Being a journalist, my duty is to cover an event and not be part of it. Today I have the honor of covering the 58th Governor’s day. It’s a crisp, sunny morning and families line the parade field at Camp Williams, Utah. Children play and argue as their parents’ watch the Soldiers and Airmen form up on the emerald green field. The servicemembers are lined up in their formations standing behind unit commanders and flags; at a distance they almost appear to be toy soldiers. Looking at the family members watching the troops in formation, you can almost see past deployments in their faces, a sense of worry or concern, but all of them proud. Normally Soldiers and Airmen are in formation for over an hour to march for just a few minutes. Anyone in the service can tell you that we all know how to march.
