The name of my tribe is Comanche Indians. The Comanche Indians originated in Wyoming right before the year 1700 and were first part of the Shoshone people. They left the Shoshone people on horseback and traveled down the Southern Plains. They settled in New Mexico, southeastern Colorado, southwestern Kansas, western Oklahoma, and finally, most of northwest Texas. Over the years most Comanche people have moved to reservations in Oklahoma, where they can be found living today.

The men would hunt the meats to eat, mostly buffalo, elk, black bear, pronghorn and deer. The meats were cooked over a fire. The women would gather fruits and nuts and other agricultural foods. Dressing the Comanche people often came from what the men hunted. The women wore dresses made of deerskin, and the men wore leggings and shirts made from leather and animal fur. Both the men and women wore moccasins on their feet. A headdress, or hat, was made for tribe members out of eagle feathers.
