More than four in 10 of the UK's top companies will struggle to recruit graduates this year because of the low calibre of candidates, research found yesterday.
Employers said that although many university leavers had good academic qualifications they lacked essential soft skills such as communication and verbal reasoning.
The findings by the Association of Graduate Recruiters showed that the recruitment shortfall in the graduate market is increasing: whereas fewer than a third of the blue-chip employers reported a problem in 2005, the figure grew to 43.3 per cent in 2006.
The report said employers felt that there was an "inadequate supply of applicants of sufficient calibre".
"They [the employers] go on to explain that candidates are normally academically proficient but lacking in soft skills such as communication as well as verbal and numerical reasoning."
The survey of 211 employers found recruiters are looking to fill 15.1 per cent more graduate jobs this year.
Nonetheless, businesses will be offering below inflation increases in graduate pay in spite of the increase in vacant positions.
Carl Gilleard, chief executive of AGR, said: "The main shortfalls appear to be in industries where specific qualifications are essential, such as construction and engineering, and where applicants are unable to demonstrate the right combination of 'softer' skills such as team-working, in addition to their academic achievements."
In the construction sector 83.3 per cent expect a recruitment shortfall this year, followed by 80 per cent of engineering and industrial companies.
Almost 60 per cent of professional services companies do not expect to fill all vacancies in the next recruitment cycle and exactly half

It is essential to align the business side of Clapton Construction lined up with the recruiting goals and strategies. New Laws of Recruitment in Singapore

...labor or foreigner labor. In case, the government of Singapore will raise the minimum wages to $3300. In order for this rule to have any meaning, the country should first have minimum wage laws. Without this, in Singapore any employer can advertise a job at any salary they want. Therefore if any employer wanted to circumvent this law, the easiest thing to do would be to advertise the job at a very low wage rate. In this way they can easily eliminate any Singaporeans, who has to live in Lee Kuan Yew's HDB flat and send his children to school and pay the high cost of living. After that all they have to do is to claim no Singaporean applied and the job immediately goes to the foreigner. However, the government should carry out wage surveys...

...North Atlantic Free Trade Organization (NAFTA) and the European Union (EU). Both of these agreements take countries that are in similar regions and in certain economic ways. All countries in the EU have the same currency which creates certain benefits but has also created economic disaster for many countries involved. The goal of regionalization is to benefit all countries involved and become stronger globally as a whole. These two forces have had tremendous impact on the small African nation of Lesotho. Foreign influences have shaped Lesotho throughout history and currently determine their economic factors today. ...Section I: Situation Analysis Jasco is working to be the leader in plug-in lights by utilizing licensing agreements and partnerships with box stores. Jasco is looking to expand their online presence and distribution capacities to deliver value to the customer. The market that Jasco is in is the home lighting segment but more specifically the various categories of night lights. The motion night lights utilize the use of “enbrighten” which is a term Jasco uses to describe their long-lasting LED light bulb. The bulb is said to never have be replaced and since all of these are motion lights they do not have to be turned on either. To communicate this to the customer they utilize a well-designed website and also put this on the packaging. To help sell the product and to also further communicate value, Jasco has a licensing agreement with GE. The second category of plug-in lights are the Projectables. Projectables are an innovative way to market to kids. They project their favorite Disney, Nickelodeon, Marvel, or DC Comics character on the ceiling for a night light and entertainment utility. Jasco does not advertise so their primary way of reaching their consumer is to package the product nicely. With the licensing agreements with Disney, Nickelodeon, Marvel, and DC Comics, Jasco utilizes that recognition to help sell their products. Jasco utilizes video demonstrations on their website as well as YouTube. In the Jasco building there is a production studio to increase this unique...

...Clark Melissa Etter Aimee Lindamood Alex Reynolds “It was love at first squeeZ” Secondary Research: INDUSTRY When exploring current trends in the food industry, some observations become clear: the population wants food that is natural and free of artificial ingredients, not only for their children but also themselves, and most importantly they want it while they are on the go. Researchers at the SIAL conference in 2009 concluded that manufacturers are constantly finding innovative ways to include natural, healthy ingredients in their products, with “all-natural” foods becoming a major consumer demand. But is this costly, natural approach impacting consumer-purchasing habits? NERAC Research Firm states that even with economic struggles, “consumers still want a convenient, quick, fresh, healthy, tasty and sophisticated food experience” (Nerac). Interestingly enough, consumers will spend the buck for a healthier eating experience, allowing manufacturers to gain more capital in exchange for fewer ingredients used. In addition, it is apparent that manufacturers are taking advantage of the consumer habit of eating away from home. According to retail-merchandiser.com, consumers are more interested in snacking to get their daily nutrition, and eating fewer full meals. To achieve this on-the-go lifestyle, parents are turning to convenient food pouches. Neil Grimmer, a pioneer of food pouches for toddlers, calls it “mobile food technology for the modern family” (Richtel). This...
