It is designed to allow for incredible graphics and power efficiency. The processor is a dual core, 64 bit, 2300 mHz. This processor has been developed to provide lag free use when multitasking. Storage is a definite negative against the Nexus 9. It comes in either a 16 or 32 GB version with no micro SD slot for further expansion. Like the Vivotab 8, the Nexus 9 comes equipped with 2 GB of RAM. The battery in the Nexus 9 is 6700 Mah. On average, this battery provided testers with about 9 hours of continuous video playback. Many testers were able to achieve a full days battery life while surfing the web, and sending emails. The battery is also not removable, and should only be replaced by trained technicians. Display Size | 8.99 inches * 6.05 inches | Screen To Body Ratio | 69.9% | Screen Resolution | 1536 * 2048 pixels | Pixel Per Inch | 288 | | | Front Camera | 8 MP | Rear Camera | 1.6 MP | Autofocus | Yes | Auto Flash | Yes | | | Storage | 32 | Micro SD | No | RAM | 2 GB | | | Battery Life | 9 Hours of video playback | | | Price | $399-$599 Depending on options | The Nexus 9 is available in both the Wi-Fi only, and the 4g LTE models. Wireless only models range in cost from $399 for the 16 GB version to $479 for the 32 GB model. The 4g LTE model comes in only the 32 GB version. The Nexus 9 is packed full of really useful features and is powered by an extremely effective processor. The lack of expandable memory is a serious disappointment especially, considering the lack of available onboard storage. See table 2 for a breakdown of the Nexus 9 specifications.

Table 2: Specifications of the Nexus 9

The last tablet considered for this report is the Apple Ipad Air 2. The Ipad Air 2 was released on October 16th 2014. The Ipad Air 2 runs Apples IOS 8 operating system. The tablets screen size is 9.45 * 6.67 inches. This gives the tablet a screen to body ratio of 71.65%, best of the 3 tablets considered. (See figure 3) The glass found on the Ipad Air 2 has the same components as the Corning Gorilla Glass. Neither Corning, nor Apple, will confirm it is in fact Gorilla Glass. Apple tends to be quite protective of certain aspects of their products. Regardless of whether or not it is in fact Gorilla Glass, the screen is quite hard and scratch resistant. The Ipad Air 2 also has a layer of anti-reflective material that improves viewing the tablet in direct sunlight. It also improves screen resolution in ambient light. The screen resolution is 1536 * 2048 pixels: giving it a pixel density of 264 ppi. As with the other 2 tablets reviewed, the Apple Ipad Air 2 employs IPS LCD technology.

Figure 3: Apple Ipad Air 2

The Ipad Air 2 also has an 8 megapixel rear facing camera. Camera software is extensive and includes a back illuminated sensor, autofocus, touch to focus, image stabilization, and face detection. It also includes several shooting modes. Pictures are clear and full of detail. Best results are achieved in high light areas as there is no built in flash. The front facing camera is an industry average 1.2 megapixels. The camcorder takes full HD movies in 1080p. The Apple Ipad Air 2 is powered by the AX8 system chip. This is Apples second generation 64 bit architecture. The AX8 chip enables the Ipad Air 2 to be the fastest most powerful Ipad to date. The chip is 40% faster than the previous version. The processor is a triple core, 1500 mHz cyclone unit. Everything works cohesively, to give the user, an ultimate tablet experience. Lag is virtually nonexistent, and multiple tabs open with a breeze. The Ipad Air 2 comes in 16, 64, and 128 GB storage capacities, and is non expandable. As with the other two tablets mentioned, the Ipad Air 2 comes with 2 GB of RAM. The battery in the Ipad Air 2 is a lithium ion 7340 mAh. Easily placing it as the largest battery of any of the three tablets tested. Continuous video playback yielded an average of 7.5 hours of battery life. Normal use yielded an average of 10 hours of life. Apple attributes its optimal battery life to the M8 coprocessor. Many users will discover battery life to be more than enough for everyday computing. Unfortunately, the battery is not user replaceable. The Ipad Air 2 is available in Wi-Fi only models as well as 4g LTE versions. Wi-Fi only models range in price from $499 for the 16 GB version, $599 for the 64 GB version and $699 for the 128 GB version. The LTE versions cost $130 more for each of the hard drive sizes listed above. See table 3 for a breakdown of Ipad Air 2 specifications.

Display Size | 9.45 inches * 6.67 inches | Screen To Body Ratio | 71.65% | Screen Resolution | 1536 * 2048 pixels | Pixel Per Inch | 264 | | | Front Camera | 8MP | Rear Camera | 1.6 | Autofocus | Yes | Auto Flash | No | | | Storage | 16 GB to 128 GB | Micro SD | No | RAM | 2 GB | | | Battery Life | 10 Hours of video playback | | | Price | $499-$829 Depending on options |
Figure 3: Apple Ipad Air 2 Specifications

Conclusion The three tablets seemed very similar when viewing the specifications on paper. It is through actual testing when differences become obvious. Testing showed certain models perform better. The Vivotab 8 was the most reasonably priced. This alone, will be an important selling point for some customers. It also runs Windows 8.1, making it a natural choice for many Windows users. Files will easily transfer from desktop, or laptop, to the tablet. However, its lack of 4g connectivity, marginal battery life, and less than decent camera are major detractors. The Google Nexus 9 performed very well. It has good battery life, an excellent processor, and 4g LTE connectivity. On the downside is its price, and lack of expandable memory. The Apple Ipad Air 2 performed the best in most areas of testing. There was almost a seamless connection between user and machine. The processor, battery, and memory options provide for an optimized user experience. The camera was better than any of the tablets tested. The price, though on the high side is warranted because of the tablets performance, and build quality.
Recommendation
After completing the comparisons of the 3 tablets, the data conclusively supported the Apple Ipad Air 2 as the best choice for anyone desiring a tablet computer. Its build quality, performance, and overall specifications make it the clear choice.

Today marketers are faced with difficult choice of choosing a channel in which to market their product and by not choosing one they may lose on an untapped market. With growing use of smart phones, tablets and laptops people first see the product online then in stores and then again online to compare prices and get the best deals so it is important for retailers to make their product available in as many channels as possible. From the graph we can see how digital experience has become a vital part of retail industry and it will keep growing until the next big thing comes in 50 years which is the trend in retail. Amazon Case Analysis

...Executive Summary The competition continues to fortify in the tablet market as new entrants such as Amazon, Samsung, Motorola and Google battle to overrule the already dominant and established Apples, iPad. Jeff Bezos, creator of amazon chose to step out of his area of comfort, away from the online bookstore in attempt to overthrow the tablet industry, he did so an was able to capture half of the non-Apple tablet market. It can be said that Amazon were the one who introduced e-books because of Jeff Bezos innovation and urge to simplify the everyday lives of individuals. Despite the success the Kindle Fire experienced as it entered this market, amazon was moving further away from what they had originally specialized in, and closer to a market which was already established long before they decided to enter. A detailed analysis of Amazons internal and external environment is needed in order to be able to fully understand the condition of the issue and to be able to formulate a successful recommendation that will align with the corporations goals. The internal analysis includes the companies features while the external analysis was conducted using Porters five forces study. The three alternatives that amazon could pursue were: to continue to compete in the tablet market, to step away from this industry and focus on the companies strong areas, and to partner with universities in order to stay close to their comfort zone while still expanding. In the long run, Amazon should...

...Marketing Mix MKT/421 Marketing May 1, 2012, 2012 Instructor: Robert McGeary “A typical marketing mix includes some product, offered at a price, with some promotion to tell potential customers about the product, and a way to reach the customer’s place”. First we are going to discuss the product which is developing the right “product” for the target market. Since there are many variables Perrault, Cannon, and McCarthy (2011) suggest limiting them to the four P’s. The four P’s are the most basic variables Product, Place, Promotion and Price. (Perreault, Cannon, & McCarthy, 2011) When choosing a product certain things need to be considered before introducing to the public. Some things that may attract consumers about a product are the quality, safety, style, brand name, packaging, functionality, warranty, repairs/support and accessories. The product chosen is the BlackBerry PlayBook. On April 19, 2011 the BlackBerry PlayBook was released in the United States and Canada. The PlayBook was then released in the Netherlands, United Arab Emirate and the UK in June, 2011. The PlayBook device runs developed applications by using Adobe AIR. The BlackBerry is similar to the Apple IPad and targets all technology savvy consumers who simply can’t get enough. Its dimensions are 0.9 lbs/425 g in weight, 7.6”/194mm in width, 5.1’/130mm in height and 0.4’/10mm in depth. ...discussed in the assignment. Ipad Mini is the newly released Ipad of Apple Company which is very special in the Ipad category because it is the first Ipad of only 7.9 inches screen and of the lowest price in Ipad series. Compare And Contrast Essay: Mac Vs. Mac

...With many new forms of technology appearing in the world, it has become a complex task of choosing what new gadget is right for the owner. In today’s economy the cheaper option is not always the better option, but rather a modernly priced product that will do its job and do it for a while. This criteria best applies itself to when buying a computer. There are two main types of computers: a Macintosh (Mac) or a PC. Both are great for different reasons, but the main ways that Mac differs from a PC is that Mac’s are much more expensive, they tend to reflect malware and viruses and that a Mac offers less of a choice than PC. If most people were given the option to buy a Mac or buy a PC, mostly everyone would purchase the Mac. The Macintosh system is great, but it is rather expensive. Macs is noticeably much more expensive than PCs. The lightweight MacBook Air laptop is Apple's cheapest and most basic MacBook, starting at about nine hundred and fifty. The average Windows laptop costs around five hundred dollars, but some Windows ten laptops can be purchased for around one hundred and seventy-five dollars, now keep in mind the basic windows ten laptop is a PC and is great for...

New and Improved

...and the biggest of them all, what new wireless Smartphone or tablet product is becoming available. Amazon has announced a new tablet product within the last two weeks, the Kindle Fire, which has made the wireless gadget community take notice. As with most companies that want to maximize their yearly profits, this product is being introduced at the beginning of the holiday buying season. Their positioning of their product, the amount they have stocked, and the eventual purchasing that is seen will let them know if their product will be successful within the economic laws and other determinants of supply and demand. It was speculated last week by industry that the Kindle Fire’s price of $200 will be an amount that consumers will not baulk at like the basic iPad’s $500 price tag, and this week industry may have been proven correct. It is being speculated from inside data that Amazon is getting orders for the Kindle Fire at around 2,000 units per hour, or about 50,000 units per day. With this amount of market demand, the Kindle Fire will possibly outsell in quantity both what the iPod and iPad did on their initial releases. With as much demand as there currently is, and the price of the Kindle Fire being held constant, the other determinants of demand seem to be playing a large role in what is being seen with the largest being the prices of competing substitutes. The iPad, iPod touch, and the Android tablet, may seem a bit too steep in price for certain consumers and...

Cloud Computing

...Introduction What is cloud computing? To explain, it is kind of hard to explain as it is more like technology thing which only IT peoples know well. Assume you have run a big corporation; your responsibility is to make sure your employees have the right hardware and software to do their job. But, purchasing computer is not enough as you need to purchase software license give employees the right tools. This will cost a lot and eventually lost profit. Instead for each computer install the software, you just have to load one application only. That application would allow employees to access to the server and do the works.
