With new advances in technology advancing so rapidly, business communication is rapidly changing with those technology advancements. Before 1990, businesses used writing "letters" or used a landline telephone to communicate with their clients. During this time, many business communications were held as conferences and meetings in a face-to-face environment. Today the business world has a different countenance in communications. | | In business today, there are many new forms of communications. The innovation of electronic business tools is one such form of new means of business communication. "New software programs and devices continually enter the market to help businesses. However, acquiring new technology and helping workers master it requires an enormous capital investment." Locker and Kienzler (2008) p. 13. Some of the new ways that businesses are communicating involve electronic devices. These devices can help businesses and their stakeholders stay up-to-date on projects and important events. These devices make communication quicker and easier for everyone involved. With businesses using these means of communicating, this helps to increase productivity and quickens communication with the company’s stakeholders. However, in many businesses, people find they are "overwhelmed" by such electronic means of communication. It takes a large amount of time, training, and capital to learn how to use these communication tools. A preferred means of communication for coworkers, vendors, and customers is e-mail. E-mail use can be overdone, which leads to an overload of information; some of it good and some of it junk. Even with filters and electronic security measures, information still pours in.
