In some ways the ibis symbolizes Doodle. The ibis is small and fragile like Doodle; the ibis is red while Doodle bleeds red. They are both rare and fragile creatures. Also, just like the ibis, Doodle dies in a storm. Doodle and Ibis are similar in a few ways They are both out of place and are placed in an environment that is hostile towards them. Doodle’s family are aware of his disabilities and therefore, they treat him with extra care as if he’ll die at any moment. Doodle was the “outcast” in his family. Just like the ibis who felt out of place in the environment he was forced in by the storm which it wasn’t used to. This made it difficult for it to adapt.
