My Dream Job
There is nothing more frustrating that waking up in the morning and going to work, but when you wake up to do what you love then you not working you are enjoying yourself. My dream job is to be a Register Nurse, ever since I was a little girl I dream of being a nurse to help people. Register Nurse is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program at a college or university and has passed a national licensing exam. As a child I always play that I was the nurse and my cousins and brothers were my patients. I would provide care and medication to make them feel better: stickers were bandages and water or juice was the medication. It feels good helping others in need and it’s a pleasure to feel needed.

Creating a job description and specifications for your dream job.
When creating my dream job I need to know the basic functions of my job description and job specifications. Job description is a lists of tasks, duties and responsibilities that a particular job entails (Denisi /Griffin, 2012). A job specification focuses more on the individual who will perform the job, which indicate the knowledge, abilities, skills and other characteristics (Denisi/ Griffin, 2012). These are some of the job description and specification with this profession as registered nurses that I will typically be responsible in order to perform my job: * Record patients' medical histories and symptoms * Give patients medicines and treatments * Set up plans for patients’ care or contribute to existing plans * Observe patients and record the observations * Consult with doctors and other healthcare professionals * Operate and monitor medical equipment * Help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results * Teach patients and their families how to manage their illnesses or injuries * Explain what to do at home after treatment
Most register nurse’s work with a specialized team of physicians and other health care providers to educate the public of symptoms and disease (BLS, 2013). Working as a register nurse I know that I will be enjoying what I do and know that this job will be for a long time because there is always need to help others. Employment is also expected to grow 26 percent from 2010 to 2020; this occupation will be growing faster than any other occupation manly because of the advancement with technology (BLS, 2013). People are living longer because they are taking care of their health wiser by exercising and eating healthy.

Design a compensation and benefits package related to your dream job.
The compensation and benefits is a major driver in the success of my dream job. “Compensation is the set of rewards that a organizations provide to individuals in return for their willingness to perform various jobs and task within the organization” (Denisi/ Griffin, 2012).Having compensation and benefits are a key of elements, compensation is no longer just about the negotiated salary figure. Compensation includes many other potential cash and noncash components. “Benefits are the various rewards, incentives, and other items of value that an organization provides to its employees beyond wages, salaries, and other forms of financial compensation” (Denisi/ Griffin, 2012). Can have a dream job if I don’t have a salary, for performing my dream job I would pay myself around $80000 annually. As for my dream job these will be the compensation and benefits that I will be desired in order to be success at my dream job: * Salary * Retirement plan (401K) * Stock Options * Flexible Schedules * Health and Life Insurances * Paid Vacation (4 weeks) / Sick days (8) / FMLA (12 weeks) * Education / Experience Pay * Wellness Programs * Day Care * Bonuses (time off, quarterly incentives and yearly increase on salary)

I selected these compensation and benefits for my dream job because of the implementation of the professional practices that is perform in nursing. This is an importance’s on pay for performance and pay based on knowledge and skills. Becoming a nurse takes time, dedication and passion for others, also 4 or plus years of learning experiences and knowledge which it has it price. The reason to this salary will be because I will have been invested in myself in getting a bachelor degree that took me 4yrs to complete plus certification and continue education every year to be updated with new regulations and medications. Also I feel as bilingual nurses I would be able to help non-English speaking people and it would be a plus for me. The median wage for a register nurses in May of 2010 was $64690 (BLS, 2013).
In order to be hire as a nurse, I need to have a nursing license issues by the state that I will be working. In order to become licensed, I must have graduate from an approval nursing program and pass the National Council Licensure Examination, or NCLEX-RN (BLS, 2013). In my dream job injuries could also happen preventing me from work or my daily activities for example: due to the heavy lifting of patients, bending, stretching, walking and standing. I will be vulnerable to back injuries. Due to the work of a nurse they are in contact with people who have been infected with diseases, which are constantly in contact with harmful and hazardous drugs, register nurses need to follow standardized guidelines to keep them against disease and other dangers like radiation, needle sticks, chemicals used when sterilizing instruments (BLS,2013) . A nurses need to be cautions and be alert at all the time because if not could suffer from these unwanted injuries. That is why I created this compensation and benefit packages because it is a job that is worth paying for.
Imagine this is the only position of its kind in the organization. From this perspective, design a performance appraisal program to assess your job performance. Through the assessment of performances appraisals, an individual can identify and define how their performance, their job and the action to plan to improve and develop their performance. A “performance appraisal is the specific and formal evaluation of an employee to determine the degree to which the employee is performing his or her job effectively” (Denisi / Griffin, 2012). My performance appraisal for my dream job will be conducted by the graphic rating scale. Utilizing this type of graphic rating scale method of measurement the individual assessment capita and goals can be achieved. The graphic rating scale consists of a statement or question about the individual’s job performance. Also with this method if rating the common set of responses is strongly agree, agree, neither agree nor disagree, disagree and strongly disagree is plain and simple (Denisi / Griffin, 2012). As a register nurse time is sacred some many things could happen when you open and closed your eyes. Some of these factors related to the performance appraisal that must be included are as follow: * The amount of work load complete on time * Independence * A working knowledge of the task at hand * Attendances * Accuracy in work and cooperation
The concept is to attain an indication of performance to agree of achievement and completion of task, consisting of one individual; furthermore, it is a reflection of how satisfy the individual requirements of the job. The whole purposes of the appraisal is to measure the nurses efficiency, competency and effectiveness in the job perform and make improvements in the overall performances. Also I would have performances appraisal on an ongoing basis providing feedback on the spot when incidents happen. I like constructive feedback because I love learning and every day will be a learning experience for me.
Rationalize your performance appraisal program. Be sure to indicate the research and considerations that went into the design of the performance appraisal program. The reason to this type of performances appraisal is because is one of the most popular and commonly used methods of performance appraisal. Organizations commonly use the graphic rating scale because the system is user friendly and can be a quick process. “Patients and family members expect nurses to demonstrate caring during their contact with patients. If caring is so important, it should be measured on the performance appraisal of registered nurse” (Carson, 2004). The scale typically features a bar or line scale from 1-3, 1-5, and so on. An example of a 1-3 rating could include responses such as: 1: poor, 2: average and 3: outstanding (Denisi / Griffin, 2012) . The rating system must be included on the chart, each of the long numerical form or digital from whichever is preferred by the organization. As a register nurse, I will be performance appraisal base if meeting the minimum requirement base on the job description and specifications, achieve the minimum requirements, the work of the disease, achieve more work than required and lead the work of superior. Due to the environmental factor of where the nurse work, something the performance appraisal would not affected them if machinery don’t work properly, inadequacy in facilities work and fixtures, lack of equipment, shift variations and the wavering extent of individual dedication to accept the necessary requirements and demand of the job. This is thing beyond the control of the employee and is not count against in any performance appraisal base on my dream job.
