As Jake lay in my arms bleeding out, I caress his fading pale ghost like cheek. He gave me a final farewell kiss. When I opened my eyes, he was no more. Gone from me without a trace, I searched for him but he was gone. I took off his medal of honor, as they took him away. I knew that was the last time I would see him, I was sobbing uncontrollably.
I cried, sitting there on that cold wet reddened grass. It was now stained with his blood and my tears. “Until next time”, I muttered, now sitting here alone with my thoughts. Alone with my thoughts and no one to talk to, I began reminiscing about when we first met, felt like only yesterday we had met.
It was back on that first day of college. I remember it was a dark and dreary day, I had just …show more content…
All was well so far. I saw him every day before his shift standing watch in the tower. The time had soon came when he was moved into battler, his first taste of live action. My colleague had made a joke about being married to a man who was playing with death.
She was right her guy is always severely injured. I had hoped Jake was doing well. But little did I know it would be his first, and his last battle. The battle was long and seemed to leave a trail of death and destruction. It has been three days since I saw his chiseled chin, bright green eyes that have the bushiest eyebrows ever, I missed him.
Everyday the soldiers were gone the sun shined bright. But on this day something wasn’t sitting right. The clouds consumed the sun within a matter of seconds. It is dark and dreary, the men are finally coming back to the base. Each woman here more electrified than the next, except I.
As quick as it had appeared a jeep was screeching to a halt in front of me. They lifted Jake from the back, he had been shot. I could see death toying with him. Kept him alive long enough to see me. Single shot dead between his chest, clean through his chest out his

How To Be A High School Superstar Summary

...In his nonfiction book, “How to be a High School Superstar”, Cal Newport examines the difficulty “over-involved” students face as they embark in applying for college admissions, by presenting the “relaxed superstars”; whom have less stress, and enjoy subjects they want to pursue, and who’ve gotten into distinguished colleges. Newport first institutes his credibility as an authority by stating in the introduction that he is a graduate of one of the most prestigious school, Dartmouth. This gives the readers a sense of dependability of his advice. In using his method, the Three Laws of a Relaxed Superstar, the sections outline advice on how students can become average to extraordinary and excel in the admissions process. In addition, he has a blog called “The Study Hack blog”, that many students follow and creates more of an ethos meaning more reliability....

...instance, a job resume often begins with "career objectives." That's inappropriate for business school. You'll cover that issue in your application essays, so leave it out your resume. The business schools want you to use a certain format when writing your resume. Don't write a "narrative" resume. That is, don't try to explain your background in the form of a story. Instead, use "bullet items" to explain your accomplishments. I actually like the narrative format better when it's done well. It gives applicants a chance to tell their story in a conversational manner. The problem is that the narrative resume is rarely done well (because most people aren't particularly good writers). So it's best to play the game and use the bullet format that business schools are looking for. The Order in Which You Want to Address Your Personal History Don't start your resume with your educational information. Doing so makes you look like a recent college grad who lacks significant work experience. The schools want worker bees, not college students. Start your resume with work, then included community involvement and activities, and finally address your education. You also want to make it easy for the admissions people to find the information they're looking for. That includes the firms you've worked for, the amount of time you spent in each of your jobs, and your accomplishments in each position. Try structuring your resume in the following order. (1) Your Name and Address What...

...enrollment or transfer to another institution of higher learning. In the study mixed methods were implemented in order attain accurate and reliable results. The sample was obtained from the National Student Clearing house (NSC) and the data focused on 3 cohorts of University of Minnesota- Twin Cities students entering college for the first time. Finding a new definition for academic success in university among first year or transferring students was the key question. The prevailing definition of success was distorted because only the students who completed their studies at initial universities regarded as academically successful. This study focused on broadening the definition of success by including any students who transferred and graduated in another university. The new definition of academic success consisted of students who graduated from the initial university and those who transferred and graduated from other institutions. Factors that helped to broaden the definition of success were analyzed implementing the Binary logit, multinomial logit and multinomial probit models. Dependent variables were three cohorts of students from the initial school of admission and tracking each one who transferred to another school within six years period. The independent variables were First GPA, 1st choice, Pell grant … gender, ethnicity and housing. The independent variables were measured on the dependent variable...

...medical environment. When I was looking into career options, nursing attracted my attention on so many levels. And I am pretty sure both purposes have been successfully met. Ever since I was asked for my aim I was sure about it. I want to be a helping agent. So I decided to become a nurse and I am assured that I made an important decision. I accomplished my School Leaving Certificate from Banepa. I never say I was extra talented and ploy student but I was always hardworking and reliable. Then I got admission in St Xaviers College. It's like a triumph to get admission there. Chasing my dream to become advanced and qualified nurse I applied in Institution of Medicine, Tribhuvan University. Hence I became a registered B.Sc. nurse from Tribhuwan University. I really enjoy seeing that even with my limited knowledge I was able to make a difference in the daily routine of the hospital. My best reward was the grateful smiles of the patients whom I could entertain with my personal stories and divert from the depressing daily reality. As for myself, I would say that these people were also real support for me as we develop a very friendly relationship that allowed me to short the everyday happenings of my life with these people and make them full important through giving advice on different issues. Coming in ward I felt needed because there were so many things for me to do, and people kept coming and asking for assistance. Even being that busy I rarely tired since I was always rewarded...

My Career In The Military

...This past December, I graduated from Tidewater Community College with an associate degree in general studies and was promoted to Petty Officer Second Class in the United States Navy. I never expected to become a community college graduate. I never imagined I would join the military, either. Up to this point, my educational and career journey has been thoroughly non-traditional—marked by twists and turns, changes of heart, and changes of plans. Going forward, however, the path is much clearer. I have spent the last three years executing a plan I made at the lowest point in my life. Hopefully, the next step of this plan will lead me to the Columbia University School of General Studies. For most of my life, I scoffed at the idea of attending...

Difference in Bedside Competencies Between Adn and Bsn Nurses

...Y W. D AV I S P A R T I C I PAT I O N IN CURRICULUM DESIGN of program outcomes has been identified as a core competency for nurse educators A N D E VA L UAT I O N (Billings & Halstead, 2009; Southern Regional Education Board, 2002). Facing declining NCLEX-RN® pass rates, faculty at an associate degree nursing program at a public community college in Mississippi responded to the National League for Nursing ([NLN] 2005b) call to transform nursing education by undertaking an intensive critique of its curriculum and program outcomes. Based on this analysis, a conceptual framework was created to guide curriculum revision, development, and implementation. The framework provides structure for ongoing and systematic curriculum review and revision. A review of the literature revealed the need to move from a teaching-centered to a learning-centered approach to teaching. Learning-centered institutional design is reflective of a number of principles: the need to bring about substantive change in participants; the full engagement of learners and the mindset that students bear primary responsibility for personal choices; multiple learning options to appeal to students’ preferred learning styles; the enhancement of collaboration; educators as learning facilitators; and measurement of success through the documented improvement and expansion of learning. Learning-centered curricula focus primarily on student learning with a goal-based emphasis and the evaluation of learning...

...steadily growing) body of criticism to the story, very little of it explicitly addresses its importance as a tool to facilitate learning or various ways in which to make use of the text in the classroom” (3). As a collection, Weinstock’s The Pedagogical Wallpaper contains informed, detailed, and diverse analysis that attempts to shore up the absence of “pedagogical possibilities” concerning Gilman’s transgressive short story (9). Among the contributors are a MOO space specialist, a Gilman scholar, a queer theorist, an existentialist, a formalist, and several reader/student-response theorists. Because each essayist presents a distinct critical perspective on Gilman’s text, each essay is likewise concerned with “how the narrative teaches and how to teach the narrative” (5). Thus, it seems to me that Weinstock’s The Pedagogical Wallpaper resonates with Pedagogy’s conviction that teaching is central to our work as scholars and educators, no matter what our particular perspective. Indeed, Weinstock’s commitment to diverse and instructive pedagogical prompts is persuasive and liberating, affording ample avenues for new...
