Features of the Three Programs
The following lists the main features of the programs; namely features that make the programs stand out.
Publisher 2010
 Has some photo editing options, such as cropping and brightness.
 A wide array of templates (for brochures, business cards, flyers, etc.) available from the program itself and available from the internet.
 Enhanced and custom typography available to make text customizable. This feature allows the user to make text impactful by changing the alignment and the orientation in 3-dimensional space.

InDesign CS5
 Extensive photo editing options available in a side toolbar.
 Very strong typography with effects, layouts and other features.
 Automation, allowing a user to let the program itself to automatically do repetitive tasks.
 Includes many templates with more available for download from the internet.
Xpress 8.0
 Very strong typography options with effects, layouts, and other features.
 Strong photo editing options.
 Some templates included in the program itself with some available for download from the internet.
Overall, Microsoft Publisher 2010 fits the company’s needs the most. Xpress 8.0 and Adobe InDesign can be looked upon as industry standards and are used by professionals doing desktop publishing for a living. Xpress 8.0 and Adobe InDesign CS5 are beyond the company’s needs.
Ease of Use of the Three Programs

 Easy to use compared to the other two candidates.
 Can be a little intimidating to learn with its new design and layout especially coming from an old version of Publisher.
 Some tutorial articles and tutorial videos available on the internet. An extensive list of help items available in the program itself and in Microsoft’s website.
 Installation is very easy.
InDesign CS5
 A lot of tools and options available and intended for end-users.
 Many tutorials available by both Adobe and third party sources on the internet.
 Installation can be a bit difficult because there are so many options equipped with this program.
Xpress 8.0
 A lot of tools and options available and intended for end-users.
 Some tutorials on the internet.
 Installation can be a bit difficult because there are so many options equipped with this program.
Overall, Microsoft Publisher 2010 is the easiest to use from the start. InDesign and Xpress are intended for end-users and can take a lot of time getting used to.
