MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR

The Hilbert Circle Theater

For years I thought that I was born in the wrong generation, maybe because The Beatles music helped me learn English or perhaps that I was pretending to be an eighteen-year-old in 1964 and breathlessly awaiting the arrival of The Beatles onto the stage like those thousands to teenagers watching The Ed Sullivan Show.
My husband and I arrived somewhat early and as we were walking into this magnificent venue, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I made up a very creative story to convince my husband to come along with me, so we were there inside The Hilbert Circle Theatre admiring its infrastructure and trying to figure out if we were the only ones wearing jeans and where our seats were. We grabbed one of the programs and began to read about The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, which quite honestly I have heard before but never even attempt to listen as we were getting ready to enjoy.
As I read on page 51 of our class book “Music Listening Today” by Charles Hoffer, ‘the concertmaster is the last player to enter before the conductor,’… and he points to the various sections of the orchestra, as they play the long tone to tune their instruments to the standard pitch of A440. Well these random sounds were really loud, and somewhat confusing, who would’ve thought that they could play so beautifully. The concert began with a melodious 10 minute medley featuring wonderful musicians and the conductor Jack Everly, who is an experienced veteran in the symphony arts, as they concluded their introduction the audience rose as one to give it a long standing ovation. And then, Classical Mystery Tour arrived onto the stage wearing suits reminiscent of those tribute band comprised of Jim Owen as John Lennon, Tony Kishman as Paul McCartney, David John as George Harrison and

...The Influence of Music on Self and Society - Values in Music in Eastern and Western Cultures David Eaton July, 2003 Throughout history the unspoken but highly evocative language of music has exerted powerful influences on individuals and societies alike. Felix Mendelssohn once remarked that music is more specific about what it expresses than words written about those expressions could ever be. That music has the power to express, convey and illicit powerful emotions is without question, however the issue of music's moral and ethical power, and how that power affects individuals and societies, is one that receives too little attention in our post-modern world. Ancient cultures held strong beliefs in the moral and ethical power of music and as such it was imperative for artists within those cultures to exercise a certain moral and ethical responsibility in their creative endeavors. As a professional musician for over thirty years I concur with that premise and it is primarily from the axiological, rather than a theoretical or aesthetic viewpoint that I approach this discourse. The responsibility of artists to the social environment in which they live and work is something that I have always had strong sentiments. As we now find ourselves beginning a new millennium, questions with regards to music's origins, its spiritual, religious and mystical properties, its moral and ethical power, its transcendent qualities, the role of the arts and artists and the importance of art in general...

Benefits of Customer Service

...Introduction HOW SHOULD YOU INTERPRET YOUR SCORES? In the Answer key at the end of the each set of Listening and Reading answers you will find a chart which will help you assess if, on the basis of your practice test results, you are ready to take the IELTS exam. In interpreting your score, there are a number of points you should bear in mind. Your performance in the real IELTS test will be reported in two ways: there will be a Band Score from 1 to 9 for each of the modules and an Overall Band Score from 1 to 9, which is the average of your scores in the four modules. However, institutions considering your application are advised to look at both the Overall Band and the Bands for each module. They do this in order to see if you have the language skills needed for a particular course of study. For example, if your course has a lot of reading and writing, but no lectures, listening comprehension might be less important and a score of 5 in Listening might be acceptable if the Overall Band Score was 7. However, for a course where there are lots of lectures and spoken instructions, a score of 5 in Listening might be unacceptable even though the Overall Band Score was 7. Once you have marked your papers you should have some idea of whether your Listening and Reading skills are good enough for you to try the real IELTS test. If you did well enough in one module but not in others, you will have to decide for yourself whether you are ready to take the proper test yet...

The investigation was conducted from both a theoretical and an empirical point of view. The contribution of the same industry to the world economy is considerable. Many countries are now dependent on this sector for foreign currency earnings. Every destination country is trying to achieve more gain by developing this industry. The expansion of the tourism through out the world has increased competition among the tourist destinations, trying to attract more tourists by adopting appropriate marketing techniques and strategies. Failure of doing so by a particular marketer will lead to a less competitive in the world tourism market. As an important element of marketing mix, promotion plays the vital role in marketing any product and service. Tourism product/service is of no exception. ...CR TOPIC-WISE EXERCISES (700-800 LEVEL) 1 The 700-800 Club Critical Reasoning Critical Reasoning Topic 1: CONCLUSION 1. • • • • • 2. In the United States, about $5,200 per person per year is spent on health care, while in Britain the amount is about half that. A recent study indicated that middle-aged white Americans have a significantly higher rate of diabetes and heart disease than do middle-aged white Britons. Even after eliminating from the study the lifestyle differences of diet, exercise, smoking, and drinking, the data showed that the Americans have poorer health than their British counterparts. The statements above, if true, best support which of the following assertions? Health care spending in the United States should be reduced by 50%. More expensive health care causes a higher incidence of certain diseases. The money spent on health care in the United States is not being used effectively. The average health care spending for middle-aged white Americans is probably less than the average health care spending for Americans in general. Something other than diet, exercise, smoking, and drinking must account for the difference in health for the two groups in the study.
