Integrating an Efficient ERP System to introduce virtual billing and Inventory Management at Penske Truck Rental
Proposal
Topic
This proposal will introduce the integration of efficient billing and inventory maintenance throughout Penske Truck Rental, the impact it will have in comparison to current operations, and proposes a solution. Penske sustains multiple ERP systems (RentalNet, ServiceNet, AS400, etc.) as well as maintains physical copies of inbound and outbound vehicle inspections. Throughout all the divisions, this standard has led to an absence of IT costs as the individual systems are not responsible for storing data significant to the lifespan of the vehicles as it relates to damages. Financial records are not readily accessible to consumers as data is only stored in a system manageable through Penske employees. These seemingly minor details promotes the absenteeism of technology. Incorporating the use of a more efficient ERP system in a cloud computing environment will impact the structure to manage, acquire, and utilize data for billing and operations.
Problem
The business problem to be addressed and solved is how to better utilize IT to reduce responsibility of employee operations, increase awareness of equipment inventory management as well as financial management aspects of Penske Truck Rental.
Approach
Define the margins of the cloud computing systems to determine how to integrate efficient ERP platforms to incorporate IT costs, advance the financial reporting process, and improve upon the operational processes and equipment monitoring efficiencies across the board. Penske Truck Rental employs over 22,000 associates with over 335 locations in Northern America.
