The Dark Knight

...1 Revision Practice Angelia Renee Cady Com/156 May 15, 2011 Jennifer Iott Revision Practice After reading the draft of The Dark Knight, if there are any revisions to be made to improve this paper, keeping in mind the concept behind essay revision. Revising is looking for ways to make the ideas that this essay is built from clearer, stronger, and more convincing. When revising, always keep in mind that he/she may have to add, cut, move, or change whole sentences or paragraphs. When writing something like, “The Dark Knight was the most popular film of 2008,” there needs to be some kind of fact that backs this statement up. The awards that the film was nominated for or won can be mentioned to help give this comment some weight behind it would be appropriate. If it were me writing this essay on the Black Knight, I would want the world to know how good the story line is. Rearranging the order of the paragraphs would be appropriate, it is my opinion that the writer jumped ahead of himself/herself. I find that the information is a little scattered. Paragraph #2 and #3 needs to change places. The information in paragraph three is a continuation of the first paragraph. It gives the audience a look into why they will always view The Dark Knight as an outstanding movie. All the information concerning Batman Begins should follow after the second paragraph. This means, the original second paragraph is the third......

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

...Com/156 | Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder | Persuasive Essay | Individuals suffering from post-dramatic stress disorder (PTSD) could find a great deal of relief in the facilities and support groups available throughout the country. Post-traumatic stress disorder has been an issue haunting Americans for generations; the lack of a viable cure also makes its common existence extremely dangerous. It’s understandable that victims and their family members would do anything to help this terrible mental disorder, and with modern medicine and psychiatric evaluation techniques; a sigh of relief can be taken. For years this condition has been seen a form of mild psychosis rather than a treatable medical condition, the instability involved in the victims of this illness isn’t easily ignored. The world around us is filled with terror and angst, so much that often the human mind tends to bend and break rather than adapt to these wild events. The effects of traumatic events vary from person to person and it isn’t without trail that studies begin to unravel what causes PTSD, and from that moment civilization has been on an evolutionary path to break down and understand what can be done to help. The most common association with PTSD is the mental state of soldiers returning from war, these individuals experience violent and graphic scenarios and often fall victim to instability in the mind. Events like going to prison and domestic abuse are also common factors in the acquisition of......

...Final Essay Prostate Cancer Terry L. Miller COM/156 Sunday June 1, 2014 Amanda Kosmus Prostate Cancer Treatments, Breakthroughs, and Survival Rates By: Terry L. Miller It is almost a given that everybody knows somebody who has been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, or will be diagnosed with it sometime in the future. Being diagnosed with Prostate Cancer is no longer considered a death sentence and does not have to keep one from living a long life. What if one were told that a new treatment was available to totally wipe out the early stages of Prostate Cancer? Would anyone believe it? Well they need to, because it is true and under clinical trials here in the United States. “High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound” (HIFU) will do just that. The (HIFU) treatment destroys cancer cells by heating them with highly focused ultrasonic beams. “Sipuleucel-T” (Provenge), is a treatment vaccine that has also been proven effective, and recently received FDA approval. These two treatments alone have advanced Prostate Cancer treatments considerably. In 1975, the yearly Prostate Cancer diagnosis rate for new cases was 94 out of every 1000,000 men. The rate in which they died in the same year, was 31 men dying out of every 1000,000. Let us move forward to the year of 2007. In 2007, the yearly Prostate Cancer rate for new cases was 166 out of every 100,000. Also in 2007, the...

Gre Method

...10 Steps to Earn a High GRE Score The following is a guide to scoring high on the GRE test. If you follow these steps, your GRE score will improve. 1. Relax: Preparing for the GRE can be stressful. Try to focus on the task at hand and not so much on everything else you have to do. If you take GRE test prep step-by-step, day-by-day, and give yourself breaks when your body needs them, you'll be able to concentrate on GRE studies a lot better. 2. GRE Diagnostic Test: Begin GRE test prep with a GRE practice test to find out what you're good at, and more importantly, what you're not good at. Correct your completed practice test and evaluate the questions you missed. What kind of questions did you miss? Are they mostly Quantitative or mostly Verbal? What score would you give yourself on Analytical Writing? Did you miss a lot of analogies but do well on reading comprehension? With this information you'll be able to focus your GRE test prep studies on your weaknesses. 3. GRE Study Plan: With your GRE weaknesses in mind, make a very specific study plan for yourself. You should know what, how, and when you are going to study for the GRE test. Put your study plan somewhere in plain view, and make sure you stick to your plan. Try to keep GRE test prep interesting by planning to study different things in different ways. For example, study GRE vocabulary from flash cards one day, from a list the second day, and by reading and learning words in context the third day. 4. GRE......

Film Noir and Romance: It’s No Fairy Tale Baby

...Film Noir and Romance: It’s No Fairy Tale Baby Film Noir may not seem like a very romantic subject considering how many of the couples in the films are eventually lead into their death or a prison term. There are some romantic aspects to these type of cinema. Even if a couple does have a tragic end, there is always some sort of romance in the middle. It could be lust or love, but it is usually there. While all Film Noir never ends as fairy tale, an audience can look at most of the films and see how love, or lust, can drive people to do despicable acts of crime. Before describing how romance and the many varying types of love appear in Film Noir, it is important to understand the different gender roles each character plays. The male protagonist paired with a femme fatale is the usual leading roles in a Film Noir, but that isn’t a hard set rule. Men can play the male victim, damaged men, a private eye, a psychopath, or a homme fatal, (Spicer 85). Women can also play a variety of roles such as the nurturer, the good-bad girl, the female victim, or a femme fatale, (Spicer 90). Male victims can be a protagonist who just gets trapped in the web of lies weaved by a beautiful woman, a femme fatale. The damaged man is usually a veteran who has a hard time adjusting to society after war or a police officer who loses control. After seeing so much violence it is hard for some men to see the world as a happy place. These men are usually paired with a nurturing female character. A......
