The summer has ended and it is time to start planning for the 2013 summer program. With the planning on the way the center has hired four more team players to help run the center and help with the summer program plans. The team members are: Christine (the head coordinator), Dani (an employee for three years and has helped with the program for the past two years and she is very open minded to change), Mike (is new to the center and ex military with a strong over powering tone), Fran (is new and one of the youngest team members and has worked for the YMCA in the past with their summer program), Vaughen (is new and has an follow the leader attitude), and the last new hire is Ebony (she has a take control attitude and is very pushy). This is the team that is going to help plan for 2013 summer program at the center. They have been given a year to have it all planned out from the programs, cost, events, field trips, transportation, and so on. But as they go into their first meeting there is already tension in the air with some of the team members. Christine has notices that there are some personalities that are trying to overpower others. It is causing attitudes to run high and emotions to carry over into the work place. The best way to help with this is to first call a team meeting to talk about the issues at hand. In the meeting the main topics that need to be addressed would be: 1. Understanding team dynamics and encouraging good relationships. 2. Selecting and developing the right people for the right positions. 3. Delegating effectively. 4. Motivating people. 5. Managing discipline and dealing with conflict. 6. Communicating. 7. Planning, making decisions, and problem solving. 8. Avoiding common managerial mistakes.

...Creating a Plan for Positive Influence Sandra Frieze University of Phoenix Creating a Plan for Positive Influence The effect of a positive influence plan in a business can transform a working environment, especially when a team needs to work together for a period of one year before the project is complete. Productivity increases, customers are more satisfied and new clients are attracted to the company. A manager must take time to fully develop and implement a plan based on positive influence. This is accomplished through self-analysis, daily efforts in role modeling and instilling positive behaviors in workers. These types of initiatives create a motivated and dedicated team. Positive Behaviors Assess yourself critically in terms of your own positive behavior. For this reason this time we are given (one year) we must use our energy, creativity, knowledge, and experience to enhance the three factors mentioned above. Creating a Plan for Positive Influence

...Creating a Plan for Positive Influence Organizational Leadership / LDR531 When we work in a group towards a common goal in business there are some obvious advantages to not working on a project alone. “Groups are an excellent vehicle for performing many of the steps in the decision-making process and offer both breadth and depth of input for information gathering. If group members have diverse backgrounds, the alternatives generated should be more extensive and the analysis more critical. When the final solution is agreed on, there are more people in a group decision to support and implement it.” (Robbins & Judge, 2011, p. 295) To have an effective team you have to have as much diversity as you possibly can to avoid the possibility of having every member thinking the same way and not getting the best possible outcome. The more input you have from people with different opinions the more you can have open discussion and group members teaching and learning from each other while bringing up options that you would have never come up with otherwise. This doesn’t come easy of course; every member of our team working on this project is coming from different backgrounds and has their own set of values. This is a breeding ground for conflict but it doesn’t have to be the end to effective collaboration and the potential to achieve the goal of the group. According to "Resolving Team Conflict" (1996-2013), “Conflict can be constructive as long as it is managed and dealt...
