Use a memo you have written, one that one of your peers or your manager has written, or one of the following from the University of Phoenix Virtual Organizations' intranet sites: • Kudler Fine Foods: Training for New Cash Registers Memo located under Administration > Communications
Evaluate the memo using the following criteria: • Organization • Clarity • Tone • Writing style • How you reacted to the memo
Write a300- to 500-word report in which you comment on each of the criteria and make suggestions for improvement. After reviewing the memo from Kudler Fine Foods I have suggestions for improvement of the memo. When it comes to organization the writer should have used the memo template checklist, meaning to have the identification lines include Date, To, From, and Subject lines. Looking at clarity It is obvious that the writer is requesting recommendations to determine the best means to deliver training, but there is no clear due date for the recommendation which leaves it open to the reader’s choice as how long to take to render a recommendation. The tone is one of slightly unfriendly directive. The writer could have used a phrase like “I am looking for any insight you may have on this matter”. The writing style is concise and succinct, which is good but could have offered just a bit more information like when the deadline for the recommendation was, and also could have included a request for face to face time to brainstorm some ideas for training implementation. My reaction to this memo is that while it lays out the bare bones ideas trying to be conveyed, it lacks some key essential memo components. While the introduction gets right to the point of the memo, there is no part of the discussion area that lets the recipient know why they should care about this whole endeavor. Once again the conclusion gives directive action

Business codes are widely used globally to prevent unethical means in the organization, an increasing number of companies have adopted business code ethics, 52.5% of Fortune Global 200 companies in 2004 (Kaptein, 2004) compared to 87% of Fortune Global 200 companies in 2008 (KPMG, 2008).
