Introduction to Computers and Applications

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to identify a problem that we face in our daily lives. It will explore how the use of a computer can help to resolve or reduce this problem. I have chosen to look into the troubles that we face with our automobiles. In this paper, I will explain the various ways that computer systems can help us to avoid the issues that many of us face day to day with our vehicles which we rely so heavily upon. It will give specific examples to justify its use.

Computers for Cars Automobiles are relied on heavily throughout everyone’s day. Whether it is commuting to and from work, school, or just for recreation, vehicles are somewhat of a necessity. With this necessity, there often comes the dreaded car trouble. However, thanks to modern technology, computer systems have alleviated some of the stress when it comes to difficulties with vehicles. Let’s explore this more. Computers have enabled drivers to become more aware of what issues their vehicles may be experiencing. Often times, a sensor light can indicate some sort of car failure which can prevent major damage. Just imagine how unfortunate we would be without a low fuel sensor, a low battery sensor, or check engine light. Because these computer systems are in place to give awareness, the actual damage that could have been caused can be solved ahead of time to eliminate that risk. How often have you been headed somewhere, and suddenly find yourself completely lost? Imagine the time that it would take for you to find your way on your own or to stop and ask someone for confusing directions. With the recent computer technology of GPS and navigations systems in vehicles, this problem can be reduced drastically. Eye (2011) states, “…we have become pretty much…...

...become sales pariahs the question comes that booms is whether the automakers would still be able to sell every car they have. With the lethal combination of a slumping economy, tight credit, depressed homebuilding, and record high gas prices, Americans can't afford to buy as many new cars as they once did. And the models they want are smaller and more fuel-efficient. Even with deep discounts and heavy incentives, the rows of unsold Dodge Rams and Chevy Trailblazers parked in front of dealerships across the country barely seem to thin. Unlike Shaws or Wal-Mart none of these manufacturers do buy backs of the merchandise a retailer doesn't sell to a consumer. The misconception many people have about new-car sales is that the automaker is actually doing the selling to consumers but in reality, a manufacturer sells to a dealer, and it's up to the dealer to retail the inventory and in this case it’s the same story with AutoNation they are being loaded with the unwanted inventory which results in stocking up there yards and also getting them costs such as interests on the money that had been borrowed from the bank. I would interpret my research in sort of an example from the car industry itself say for instance a dealer buys a new vehicle at wholesale from the factory, it's up to them to sell it, because there is no such defined period in which he might be able to sell that car. It may take longer than they'd like, and they may not get the price they want, but sooner or later,......

...Cars One of the most important steps in becoming an adult is your first car. When you have a car, you don’t need to rely on other people for rides to and from where you want to go. You also learn a great deal, thus making you a more responsible person. I live in Putney, a small town in southeastern Vermont, but I worked and went to school in Brattleboro. Brattleboro is a slightly larger town about a half an hour south of Putney. Since we had to keep stopping to pick up kids, the bus ride to school took an hour. As such, I had to get up a half hour earlier on days I had to ride the bus. That was a huge pain, especially since I hated the bus anyway. After I got my car, I could sleep in. I could also go out to lunch when I was at school, therefore being able to eat where I wanted, and not in the cafeteria. In addition, I could drive myself home after school. That was beneficial because I could hang out with my friends, and go to concerts and movies. I could do whatever I wanted, as long as I made sure my parents were okay with it. My social life improved greatly with the acquisition of my car. If I hadn’t had my car, I could not have worked where I did. I worked at a Lebanese restaurant in downtown Brattleboro. Part of my job was rolling grape leaves in the wholesale department on Mondays and Tuesdays. The job was great, but I never really knew when I was going to be finished. In wholesale, you work until you’re done. When my parents had to come pick me up after work, I...

...When asked about a car, most people think of transportation, a way to get from point A to point B, but to me my car serves as a shield. A shield that allows me to separate myself from problems and the stress that sneaks into my daily life. For ten minutes in the morning every weekday, I strap myself inside this shield. I don’t stress over a math problem. I don’t read about the issues going on in our society today. I turn the radio on in my car and although it’s tempting, I don’t think about anything but the road and the music. Strapped inside this shield with nothing but the radio on and the open road in front of me; I am content. A common issue most people face is the lack of time they have during the day to enjoy their life away from work and struggle. I know my mind is constantly running, thinking about the events in my day’s agenda and how on earth I’m going to accomplish all of them by sundown. Most people use every opportunity they have during the day to complete their work, so they do not have to bring it home with them. This is why you see people texting while they are driving, or sending an email in the middle of traffic. So that when they go home they have one thing less to worry about, and have more time to enjoy their time away from work. The bizarre thing is my mind seems to come to a halt when I step inside my car. Any thought related to work or stress is eliminated. The unfinished work finds it’s way into my trunk. I no longer think about the agenda I have......

...With the progress of science and technology, the cars have already become an important part in our daily life. It is known as a vehicle with four wheels and it contains an engine and that is used to move from one place to another smoothly and quickly. The cars are one of many very useful transportation methods; it gives the freedom to travel to anywhere and on anytime. In this essay I will compare and contrast this transportation method between the past generation and the present generation. This essay will focus on three key areas – engine, safety and technology. The first area that this essay will consider is about cars engine, the most importance thing in the car is the engine which it is the thing that makes the car move. In the past, the people were just wanted a car to reach them from point A to point B, so the car engine was so simple. For instance, the mechanical engineer Karl Benz created the first car engine which it called (Benz’s engine), the automobile was motorized by a 0.75-hp one-cylinder four-stroke gasoline engine. Furthermore, the speed of car was just 16 km/h (10 mph) (1). Besides, it was not need a lot of energy and it caused lots of pollution. With the technological advances; in current generation the car’s engine is working the basic principle like in the past by air and fuel combustion to create a rotational force and move the car, but the modern cars engine has become more developed. Where it is characterized by more reliable, more efficient and......

...California, a Prius—one of the cars in Google’s fleet of autonomous vehicles—caused a fender-bender. The accident happened, naturally, because there was a human behind the wheel. That's according to a new report by Google about its self-driving car project, a document that tallies every accident since it began testing its 32 vehicles on the roads in 2009. That sounds like it could be a massive dataset, considering the tens of thousands of accidents that happen on American roadways each year. It actually isn’t: “In the six years of our project, we’ve been involved in 12 minor accidents during more than 1.8 million miles of autonomous and manual driving combined,” Google wrote. “Not once was the self-driving car the cause of the accident.” Not once! In the case of the fender bender four summers ago, a Google employee—yes, a human—was to blame. He had borrowed the car to run a quick errand and ended up rear-ending another car. (“He was not using the vehicle to test our autonomous technology,” Google wrote, and the car ended up sustaining “some damage.”) So what ended up being probably a pretty bad day for that Google employee—imagine telling your boss you crashed the driverless car—turns out to be a tidy example of the key difference between human drivers and algorithmic ones. Namely: Robots are much, much better drivers than humans. Google’s descriptions of the other accidents involving its self-driving cars reiterates that point. Its cars were rear-ended eight......

...still going to cost you a tidy five-figure sum to buy the necessary parts, materials and paint supplies needed to transform an old car from a worn-out relic to a dazzling show beauty. If you've decided to restore a particular old car because you have a longstanding attachment to that model and are not concerned about its value or whether parts can be easily found, then we applaud you--that mindset should be the primary focus of this great hobby of ours. However, if you enjoy old car restoration but prefer your projects to be easy and relatively cheap to do--with, perhaps, the added bonus of making a few dollars on it when it's done--then these are the cars you should consider for your next venture. Of course, the majority of these cars won't make you stand apart from the crowd at a show or cruise-in, but you will be able to complete their restoration far faster and a whole lot cheaper than if you chose a car that was rare, or had only been made for a few years. Another factor to consider is the actual purchase price of the car. While some of the cars listed here can be bought for around $5,000, others will cost four times as much even if they're basket cases--but keep in mind that those higher-priced cars will also bring four times the money when sold, so it kind of equals out. But the one common feature enjoyed by most of these cars--and the main reason why they are on this list--is that they're backed by a huge parts supply, making them a lot easier to......

...brand-new construction site in New Delhi, India. The construction of this plant, which only builds Stark models, was started in April 2004 and became operational at the end of 2006. The final aim is to manufacture some 200,000 cars per year. This is the first large Stark plant on India soil. It is the definitive link of the brand with our continent, building pickup trucks according to the highest India quality standards. This new production unit will not only set the tone with new standards on efficiency and productivity, but will consequently also respect the strictest environmental standards in the Asia Union. Since quality is a top priority for Stark, 1 in every 15 employees is responsible for quality control. The New Delhi currently employs 1,200 of the very best specialists in pick-up truck assembly. Exporting Decision While Stark enjoyed a relative dearth of competition in its core domestic market, it also launched an aggressive and successful export campaign during the 1980s that penetrated Japan and Europe, among other regions. By the mid-1980s Stark was selling about 300,000 pickup trucks annually, still mostly in South Korea. A major breakthrough for Stark occurred, however, when it started shipping automobiles to one of the largest international car market, Africa. Stark reached an agreement to supply Nivan with its KL1500 model. The KL1500  was a “micro pickup” aimed at the low-end buyer. Stark planned to ship about 70,000 units annually for Nivan and a like......

...unanimous. The ad should tie in with my theme throughout the year, namely the ad should be aimed at selling the Giulietta as a family car for real people. Thirty seconds is such a short time that I am going to be quite definite in my target audience. My advert will be targeted at women and small-to-established families where I believe the Giulietta fits perfectly. These modern women are conventional but each has a strong independent inner voice and also likes to do their own thing. I am going to make an advert that sells the Alfa Romeo Giulietta as a family car for women who want to have it all. Women who want to do the “family thing” but who really do not want to lose their identity as a “Real Person”. Women who want to immerse the precious years between 30 and 45 in their families, careers and interests that make them happy. Women who are dynamic, who value their friendships, freedom and independence and who take on life’s challenges with strength and poise. It is hard to summarise my favorite practical features in our much loved Giulietta but for the purposes of the advert I will focus on the the features I believe women (and men) value highly today. I have spoken to so many people in the past year about what they look for in a car and I believe Safety, Space, Style, Price and Reliability are the most important features they look for in a car. The effects of the Irish and global financial crisis meant we are all increasingly cost conscious. In the current......
