I grew up as a child in the 1960’s and listened to what my parents were listening to. Songs like Finger Popping Time by Hank Ballard and the Midnighter’s, I got a Woman, Ray Charles, The Great Pretender, Sam Cooke and Think by Aretha Franklin, who is said to be the Queen of Soul. These songs were of good times, happy times, they made me feel that everything was well in the world, despite the horrific turmoil in the U.S. caused by the Vietnam War. I still look back at those times as some of the best times in America and my musical experiences. I think the music then reflect my childhood experiences of sensibility, freedom, fun and laughter. My adolescence year’s music seemed to change a bit in America as well as for me and what we listened to in our home, as well as on my own. Music has been known to influence those who listen since the end of the Industrial Revolution, when people had more leisure time and the demand for entertainment and amusement began to increase. This is significant because media has a powerful influence on society and affects how we dress, act, and think. In The Republic by Plato, Socrates argues against Thrasymachus’ idea that "Obedience to the interest of the stronger" will lead to a successful tyranny. Socrates believes that "justice is the excellence of the soul,” and that benevolence is the key to a successful state. Yet humans embody not only Apollo, the god of the sun, of dreams, and of reason but also, Dionysus, the god of wine, ecstasy and intoxication, both sons of Zeus. It turns out having free time, computer skills, and some rhythm are all you need, well some computer First you'll need some great to get started. The first thing you need is a computer. A lot of dubstep is the sound effects. You need a fast computer with a lot of memory. If you want a Mac, make sure it has 1.8 GHz, with an Intel Processor 2-4 GB of RAM and is OSX 10.5 or later. If you want a PC, make sure it has 2GHz Pentium or Celeron processor 2-4 GB or RAM Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7 a sound card with ASIO driver support. Next you'll need a music software, my favorite is GarageBand. The music software is used to prepare tracks, sample songs, mix and record. Other popular software is Fruity Loops, Cakewalk Sonar, and Renoise. You should strongly consider adding external hardware to the setup. Having a basic USB mic on hand to record vocals or raps is a good idea and good way to create new sounds to use. Pre-Production for the new record started on July 31st, 2013 with Nick Raskulenicz revealed as the producer. The band started recording in early September at a cabin in Rock Falcon Studio in Nashville, Tennessee. It wasn’t long until the band’s record label Virgin Records, got involved in the making of Stuck. After, reviewing the band’s track list and demos the label rejected the release of 2 songs “Undercover You” and “Deserve This”. ...“cherry-coloured headaches” is a teenage girl’s story about her experience with sexual assault and abuse. This story incorporates visuals created using watercolours and ink, and is based on true events that many people deal with on a regular basis (SEXUAL VIOLENCE DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE). Upon creating this story, I was inspired by video games, more specifically “The Crooked Man” and “Anxiety Attacks”. Both games incorporate mental illnesses into their plots and I’ve always admired art that tackles real-world issues and executes them in a realistic and respectful manner. Approximately twenty people listened and watched the two person band, filtering in and out.
