Week 9 Assignment Com/155

...Week 9 Assignment Com/155 2. My final assignment in Com/155 is to analyze two paragraphs, written by two unknown writers; I chose paragraphs three and four. In each individual paragraph, the writers’ attention is on informing the reader about the various processes associated with credit. In paragraph three, the writer began his or her text, by giving examples as to why a person is not eligible for credit. It further explains in the text that upon denial, you would receive a letter from the Fair Credit Reporting Act, documenting the terms of its refusal. Paragraph four opened up by acknowledging that most consumers understand the security and stability of a good credit score; the text further explained the process involved in calculating a credit rating. The writer of paragraph three, style of writing appeared choppy and fragmented; the writer was very repetitious in his or her use of words. Paragraph four lacked the necessary purpose to support the content with in the text. Both paragraphs were affective in there individual ideas, of informing the reader about the do and do not, in regards to obtaining and maintaining credit; still there were some unanswered questions. Paragraph three is the more informative of the two, having purpose, giving examples of why one is denied credit, and content, informing you on the......

The purpose of the essay is to show just how largely the media has effected children today versus how they had effected children that lived in the early 1990s. I want my readers to walk away knowing the major differences in the time periods and how it is effected the way that children act and the knowledge that they have been learning through media. What 3 parallel points of comparison and/or contrast will you address in your essay? For example, if you were going to compare and contrast two teachers, your parallel points might be teacher’s homework policy, teacher’s classroom conduct policy, and teacher’s demeanor. My three parallel points I will be comparing and contrasting in my essay are Television, Celebrities and Music. Each of these forms of media I feel has had the biggest influence on children throughout their respective generations both in good and in bad ways. ...Schizophrenia and Borderline Personality Disorder Stephanie Feeser COM/155F3 August 25, 2013 Judith Rottsolk Schizophrenia and Borderline Personality Disorder Not every disability is visible by looking at a person. Imagine living in a world surrounded by many people yet feeling alone, flawed, damaged, and unable to function in society. A patient suffering from mental illness can have these feelings every day. Education is the key to understanding mental illnesses such as Schizophrenia and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Even though Schizophrenia and BPD share similar symptoms, they are often confused and misunderstood. There are a large number of similarities between BPD and Schizophrenia. Studies have shown that there is a genetic link with both mental illnesses. Childhood trauma, such as physical, sexual, and mental abuse, is a common history for patients with these diagnoses. Neglect of a child has negative effects that last a lifetime. The neglect causes symptoms such as inappropriate mood control, fear of abandonment, and attachment issues. No matter the history, whether it is genetics or abuse, facts show mental illness is prevalent. People who suffer from mental illness have a hard time functioning daily. Individuals with mental illnesses suffer from poor self-esteem and isolate themselves when they are in crises. Patients with these illnesses have contemplated, attempted or were successful with committing suicide. One in ten...

...classrooms or during study groups is not essential to the learning process but is often times helpful and reassuring. Online classrooms are structured so that questions are posted in specific forums based on the content of the question; it may take a couple of days to get an answer about the posted question which makes it important to post any questions promptly and accurately. In the online school world, many communities offer a wide variety of clubs and support groups to compensate for the lack of the ever powerful face-to-face human interaction. Students and instructors alike learn from one other, in a traditional college setting most students are from the same age group and thrive within the same generation settings, because of the nature of scheduling and availability the online classroom structure is composed of many age groups, cultures, family backgrounds, and professional settings. This creates a more diversified support structure in the classroom, which gains the advantage of many views and vantage points. Lecturing, note taking, lab work, question-and-answer sessions, and study groups are some of the activities found in the traditional school atmosphere. Proper techniques are set up in class to help stimulate the learning process in each individual in accordance with the direct supervision of instructors or college faculty. Unfortunately there is no way to ensure that online students are properly learning these techniques until assignments or tests are......

...Final Essay Katie Beauchamp COM/155 June 16, 2013 Dr. Andrews Many people know someone who is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. It is confusing how some people use these names interchangeably. While Alzheimer’s disease and dementia have similar characteristics, the treatment for the disease is based on symptoms as well as how the diseases are acquired. Alzheimer’s is a form of dementia so they are very closely related. (Fraller, 2013) Knowing the slight differences between the two diseases could, in some cases, mean a cure. Both Alzheimer’s disease and dementia are caused by a dysfunction in the brain. In Alzheimer’s disease, there is a loss of brain cells brought on by age. Studies have shown that 10% of all people over the age of 65 and 50% of people over the age of 85 have Alzheimer’s. Out of all those people, only 1% of them inherited the disease. Someone who has experienced multiple head injuries or high insulin levels are also at a greater risk of acquiring Alzheimer’s. On the other hand, dementia is caused by changes to the brain. These changes may be caused by a stroke, brain tumors, or even head injuries. Diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, hyperthyroidism, B12 deficiency, and fluid build-up on the brain have also been known to cause dementia. (Healthwise Incorporated, 2011) Once the causes of the two diseases have been determined, it is important to discuss the symptoms. The similarities between the symptoms of Alzheimer’s......
