Unit Title: Security Procedures in the Public Services
Unit N: 18

P1. Identify the threats and the consequences of a failure in securities that exist to the security of people, property and premises in a public service.
..For this example we take a nightclub with a capacity of about 300 people. My role is DS – doorman. We have to secure the safety of premises, people and everyone.
Potential threats that we possibly can have are: 1. Drunken people coming in 2. Drug pushers trying to get in and sell their drugs inside 3. Overcrowding 4. People bringing weapons in

M1. Explain the use and application of the most suitable security measure to deal appropriately with the threats.
In this case the most suitable security measures to deal appropriately with these threats would be: 1. Drunken people – you can refuse the entry for them. 2. Drug pushers - you can search them; if the drug is found you confiscate it, secure in a secured place and then refuse the entry for them 3. Overcrowding – you use the special counter to count the amount of people who went in and when the critical mass is approaching (in our case it is something like 250-260 people) you have to come out to the queue and tell people that they may or may not be admitted because there is not enough space inside of a venue. 4. Weapons – you search them; if the weapon is found you confiscate it and refuse the entry. In some cases you may also say that you could report them to the police.

With his kind permission, the ICRC has translated it and adapted it to the general plan of one of its recent publications, Basic Rules of the Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols. The analysis of case studies is (if I may be allowed the metaphor) a sort of obstacle race over IHL territory. It is the rider who, on completing his circuit faultlessly, realizes the majesty and beauty of horsemanship. And it is by overcoming all the difficulties of these cases that the importance of IHL, and its applicability to present conditions, will be realized and IHL better understood. The cases are admittedly difficult, but they can be an...

Policing in Los Angeles Airport

...features in local authorities policing is the use of the police department located in different states of the country and cities for that matter. The Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Police Department is one of such departments spread all over the country. The department, also known as the LAX Police Department has a rich history, which is evident from its long existence. This paper presents a research about the Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Police Department from an argumentative perspective. Different matters emanating from how the department operates in Los Angeles are discussed based on how a good policing entity operates when serving the public. The major responsibilities of the police are investigation of crime, patrolling, encouraging community participation in policing, and maintaining law and order (Tambe 42). This requires close coordination and cooperation between different policing experts within a department. It is important to note that police departments are run by security agencies who work under the federal government in a concerted manner. This means that investigative, traffic,...

Compulsory Conscription

...Compulsory Conscription World War II marked the last war that received full American support. The draft, known today as compulsory conscription, was an integral part of that war. Seventy percent of American men aged 18 to 35 served. The common experience shared amongst these men created lifetime friendships for an entire generation. No other conflict since then has come close to producing such national unification and pride of citizenry. So states Charles Moskos, late professor of sociology for Northwestern University, recipient of the Distinguished Service Award for the U.S. Army, and a draftee for the U.S. Army Combat Engineers (Moskos). Currently, however, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the official estimate of the American veteran population is approximately 24,816,000 (“Veteran”). Total U.S. population exceeds 301 million people (“The New Boomers”). In other words, the ratio of veterans to the total U.S. population is less than 10%. Comparison of these figures reflects that American enlistment ratios in the U.S. Armed forces have decreased dramatically since World War II. The U.S. is a dominant military force in the world today; however, it also has allies that it must help protect and defend in the name of democracy. As a result of the above, American forces are involved in multi-theater (or diverse worldwide) roles, both simultaneously and continuously, thus spreading out our troops over diverse areas. Additionally, the extended war on terrorism...

Community Health Nursing Task 2

...Measles Outbreak 2013 Amanda Beasley Western Governor’s University Describe a Specific Communicable Disease Outbreak In early April 2013 a measles outbreak was discovered in North Carolina. By mid-May the outbreak had been identified in Stokes and Orange Counties via 23 active cases. Every case was linked back to a family that had spent 3 months in India and had not been vaccinated. By the 16th of April the state laboratory of Public Health was able to confirm the diagnosis, with the last known case being confirmed on May 7th. The investigation of this outbreak revealed 4 patients with a confirmed diagnosis that had received one of vaccination of the two part series. The other 19 cases had not ever been vaccinated. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services issued a letter informing the community of the outbreak, and offering recommendations for providers in the area. The suggestion was to consider anyone with fever and rash to be positive for measles.
