Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) [was] responsible for marketing and distributing Isuzu trucks in Australia (Bidgoli, 2014, Pg. 250). The company, however, realized that all of their information was disseminated to the truck dealerships in outdated methods, as it utilized the manual form of delivery consuming an excessive amount of time and monetary resources. The company saw the opportunity to improve information issuance, remove errors, and greatly reduce the amount of resources being redundantly exploited. To assuage the dispute of the needless tapping of resources to continue the manual manner of propagating information, IAL turned to IBM WebSphere Portal and IBM Workplace Web content Management, software that provide “enterprise web portals that help companies deliver a highly-personalized, social experience for their customers” through single-point access gates, according to ibm.com. Through the dual content management components, IAL where better able to meet there business partners’ needs by a better mode of collaboration with features such as instant-message for concerted decision making, and through the means of information publishing through the use of the portal(s).
IAL has also taken to knowledge management with the use of wiki systems, making collaboration and knowledge-sharing simplistic and faster. Wikis, a web-based 2.0 technology, provided a collaborative atmosphere in which information can be posted and amended as needed for knowledge-sharing internal between employees, and externally between businesses and their stakeholders, according to Clinebell, Thomas and Sedbrook (2012). Wikis are great collaborative tools that making project progression easier with easily mapped networks of experts on business-related subjects, and through knowledge-sharing of best business practices (Clark and Stewart, 2010). Based upon the previous statement of how wikis are used in businesses as a useful web 2.0 technology to share knowledge and collaborate in project efforts, is natural to know that IAL has implemented the wiki for the aforementioned resolution of collaborating with business partners in decision making and sharing knowledge with dealerships and other employees on schemes of distribution and marketing of the IAL brand. However improving of the recent problem of vintage knowledge-sharing and collaborating, there are challenges to having groupware in place with a business, foremost being the operational feasibility. With new implementations there is a need to instruct users of the new groupware systems how to maneuver and effectively utilize the systems. Having a team of trained IT professionals to educate a select few employees on the manner in which to use the system could resolve this issue. The economic feasibility of having this system in place is to be considered, as well. Is it within the company’s budget to have a groupware system in place? How much money is being lost not having these systems in place? How big and effective of a system can the company have on the budget allotted for such a project implementation, is to also be considered. To resolve this problem, getting top-tier managers to understand the importance of having a system in place will get them to get on-board with a supporting budget. Creating a system that will turn a profit will make the system more economically feasible. Other issues are the matter of system maintenance and management of the information in the systems.
IAL has taken the correct steps in hurdling over the obstacle of antiquated information sharing and collaboration. The company has implemented update portal content management systems to collaborate and share knowledge internally and externally to make faster and more cost effective exchanges of ideas for distribution and marketing. The possible issues of economical and operational feasibility can be overtaken with the implement of an acknowledge team of users and IT professionals that know the value and worth of having groupware systems in place for better information interactions.

...Cisco Systems, Inc.: Collaboration on New Product Introduction Viking Project Cisco 1. What are the challenges and risks faced by technology companies in new product introduction? When an introducing new product there are several challenges and risks that technology companies face and must take into account before starting development. The technology industry is rapidly changing with new technology being developed and introduced every day. Therefore, time is of most importance and indeed a challenge that technology companies face. There were several examples of ´time to market pressure´ in the case of Cisco Systems Inc. While their new product took several years of development work they had a deadline they had to meet and launch the product extremely quickly, or else they faced the risk of losing market share. In these years of development, new product introduction can be very expensive where companies usually risk spending a lot of money and make large number of prototypes with little certainty that the product design will meet customer requirements. When the product finally enters the market, customers might already have a product that fulfills their needs or they might not even want such a product any longer since the industry is in constant change. Thus, a two-way street with customers is very important in a product´s development as mentioned in the case. Collaboration

...Lack of Collaboration and Teamwork Megan Simon October 18, 2014 Lack of Collaboration & Teamwork The concept of collaboration is working with someone to produce or create something. “Collaborative Care in healthcare occurs when multiple health providers from different professions provide comprehensive services by working with people, their families, care providers, and communities to deliver the highest quality of care across settings. Practice includes both clinical and non-clinical health-related work, such as diagnosis, treatment, surveillance, health communications, management, and support services” (Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, n.d.). Collaboration between interdisciplinary personnel is essential to excellence in patient care delivery. Currently there is a growing trend that “the basic education for all clinical professionals should include the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to effectively participate in interdisciplinary teams, and that health care organizations should continue this education in the practice setting” (Ponte, Gross, Milliman-Richard,& Lacey, 2009). Although teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration are ideal for healthcare, unfortunately these needs cannot or will not always be met by healthcare professionals. Collaboration and teamwork goals may not be met and for various reasons. There may be organizational barriers, barriers at the team level or within individual team members. Collaboration

...When collaborating with another individual, especially if they are not in the same department, it is important to make sure that both parties are using the same tools and programs. (Collaboration, 2009) For example, if one person uses Microsoft Works and the other uses Microsoft 7 or an individual uses a spreadsheet to report the company’s financials over time and the other uses accounting software reports, It can essentially delay a project and create inconsistencies. Come to an agreement on the programs and tools to be used for the project initially. Many projects are expected to be completed by an assigned date. Follow up after the initial meeting is important. It is important to identify any hurdles early. This follow up meetings’ agenda should include discussions on updates and statuses on the project as well as address any concerns each team member may have. Keep these meetings short and to the point. It is extremely important to set a pre-deadline deadline. Pre-deadlines help determine if the others require help before zero barrier is reached. Thankfully our collaborative relationships with other departments help to expedite information we need in order to finish the project. It’s always a good thing to have friends in the right places. If there are ever any pressing issues that need resolving, the pre-deadline would be time to voice them. A final meeting should convene with both parties presenting their portion of the project at its completion. The final project......

...Partnerships have the potential to increase resource efficiency, making better use of existing resources by reducing duplication and sharing overheads. They can add value by bringing together complementary services and fostering innovation and synergy (Mackintosh 1992). The impact of the global recession also means that partnership working and collaborative governance is paramount, as the public sector needs to re-think the shape, scope and scale of the services it provides and the way in which they are delivered. More recently greater emphasis has been placed on partnership working through the publication of the Gershon review in England and ‘Making the Connections’ in Wales. ‘Making the Connections’ stresses the need for voluntary collaboration and joint working between public bodies. It establishes a vision for a ‘Welsh Public Service’ sharing common goals and working together in a more integrated way (Welsh Assembly Government, 2006). The Government has also placed a statutory duty on local authorities to form partnerships, including Local Service Boards and Health, Social Care and Well-being Partnerships. All local authorities in Wales have established Local Service Boards, the aim of which is to strengthen collaborative leadership at the local level.
