Challenges are quite common when deciding what to write and can possibly discourage a person all together from writing a complete essay. Many challenges come to mind when writing an assignment, one that comes to mind for me is the topic sentence. Often I find myself trying to pick the perfect topic sentence to write about, sometimes I feel it would be easier if I was asked to elaborate on a pre-decided topic. However; we as students are encouraged to express our own opinions in our writing. Another challenge that comes to mind is the ability to fully understand the topic I am asked to discuss, not knowing enough about a topic may be a disadvantage considering because more research will be required so that I can present enough viable information to get my point across. Lastly, another challenge that I think of is to understand the tone and audience of my written paper. It is very important to consider who I am addressing through my writing. I feel that I need to be careful with the words I choose as well as the tone I take with the type of essay that is being written.

There are also many challenges that I must overcome to allow myself to write a well-educated essay. For example, a challenge that I seem to not have so much trouble with, but should be acknowledged is procrastination. Throughout the course of the week leading up to the due date of assignments, I allow myself plenty of time to research as well as write a rough draft. This always allows me the ability to deal with less stress whenever an important assignment is due. Occasionally, unexpected circumstances arise when I may be crunched to do more work in less time, so to avoid this I always try to work ahead to make sure that I know about what I should be writing about so I can at least gather an opinion and think about what I actually want to discuss in my writing. The last thing I prefer to do before

...Assignment Week 1- 9/26/11 Aziza Gary Com/156 Instructor -Carrie O’Connell When I think about the challenges I will face writing a paper a lot of different factors come to mind. Writing a college paper or any type of writing has never been a strong point for me. Here are a few challenges I will face in the next 9 weeks. One serious challenge is procrastination. I recently learned that people will be slow to complete things, they truly don’t enjoy doing. English has never been my favorite subject and my writing skills, to me leaves much to be desired. This negative thinking, which is challenge number two for me does not provide me with a great learning environment. The last challenge for me would be trying to exceed my own expectations. I strive to be the best at everything that I do. As for back as I can remember English and Math have always been very tough for me. If I don’t envision a great paper there won’t be one. Let me present my challenges; procrastination, negative thinking, and over achievement. I know that only one of these items was cover this week in our studies, but this was my honest answer. When I re-read my top paragraph I realized that sometimes I can be my own worst critic. Getting my education is extremely important to me. In order to achieve my goals I must face my fears of writing. By giving myself time to study and research my topic I am sure to find something interesting to write about. Child Abuse - a Lifetime Sentence

...Child Abuse a Lifetime Sentence Jolene Dancliff COM/156 05-6-2010 Dan Price Child Abuse a Lifetime Sentence Once into adulthood, victims of child abuse search for some form of coping mechanisms to forget or mask the trauma and the pain of child abuse. According to Shub & Cabrera (2011) “Every week 60,000 cases of child abuse or neglect are reported in the United States, and 3 million reports of child abuse or neglect are being filed every year” (p.1). Approximately 50% of child victims abuse drugs or alcohol. (Shub & Cabrer, 2011). The abuse often stems from a response to guilt or a negative self-image. Although as serious as child neglect is, physical abuse more often will result in the abuse of drugs or alcohol. Poverty, social inadequacies and lack of academic achievement all lead to the probability of an adult survivor turning to drugs and alcohol as a way to relieve their internal turmoil. Adult survivors that suffered poverty in their childhood struggle financially due to inadequate resources to obtain quality education. They also have a lack of adequate housing or access to nutritional food. These all increase the odds of the survivor turning to substance abuse. People who are abused often are unable to fit comfortably into any social setting. Because of their insecurities and their uneasiness, it is easier for them to cope when they become intoxicated or high. It bolsters confidence and gives them a false sense of confidence. However, for some...

Low Testosterone in Male's

...Low Testosterone in Male's COM/156 Do you as a male feel more tired than usual? Do you have a lower libido than usual? Maybe, you just feel more depressed than in the past. These are only a few of the symptoms a male can experience if he has low testosterone. When most people talk about testosterone they mostly associate it with the male sex organ, but it is so much more than that. Testosterone is a hormone that is made by your body and is responsible for several different functions. This hormone regulates the development and distribution of male hair, changes in body mass and strength, fat distribution, sex drive and sexual function, mood and energy levels, and last bone strength. According to the Obesity, Fitness & Wellness Week journal (2012) “Low testosterone is the most common cause behind many age-related ailments faced by men of all ages.” (p. 900). Juvenile Offenders: Children Worth Giving a Second Chance

...Juvenile Offenders: Children Worth Giving a Second Chance Sarah Kee COM/156 June 13, 2012 “Young people are not only disproportionately the perpetrators of crime; they are also disproportionately the victims of crime”—Kelly Richards. When I think about the severity of crime, my last thought is that a child would commit such thing. When that does happen, it comes as a shock to me. Although I do agree that a juvenile should be punished for their wrong doings, I don’t agree with that way the law handles things. Juvenile offenders charged as adults are being robbed of their lives and deserve to get a second chance to make better decisions. My Take on How the Law Handles Juveniles Offenders From a personal standpoint, I can’t help but disagree with how the law sometimes takes its course. In this case, my matter of contention is juveniles being charged as adults for severe crimes. That’s not the only problem, not only are they being charged as adults, but also they are being sent to these adult prisons to serve time. I don’t want to give off the wrong impression that I feel it’s alright for children to commit such severe crimes and not have some source of consequence. The controversy here is to look at the big picture and consider another alternative for the problem. I’m aware of the severity of one committing a homicide or even a sexual assault, especially for it to be a child. That intuition comes from somewhere though. Causes of Juvenile Abomination There are a few...

Public-Key Encryption

...Public-key Encryption Saint Leo University Network Theory & Design COM-309 Dr. Eduardo Bautista August 01, 2014 Public-key Encryption Intent The intent of this paper is to present the reader with an explanation of Public-key encryption without delving too deeply into the math behind encryption schemes to better facilitate understanding for the layperson. Introduction Cryptography is a fascinating world that predates computers. Beginning in ancient times through the revolutionary period and into modern times, there have been many schemes to protect sensitive data. Notable technics are George Washington's book-key ciphers, Thomas Jefferson’s ‘cylinder,’ (Menezes, Van Oorschot, & Vanstone, 1997, p. 243) and the Nazi Enigma Machine of World War II. (Piper & Murphy, 2002) There has always been a need to have secure communications and the ability to safeguard data that has been intercepted. Modern Cryptology is an art form that uses the science of mathematics in order to provide secrecy, authenticity, and security in the transport of data. “Cryptology also enables us to create trust relationships over open networks; more in general, cryptographic protocols allow mutually distrusting parties to achieving a common goal while protecting their own interests.” (Furnell, Katsikas, Lopez, & Patel, 2008, p. 105) The methods by which these transactions can occur are many; however, they can be broken down into two categories; symmetric key encryption and...
