“The Way of Two Countries” The Czech Republic and Brazil are very different in many ways. Not only are their geographical locations different, but also the language and way of life. Both countries have many beauties, but have a long hard history to get that way. These countries are very different and unique in their own ways. Both countries are very unique and different in ways such as their wildlife, history, and attractions. Czech Republic is thought of to be full of buildings and human activity, but wildlife is present in this country. Of course there are mammals such as rodents and birds such as woodpeckers. There are animals located here that one cannot find in Brazil, for example the European Jackal. The European Jackal is also known as the Caucasian wolf and the reed wolf. The jackal is one of the rarest and least known native canids of Europe. The average size of both sexes is around 47-49 inches tall. The beautiful fur is usually coarse and brightly colored. Another animal of the Czech Republic is the European otter, there colors are usually brown on its upper body and cream on the bottom. Otters have a hard life of living due to pollution and the growth of pesticides used. Brazil’s wildlife shows more vibrant colors of those located in the cold Czech Republic. The Toco Toucan is a bird from the jungles of Brazil. Though the Toucan is listed on the threatened species list, they can still be found in nature. The huge bill of the Toucan can range from 6-9 inches long depending on the bird, the bird usually weighs closer to two ponds. There are many poison dart frogs located in the Brazilian jungles, but the Yellow Banded poison frog is the most common. The frog along with the Toucan, is also listed on the threatened species list. Bright yellow and black are a clear sign of toxicity, the toxins can lead to heart failure and fibrillation. Czech Republic was formerly known as Bohemia, but the Czech was formed in in the late 9th century. In the 19th century the Czech lands became the industrial powerhouse for the Republic of Czechoslovakia which was formed in 1918 following the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire after WWI. Just as many foreign countries struggled with their leaders forcing communism, the Czech Republic was able to became its own country January 1, 1993. With all of the problems the Czech people have been through, many are led to live a life of non-religion. “Although religious rebellion and warfare played a pivotal role in Czech history, the Czech Republic today is considered one of the least religious nations in Europe, with some 40 percent of the citizens declaring themselves to be atheists, agnostics, or nonreligious.” (Mahoney).
Brazil was originally indigenous people who lived in the jungles throughout the hills. In the year 1500 the first Europeans developed a colony in Brazil. From around the 16-19th century, Brazil was a colony of Portugal. In September of 1822, Brazil declared its independence from Portugal and became a monarchy, the Empire of Brazil. The Czech Republic has many attractions such as the Prague Zoo, Charles Bridge, and the Prague Castle. Prague’s zoo is around 111 acres full of common and exotic species. The zoo was intended to open for study of zoology, protect wildlife, and educate the public on the species. Along with have so many species, there are 133 of these species listed on the critically endangered list. The zoo has a small tram to let visitors travel without the hassle of walking the huge zoo. An Africa section is the zoo, with many animals found in Africa’s wild. The zoo also has a polar bear, Sumatran Tiger, gorillas, and a fur seal exposition. Charles Bridge is a famous historic bridge which crosses the Vltava River in Prague. The bridge is usually packed with visitors but shows an excellent view for sunset. While the Prague castle is the official residence of the president, it was opened in 870 AD with Renaissance and Gothic theme architecture.
When Brazil is brought to mind, most think of the Christ the Redeemer statue located in Rio de Janeiro. The artists to design and configure the statue were Paul Landowski and Heitor da Silva Costa. The beautiful and historic religious figure gives many locals and tourists religion hope from being so inspiring. “Further, it is distinguished from the others by its overly religious character and, because of its location in the heart of a major city, its ability to interact in a variety of ways with millions of people on a daily basis.” (Holston). Both countries are very unique and different in ways such as their wildlife, history, and attractions. The differences in these two countries are widely different, complete opposites. But the two countries also have one wonderful thing in common, which are human beings. Many places throughout this Earth have differences. It is quite amazing to go in depth to contrast one to another.

...Habits A tragedy is best described as a start with a plight that affects everyone, meaning the entire cast of characters involved, the protagonist must solve this problem which more than likely ends in exile or worse yet, death. On the other hand, a comedy can be seen as a beginning with a problem, but one of significantly less importance. The characters try to solve the problem and the story ends with all the characters uniting in either a marriage of a party. Although these two genres are seen as being complete opposites of each other, through further analysis one can gather that though they are different certain similarities can also be seen. One aspect of these genres that can be compared and contrasted is the narrative or plot. A comparison can be analyzed in that both begin with a problem. In Oedipus Rex, the play begins with a plague devastating the city of Thebes. In A Midsummer Night's Dream there is also a plague that is upon the land. However, a difference between these two beginnings is that in Oedipus Rex the citizen are effected by it to the point that they look towards Oedipus for a solution to their suffering; while in A Midsummer Night's Dream, the effects of the plague are never shown to the audience and it seems a minor detail. Another difference is the cause of the plague in the two plays. In the tragedy, Oedipus Rex, the hero ends up being the cause because he murdered the king; while in A Midsummer Night's Dream the cause is a fight between Titania and Oberon...

...To compare and to contrast is to identify the similarities and differences that have been found to produce the greatest measurable impact upon student achievement of the nine learning skills. Short stories are always very enjoyable to read. They are very concise but mostly have such a deep message resonating throughout the text that the reader is left pondering over an extension of the story to imagine the possible ending if they were novels instead. The works under consideration are meant to be compared because of their unique theme which reflects how two authors can write similar yet distinctive stories in different times. In anything you write or read there are some similarities and differences with another piece of literature. I would like to share the difference and similarity on the theme GenderRoles/Marriage. The corresponding works that I have selected are “The Story of an Hour (Chopin)” and “The Necklace (de Mauppassant).” I chose to analyze these particular because this subject hits home. I love to read love and romance novels, short stories, and poems. The story of an Hour was my favorite piece of literature from the listed. I think everyone that reads this will have a private perspective. When Mrs. Louise hears from her sister Josephine and friend Richard, of her husband’s death, she reacts with obvious grief, and although, her reaction is perhaps more violent than other women, it is still appropriate. ...Good Parenting Good parenting is the upbringing of a child or children with care, love and guidance given by the parents. The way the child is brought up determines whether or not the child is integrated into society or has problems accepting society. Parenting plays an important part since it acts as a bridge between a child’s understanding of them and the world. Good parenting consists of morals and values, effective communication and trust. Morals and values are essential aspects of proper upbringing in a child’s life for good parenting. Teaching a child good morals and values enables a child to make wise decisions in life and also help them to be critical thinkers. These morals and values enhanced the child intellects when taught at an early age. A child with good morals and values will have respect for their elders, leaders, country and most importantly themselves and would be accepted into society. Another strategy for good parenting is effective communication. In society presently, the communication between parent and child is crucial from an early age because of the vast pressure a child encounter as a pre- teen or teenager. When communication is implemented early a child can be assisted by the parent with their various problems such as peer pressure, bullying or even personal problems. Since the child accepts this communication with the parent, the child confides in their parent about anything and everything and this can prevent major consequences such as suicide,...

...Aaron Hailey 2.9.15 Comparison-Contrast Essay Block 2 Cowardice can be shown in many ways. Torturing others and putting fear into the hearts of innocent people is one of them. In Yevgeny Yevtushenko’s “A Precocious Autobiography” and Burton Raffel’s translation of Beowulf, Red, a Russian bully who rules the streets of his neighborhood, and Grendel, a terrifying monster who can never be loved by God, are two bullies who, though they are worlds apart, share many of the same characteristics. Like red, Grendel enjoys petrifying his victims with his intimidating presence. Red has an advantage over the other boys because he is much bigger than them. “Red could stop any boy and say impressively the one word “money”(490). He appears to be unbreakable with his strong build, but the reader should know that just like any other bully, red is a coward deep down. Grendel’s appearance would send chills through pretty much anyone’s spine since he is the Devil’s child. Grendel is described as a “powerful monster, living down in the darkness” (ii 1-2). Even though he is a demon, he’s still capable of being a coward. He insists on feeding on the lives of innocent people who stand no chance against him. If that isn’t pure cowardice, I don’t know what is. However, Grendel works alone while Red works with his “lieutenants.” Red needs the assistance of other boys so that he may look much tougher than he actually is. “Two or three lieutenants, in peaked caps back to front like Red’s, trotted...

...Dytayja Cohen English 101 In Class Essay: Comparison Contract Essay Professor Brown Rich Neighborhoods vs. Poor Neighborhoods In America, there are Many types of neighborhoods, but two specific types of neighborhoods are rich neighborhoods and poor neighborhoods. Rich neighborhoods are usually inhabited by people who make upwards of $100,000 per year. Poor neighborhoods May be inhabited by people who Mame much less than that. These two types of neighborhoods are usually drastically different. In rich neighborhoods people tend to live in huge houses. In some Cases, it may seem as if all of the houses look the same, maybe not on the outside, but all of the houses may have the same building structure. The outside of these houses may be nicer than many othwe houses in different neighborhoods, because these people either have the time to mow the lawns cut their grass, plant gardens, and trim the hedges or they may have the money to pay other people for these services. Rich neighborhoods may be seen as snobbish, or that people just buy these houses as a status symbol, because there usually aren't that many people living in one big house. For example, one person may live in a five bedroom house. Some people may think that one person simply does not need to live in a house that spacious. Living in a rich neighborhood is also more beneficial for the kids because there are better resources. For example, there may be more options to different types of schooling...

...Contrast and Comparison of Operating Systems Team B will take what we have learned from our course POS/355 Operating systems and research to compare and contrast the UNIX/Linux, Microsoft Windows, and MacOS systems. In particular we will contrast and compare the different operating systems in regards to memory management, processing, file management and security. Operating systems at the core is all about the kernel. The kernel in all of the operating systems is the main component that is responsible in the management of memory, processing, file management and security. Contrast and Comparison of Memory Management within Operating Systems Memory management in comparison and contrasts between the different operating systems is due to the way the kernel works in conjunction with the memory. Since each operating system has different kernel’s they each have similar and different ways that they manage memory. Contrasts and comparisons on Mac OS, Windows, and UNIX/Linux are described below. 1. UNIX: Though UNIX and Linux are extremely similar when it comes to how things work internally; there are slight differences that make UNIX distinct from its counterpart. One process that UNIX utilizes is known as swapping; this is done by moving chunks of the Virtual Memory (called pages), out of the main memory and moving others in. In order for this process to work at its best, those pages that are needed must be accessible in the Main Memory at the demand of the CPU. When a page is...

Comparison and Contrast of Management Styles

...A comparison and contrast of four organizational models This paper is a comparison and contrast of four organizational models. The Four models of organizations are autocratic, paternalistic, supportive and collegial. I will refer to the aforementioned models as Models I through IV respectively. In an autocratic style of model, the superiors do not take into consideration the ideas and suggestions of the subordinates. The managers, leaders and superiors have the sole responsibility of making decisions without bothering much about the subordinates. The employees are totally dependent on their bosses and do not have the liberty to make decisions on their own. The subordinates in such a style of working simply adhere to the guidelines and policies formulated by their bosses. They do not have a say in management’s decisions. Whatever the superiors feel is right for the organization eventually becomes the company’s policies. Employees lack motivation in autocratic style of working. In a paternalistic style of model, the leaders decide what is best for the employees as well as the organization. Policies are devised to benefit the employees and the organization. The suggestions and feedback of the subordinates are taken into consideration before deciding something. In such a style of working, employees feel attached and loyal towards their organization. Employees stay motivated and enjoy their work rather than treating it as a burden. Each model will be describe the framework...

Comparison and Contrast on the Compromise of 1850

...Comparison and Contrast between William Henry Seward, John C. Calhoun, and Daniel Webster’s Speeches on the Compromise of 1850 The Compromise of 1850 was a proposed solution to the conflict over slavery in the new territories acquired in the Mexican-American War by Kentucky Senator Henry Clay. It consisted of laws that admitted California into the Union as a free state, the Fugitive Slave Act would be amended, the slave trade in Washington, D.C. would be abolished, a government created in Utah, and boundaries set between Texas and New Mexico. The Compromise of 1850 was first introduced at the Senate meeting in February 1850. The proposal brought about heavy debates from John C. Calhoun, Daniel Webster, and William Henry Seward. They were similar because each man loved and served their country and was passionate about their view of the issues of slavery and the new territories and believed their opinion was correct; however they were very different in what each believed to be fair and true. John C. Calhoun of South Carolina did not support The Compromise of 1850. He believed it was a betrayal to the south. He argued that the North and South were almost on equal grounds when the Constitution was ratified with an equal division of the States, but all of this was threatened by the Northern influence on government. Clay also argued that if Northerners wanted the south to stay in the Union they would have to stop in their attempts to limit slavery. Daniel Webster of Massachusetts...
