For nine years I have had responsibility for the communications, marketing, public relations and overarching engagement strategies for the programs I have managed. For the past four years, this has been within the ACT Government, prior to this at Council on the Ageing ACT (COTA). I actively seek to further develop the skills required to meet the changing environment of communication techniques to ensure the programs I manage excel in their delivery.

COTA is a not-for-profit working to protect and promote the wellbeing, rights and interests of all older people in the ACT. I lead the team to ensure proactive public relations focus to promote PANDSI, as well as crisis communications which focuses on preserving the organisation. I have developed a reputation for being a manager and President that can be relied on to be truthful and helpful, which ensures that I am perceived as credible during sensitive situations.

As the manager of Healthier Work, ACT Government I set the work priorities for Healthier Work through an Annual Business Plan, Budget and a Marketing and Communications Strategy. I consult and negotiate with other agencies regarding the Annual Business Plan to make certain the governments overall objectives are met, while ensuring that Healthier Work meets its own …show more content…
This has been gained through formal training in Advanced Social Media Strategy and Media Management. Practically, my learning’s gained through my personal involvement with the media as the spokesperson for PANDSI and viral media interest gained for the organisation in May 2016, when I delivered ‘PANDSI Cake Off’. This event was well supported by the Canberra community, raised $20,000 and elevated the profile of the organisation. My highly tuned stakeholder engagement skills have resulted in the ACT Government committing $25,000 in donation matching over four years for future ‘PANDSI Cake Off’s’. My ability to lead the small team during this fast paced, highly anticipated and media focused event. The skills I have gained from working across the spectrum of community, private and public sector ensures I have a breadth of learnt knowledge from real situations where I was required to act quickly and decisively to ensure positive public relations
