I believe the Darrow’s cross-examination of Bryan is unfair. In day seven of the trial Clarence Darrow ask for William Bryan to be questioned in front of the jury. Darrow started the examination by asking Bryan about his religion and then with the use of the Bible, started to ask Bryan more difficult questions. Some of the questions Darrow asked were, “Do you believe that the men who wrote it thought that the day could be lengthened or that the sun could be stopped?” and “Do you know anything about how many people there were in Egypt 3,500 years ago, or how many people there were in China 5,000 years ago?”, which Bryan didn’t know the answer of.
