Dear Ms. Sandusky,
I am sending this letter in regards to a promotion by your company. In the ad, it stated we would receive free sample products. However, when I called your company I was asked to give my credit card number. It was only after I received the items that I was made aware what the arrangement truly was. It has since come to my attention that a mistake has been made concerning a payment taken from my account.
When I first read your ad, I wanted to believe I had nothing to lose. Unfortunately, I was mistaken. I ordered several sample items on January 11. These included an insulated lunch sack, a portable power strip, and two garment-dyed sweatshirts. When I received your products, it was then I was notified I had to pay for the sample items if I decided to keep them. After further observation and consideration, I decided to return the products.
On February 5, I received my credit card statement and noticed a charge of $258.20 from your company. I called immediately and spoke to Virginia. She assured me multiple times that the money would be credited back to my account, and that I should expect to see the credit on my next statement. I received my next statement March 3 and did not see the credit. Again I called, this time speaking to Melissa, who again assured me the money would be credited to my account. It is now April, and upon receiving my latest bank statement, I have still not received the credit I was promised.
I have to say I am very pleased with your customer service department. Both representatives were very kind and tried to understand my issue as much as they could. They also made sure the request to have the credit

Recent Banking Sector Reform in Nigeria–Implications for Employees

...According to Nigerian business journalist, Dayo Coker(2010): “It was simply greed and destructive capitalism.” He continued: “There was a chance to make millions and people seized it. The regulators failed the people.” Long before they failed the people, however, Nigeria's regulators inspired them with a plan to overhaul their convoluted banking system, and open Nigerian finance to the world. In 2005, then-Central Bank Governor Chukwuma Soludo whittled down Nigeria's 89 small-scale banks to a handy 25. The new banks born of Soludo's consolidation were bigger, broader in scope and had much more credit to lend — but fewer checks on how to lend it. That's where the problems began. “The people trying to do that process didn't realize they were creating mammoth institutions without really taking the time to double check the new freedoms offered to those in charge,” said economist Adama Gaye, chairman of Newforce Africa Consultants in Senegal. Soludo's consolidation worked, at first. The simplified...

Nordstrom Case

...Nordstrom In the assigned case, we are introduced to Nordstrom – a successful line of department stores who hold customer service as a priority, and encourage employees to develop their own client bases while working the field. Customer satisfaction is essentially the backbone of Nordstrom’s business model, which is also its key success indicator. The potential challenge in this model is the perception of unfair hours worked vs. pay of some of its employees. One way that Nordstrom is presented to distinguish themselves as an organization is by encouraging an environment where employees are the face and brand of the company. Through training of “the Nordstrom Way” values, employees are given the freedom to handle situations as they see fit. They are encouraged to “use [their] best judgment in all situations” and “do whatever it takes to make the customer happy”. In that case, policies seem to instill a sense of trust and ownership amongst employees, which in turn may give each employee a sense of leadership and worth in the company. Such freedom however is limited to managerial positions and higher. Nordstrom pays its salespeople on a commission system that is personalized to each salesperson’s abilities, length of employment with the company, as well as their sales per hour (SPH). They are paid in a “draw” system where they will receive the higher of their commission percentage x total sales, or their hourly rate x total work hours. It would appear that Nordstrom is thereby...

The workers are referred to as WestJetters a term which I believe gives them a sense of ownership, responsibility and accountability for their work. The customers who use WestJet are referred to as guests. It also appears that the WestJetters find their job exciting which often increases job satisfaction and motivation. All new employees participate in an “on-boarding orientation that provides an overview of the company and its culture. Union Trade in Malaysia

...RIGHTS OVERVIEW OF THE ISSUE Malaysia Airlines (MAS), a government linked company continues to violate worker and trade union rights. Recently, MAS commenced disciplinary action against Mohd Akram bin Osman, the Secretary General of the National Union of Flight Attendants Malaysia (NUFAM), and 30 other NUFAM members. The show cause letter date on or about 14/2/2014 asked why disciplinary action should not be taken against them by reason of their participation in an ‘illegal’ gathering on 27/11/2013 at the Ministry of Human Resources in Putrajaya. The National Union of Flight Attendants Malaysia (NUFAM) is a registered trade union, and it had sought recognition from Malaysia Airlines, the employer of the some of its members. Recognition is a legal requirement in Malaysia before an employer can be compelled to sit down, negotiate and agree to a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). When MAS rejected the application, the Director General of Industrial Relations (DGIR) conducted a secret ballot which involved all qualified employees, NUFAM succeeded in getting 62.73% of the votes, and thereafter on August 2013, the DGIR issued the formal letter acknowledging NUFAM as a recognized union. It must be noted that in Malaysian law, MAS, as employer, would had to agree on the list of qualified employees entitled to vote before the secret ballot, and as such challenging the result and the subsequent recognition of the union is bad. CHRONOLOGIES On 4/10/2013, MAS challenged the...
