The lead up to Julius Caesar assassination compared to MLK were quite contrast. The conspirators thought that killing Caesar would reestablish democracy in Rome. He was a military commander, dictator, and politician. Brutus says, “Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. Had you rather Caesar were living and die all slaves, than that Caesar were dead, to live all freemen?…as he was valiant, I honour him: but, as he was ambitious, I slew him”(Shakespeare Julius Caesar 3.2.21-7). Caesar had the loyalty with the army he had a lot of power and everyone knew it. A group of senators planned to collect knives and hide them and kill Caesar in Senate. King Jr was assassinated in a crowd of people which he was shot, while Julius was assassinated in private. Julius Caesar struggled to conquer all others to rule Rome, unlike MLK who fought for freedom and all equal rights. King knew him stopping the struggle for equal rights one day will cause his death, he explained to his wife. “This is what is going to happen to me also. I keep telling you, this is what is going to happen to me also. Also, there's many similarities both Caesar and King shared. Martin Luther King is similar to Julius Caesar because he was very disciplined. Caesar won many votes with the promotion of democracy as King to support to end racism. The audience would turn their views into King and Caesar favor because, they were both great speakers and could easily influence you. Caesar is daring because he started Civil War by crossing the Rubicon River and Martin Luther King also daring ,because of his race to end segregation.
