“You cannot predict the outcome of human development. All you can do is like a farmer create the conditions under which it will begin to flourish” (Gaille 27). Human development is a complex process. Hereditary and environment are contexts of development, which is different for everyone and can result in many different forms of developmental processes. However, many scientists have formed their own theories as to how development occurs across the lifespan, each having its own strengths and limitations. My own development is unique, but has fallen very similar to their stages, which have been proposed by different scientists. The prenatal period involves three different trimesters that my mother went through to give birth to me. During theses three different trimesters, I was transforming into a little human being in five stages of development. During the first trimester I went from a zygote to an embryo and then a fetus. In the second trimester, I was still a fetus but was growing rapidly (Berk, 81). The third trimester is when I was waved the checkered flag because I had made it through all the trimesters and was ready to enter the world. My mother was very knowledgeable, concerned and aware of various teratogens that could affect me in her womb. Because of this, my mother kept a balanced diet, exercised, went to regular doctor checkups, took prenatal vitamins, excluded alcohol, pop, and other things from her diet, as well as gave an all-natural …show more content…
Luckily with me, they already had experienced that dramatic adjustment to the new family unit after my older sister was born. My birth still brought change to the family and adjustment was needed, but not as drastic as the time my sister was born. My parents both knew the routine, the feeding schedule, how to change diapers, etc. I was a bottle fed infant, like my sister, because my mother preferred not to breastfeed and it would have been difficult with her work. Luckily, I was a quiet, happy little baby. When I was made upset, my parents knew certain soothing methods would calm me down, such as my pacifier, swaddling, rocking, or swinging, if it wasn’t because I was hungry, tired, or needed my diaper
