It means that if you already know one Window application, even one as simple as the Paint accessory, it will be that much easier for you to learn Microsoft Word because all applications work basically the same way. In similar fashion, it will take you less time to master Microsoft Excel once you know Word, because both of the applications share a common menu structure with the consistent ways to select commands from those menus.

Mark Henderson 128th MPAD, UTARNG CAMP WILLIAMS, UT — Ever since I was a little boy, I dreamed of being a Soldier. Now I’ve achieved my dream and work as a reporter for the Utah Army National Guard. Being a journalist, my duty is to cover an event and not be part of it. Today I have the honor of covering the 58th Governor’s day. It’s a crisp, sunny morning and families line the parade field at Camp Williams, Utah. Children play and argue as their parents’ watch the Soldiers and Airmen form up on the emerald green field. The servicemembers are lined up in their formations standing behind unit commanders and flags; at a distance they almost appear to be toy soldiers. Looking at the family members watching the troops in formation, you can almost see past deployments in their faces, a sense of worry or concern, but all of them proud. Normally Soldiers and Airmen are in formation for over an hour to march for just a few minutes. Anyone in the service can tell you that we all know how to march. American troops have been marching since the birth of our nation. Originally marching was how troops maneuvered on the battlefield. Now it is used in basic training to build discipline and esprit de corps. We also...

With the advancement of IT in the sports sector, sports is now enjoyed on a global basis through the countless dedicated sports channels throughtout the world. Such of the magnitude of viewers sports comands, it remains an integral part of our society. The new technology available to sport not only affects the number of viewers but also athlethes, coaches, trainers, referees and many more. One advantage of technology in sports is the use of software to assist the referees in making important decisions in a match situation. A case study I will look at is the use of 'goal-line technology' in soccer. It can be described as ''a method used to determine when the ball has slightly crossed the goal line with the assistance of electronic devices and at the same time assisting the referee in awarding a goal or not.'' (Wikipedia). A chip is planted inside the playing ball and is linked to a device on the referees wrist. When the ball triggers the sensors on the goal line by crossing the goal line, it will triggger a signal that is sent to the referees device on their wrist. The referee then is sure the ball crossed the line for a goal, and this elimnates the human error factor in awarding goals in soccer...

Principles of Management

...MGT301: Principles of Management 2012 The organization which I worked for and am going to focus on is the United States Army Reserve Component Transition Branch. This organization assists Active Duty Soldiers in weighing their options after their initial commitment. “Explore your options and incentives available in the Army National Guard or U. S. Army Reserve.” (USAR 2012) I will discuss how they use strategy to “sell” the United States Army Reserve (USAR). “Managers exist in every business. In fact, managers do the same types of tasks in all businesses. Whether a person manages a hair salon or a factory, the manager’s job consists of similar tasks. Planning, organizing, leading and controlling all serve an important part in achieving management’s vision. Each component is important and one cannot function well without the others.” (USA, 2012) Planning: “Planning enables managers to align resources (labor, input, technology) with company goals and objectives (output, profit). “ (Principles of Management 2012) The first component of managing is planning. A manager must determine what the organizations goals are and how to achieve those goals. Much of this information will come directly from the vision and mission statement for the company. Setting objectives for the goal and following up on the execution of the plan are two critical components of the planning function.” (Reserve, 2012) In the Reserve Component Transition Branch, planning is the essential part of the...

Irrationality Of Love In Twelfth Night

... their haste was ignored as the authentic nature of their relationship was evident. Also, fate bringing the two together further provides Olivia with her true desire. Even if Olivia believes that Sebastian is Viola, she is able to fall in love with his physical body, and not just the personality of Cesario. Sebastian, on the other hand, falls in love at first sight. His love, based only on the first impression, is an incredibly real reaction to a seemingly wealthy and beautiful woman asking to marry him. At a certain point, however, he does suspect both his and Olivia’s sanity. He feels the “air” and the “glorious sun” and knows they are real, yet he still wonders if Olivia is mad. He then understands that “she could not sway her house, comand her followers… with such a smooth, discreet, and stable bearing” (4.3.1-20), if she were crazy. Olivia then goes onto ask Sebastian to “not blame [her] haste” and “go with [her] and with this holy man into the chantry by” (4.3.23). She then asks him to profess his vows, while she does the same, and they are married. Despite their irrational love, in that they meet and marry in less than a day, they do end up happy and with what they wanted all along. Olivia wanted Cesario, but could never have a woman pretending to be a man. Because Sebastian is a near carbon copy of Viola, even having similar personality traits, he is able to fulfill the love Viola could not give Olivia. As a result of this when Sebastian is completely willing to marry...

Holocaust

...Andrea Cohen October 4th, 2012 Professor Marcel Nazi era- Companies that Help in the Holocaust Throughout history, there have been important events that have distinct a particular ethical issue within various companies. One of these horrific events was the Holocaust, which is defined by Michell R Marrus as “the systematic mass murder of European Jewry by the Nazis”, which “sits uneasily in the history of our time” (Marrus, 1987). To many people the Holocaust is still a source of remorse. Consequently they feel embarrassed, since many were apathetic towards the people suffering, but many also believe that historical investigations can bring about additional insight regarding companies and their commitments. The Holocaust is a part of the history that produces an uncomfortable sensation because of the horrible that happened in this era. As Nora Levin stated, it is not only the magnitude of the destruction- the murder of six million Jews- but because the events surrounding are in a very real sense incomprehensible. No one can understand how mass murder in such a scale could have happened or could have been allowed to happen. The purpose of this paper is not to talk about the Holocaust, however, to create a profound analysis of the German automobile companies that helped the Nazis to perform and gain profits from this holocaust of innocent people. Examples of these companies are the Ford Company, BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke), Daimler Benz, and Volkswagen. From 1930-1945...
