For over the past one hundred and fifty years there has been an ongoing battle about evolution versus creation. Evolutionists believe we evolved over millions and millions of years; while creationists believe that God created us and the rest of the world in seven days. Both theories do seem quit absurd. People think there is no possible way we could have evolved from nothing. Still, other people believe there is no possible way God could have created us. Charles Darwin was a British scientist and the founder of evolutionism. Darwin was born and raised in a wealthy and well connected family. He started his higher education studying medicine, but half way through transferred to divinity at Cambridge. In 1831, he joined a five year scientific expedition. On this expedition he started studying and observing things, and thus the idea of evolution was born. Evolution is the theory that everything descended from a common ancestor. Everything that has life, trees, flowers, bears, fish, humans – they’re all related. Charles Darwin, the founder of evolution, believed strongly in natural selection. He thought that animals, by natural selection, could practically change into a whole new species of animals. Darwin stated that this process takes long periods of time. He said it can’t just happen overnight, rather it takes millions of years for this to take place. Evolution, just like creation, is considered a theory; since it hasn’t been proven to be factual. No one was there when things began to form, or when creatures started to evolve from smaller life forms into bigger things. There were no witnesses when the first dinosaur finished evolving from a smaller reptile or when the first human finished evolving from an ape. Still today, there are plenty of monkeys, gorillas, and apes running...

Evolution vs Creation

...ISU Controversial Issues in World Religions Evolution vs. Creation In society, there are many diverse issues that raise intense controversy. One that is particularly interesting is the ongoing conflict between the world of science and some segments of religious society. This essay will refer to the debate between evolution and creationism which has ranged through the course of human history, but intensified as the science and evolving proofs of evolution are generated. Evolution has proved that Creationist beliefs and their denial defy logic, science and reality. One of the most common questions that humanity tends to ask itself is where we came from and how we came to be. It is inherent to every human being to ask himself about their origin and purpose of their existence. Humanity’s first attempt to answer these questions was religion (Christianity, Judaism, Islamic); however science has introduced an alternative to religion’s so called answer, evolution. The current argument began with an English naturalist by the name of Charles Darwin. Darwin was the first to propose the theory of evolution, which states that mankind, through genetic mutation and natural selection, evolved from a common ancestor over a prolonged period based on natural selection processes. This theory directly defied religious beliefs at the time; more specifically those of the Catholic church which believes in creationism, or in a more general sense intelligent design.......

Creation vs Evolution

...Creationism vs. Evolution It is an interesting phenomenon to me when I think of how public schools are mandated to teach evolution in their classrooms and not creationism. It not only seems discriminatory to one view of thinking but when compared scientifically, the theory of creation seems to offer far more logic than its counterpart. Here are some of the basic views for each category: Evolution • Life forms came about from a big bang • Creatures are ever evolving beings • Man evolved from an ape Creationism • A higher being, (God) created all life forms • Mankind was made in the image of God • God sustains all life forms. From the time I was in kindergarten I have always heard compelling arguments about the pros and cons of each belief but it was not until I took a class in Human Anatomy and Physiology, (A&P) that I was truly able to confirm that we are complex creatures made and sustained by a higher being. When one considers how organs work in perfect harmony with each other, maintaining a state of equilibrium, it is mind boggling. I will attempt to portray why I believe the theory of Creationism makes more sense than the theory of Evolution. One of the many studies I embraced in my A&P class was the contraction of a muscle. Sounds like a simple, non-complex activity right? That is until you find out what actions have to take place in order for a contraction to take place. The first activity that has to take place in order for a muscle to......

Creation vs. Evolution

...Creation vs. Evolution What do you believe in? In creation which explains that we were created by God or in evolution that explains that creatures evolve from one simplistic ancestors naturally overtime and emphasizes that we came from an ape. Almost everyone ask “How people originate?” “Who or maybe what created us?” and every one wonders, if people came from an ape and were just evolved, where did the tail go? We all want to know the answer to both of those questions. This has been a controversial issue and has been fought for many years until now. Although there are several ideas, many argues over two of them. According to what I have read, creation as documented in the Bible in Genesis 1: 1 – 2: 25 states that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth and goes on to describe how in six days God created the plants, the animals, the sun, the moon, the stars and the human being. It shows that God created the universe and all living things out of love, in a particular order, and with a particular purpose for six days and he rest in the seventh day. While evolution is a gradual process in which something changes into a different and usually more complex or better form. Charles Darwin proposed a theory, now called the “Theory of Evolution”, stating that animals differentiated into species when the survivors of a changing environment were able to pass their genetic traits to their offspring. Specifically, “Creation” is supported by religion which explains that......

Creation vs Evolution

...the Bible and evolution clashes, why is the knowledge of the Doctrine of Creation is important to understand?” THEO 525 LUO (fall 2013) Systematic Theology I Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary October 11, 2013 Creation and Evolution clashes, when there are changes being made to the age of the earth and the creation of man. The structure is described in the Bible as God created it; however, it describes the earth before the six days of creation. When thinking about the integration of evolutionary principles, as far as the scientific laws are concerned, there is no difference between the origin of the earth and all of its life. Could the Big Bang theory have happened? The Gap Theory, everything made out of nothing. Is the Gap Theory real? Luther sided with the Bible and creation, is his blessing relevant today? Was the earth created out of nothing, no previous atoms did God use? God created the heavens and the earth in six days so we had the seventh day for Shabbat. The Progressive Creation explains the Genesis flood and the six days of creation. So the question is could God really have created everything in six literal days? If so, where did the origins of life come from; and what about the Law of Nature, their survival of the fittest? How big is the rift between the evolutionist and the creationist? Can we trust the Bible to tell us the truth? These are the questions that I will be looking for an answer to. In evolution and creation of......

Plato's Gay Is an What Even If?

...Evolution vs. Creation: The Great Debate The Evolution vs. Creation debate is often referred to as the "Great Debate." It's the emotion-packed question of "Origins" -- why, how, and where did everything come from? 20th century science has made the compelling discovery that, at some point, the universe began. Both sides of the Great Debate now agree that the universe has not existed eternally. However, this is where the agreement ends. As far as the "why" and "how" of the "origin event," this is where the division and contention begin. There are two basic theories in this Great Debate. The first is the historical default - the Creation Model of Origins. This theory maintains that the intricate design permeating all things implies a Designer. The second theory is the more recent, atheistic explanation - the Evolution Model of Origins. This theory postulates that the intricate design permeating all things is a product of random chance and excessive time. Evolution vs. Creation: The Contentions Evolution vs. Creation is indeed the Great Debate of our scientific times. In any scientific debate, the theories must be tested according to the evidence. We propose that the burden of evidence should be upon the Evolutionists, since Creation has been the historic and inherent default throughout virtually all cultures and religions until roughly the last 200 years. Of course, Evolutionists, who view themselves as the only "scientists" in the debate, insist that the burden of evidence be......

Creationists vs Evolution

...of origin arise? The components of evolution might explain how, but Creation gives a reason to believe why. Origin of life’s existence, as well as age of the earth is a question that is looked under a microscope and probed through both biblical theories, as well as scientific. Looking at difference evidence, acceptance of creation is growing even in spite of scientists trying to prove evolution. Within this paper, there will be different pieces of evidence and facts supporting each theory and there will be an argument, within my conclusion, on which theory I support. The theory of creation can be explained through various books in the bible. Creationists use the Bible as the truth for which they believe the origin of life came into existence. In bible studies and bible school, we were taught that God took clay from the ground which he shaped to a man that he called Adam. A verse in the King James Version, of the Bible, mentions “and the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Then, the Lord made a garden as Adam’s place of residency. There are pictures of beautiful trees and animals that were created to accompany Adam, only one thing was missing, a woman. A woman was to provide and care for Adam. I was taught that God took a rib from Adam and made a woman from this. The next morning, there was a woman who accompanied Adam. Next, the theory of creation can be explained through...

Teaching Creation and Evolution in Schools

...Teaching Creation and Evolution in Schools Why are we here? Many people ask that question at some point in their life. The answers are different no matter who ask. Some people believe a higher power created the universe and our purpose here is to serve that higher power. Others say we exist because of the Big Bang and our purpose for living is to survive. The first theory for this is known as creationism. The other is evolution and most schools have encouraged this. Why is one not right and the other false? Is there no balance between these two issues? The lack of evidence makes creationism hard to believe, and many holes in the evolution link makes that hard to believe. Theories of human evolution cause disagreements. Each theory has its own evidence to prove that its right, but lack of enough evidence to prove the others errors. Most of the theories that try to explain the human existence are labeled as creation theory, naturalistic evolution theory and theistic evolution theory. Naturalistic evolution theory states that evolution is a force and not controlled by a god, goddess or some other type of deity. Theistic evolution is a combination of both creation and naturalistic theories. To understand the struggle between creationism and evolution you must first understand creationism. Creationism is the theory that all life was created by God. In the book of Genesis you will find the story when God formed man from the dust of the ground. God also......

Do you see any reasons why they should not be so optimistic? What are the potential future pitfalls they should be watching out for? (150 -200 words) I think that Burger Barn executives may be “counting their chickens before hatching,” for they are looking at the lack of efficiency and the fact that customers would wait for 10 minutes. They should not be so optimistic about the company moving forward in a great way because they are forcing their employees to work harder and faster, which reminds me of Frederick Taylor’s “Theory of Scientific Management,” which he was adamant about “time and motion.” Employees want to feel appreciated and may have enjoyed taking their time......

Creationism vs. Evolutionism

...In the history of science vs. religion there has been no issues more intensely debated than evolution vs. creationism. In the age old debate of creationism versus evolution, many people have given their lifelong work to supporting one side of this debate. But what we must consider are the facts. Theories will only get us so far in life, but the facts, the hard evidence, will convince a doubting person to believe if they will only consider the evidence. Through my research I hope to uncover that very evidence to show those who still doubt the real truth. Creation and Evolution are two major beliefs that people follow as a guideline. The two philosophies have different effects on our lives and the make-up of who we are and what we believe. Creation is a belief followed by many people and generally speaking the Holy Bible serves as a guideline and a set of instructions to show how the earth was formed and to guide us through life. Science backs up this Holy Book it is a very reliable source of the history of the world. There are many questions in life that man has always longed to find the answers to and the questions are: Who am I, why am I here, how did everything get here, and where will I go when I die? Well if you believe in evolution then you came from non-living material that all came together from the big bang. There is no purpose to life, you have no one to answer to, so if it feels good than do it and when you die then you will be recycled into a plant. We......

Original Creation of Earth

...Original Creation of the Earth (The Big Bang vs. Six-Day Creation) TANITKA C. SMITH PHSC210_A24_201240 Debora Ladner December 3, 2012 INTRODUCTION The Big-Bang Theory, accepted widely by atheists and many scientists, simply says this: between 10 and 20 billion years ago a “bang” or explosion occurred from a single point in nothingness and with the scattering of googles of atoms, the earth came into being. An eruption of sorts occurred, haphazardly distributing the smallest particles of matter that miraculously adjoined themselves to create living, breathing organisms and every other object on the earth. Every word of the Bible is true. Every day, creation scientists are finding more and more evidence to support the six days of creation. There is nothing wrong with science, but in the end it is the fallible word of man. YOUNG EARTH At its simplest, evolution is a hypothesis which claims that all life has descended with modification from a primitive single celled organism in the remote past. The development has been one of increasing complexity. Originally, the first cell evolved from a preexisting organic “soup” in a primeval ocean, which in turn developed from chance conglomerations of inorganic chemicals. Ultimately, these chemicals themselves were produced by the “Big Bang” origin of the actual universe. Against overwhelming evidence it is said that the Big Bang happened billions of years ago, and gives argument that the earth and the universe......

Compare & Contrast

...Jubin John Ms. Diomande Compare & Contrast Final Draft 10/22/14 Creation vs. Evolution Today many scientists would have to believe that evolution is the only reasonable explanation of the universe. Scientists, like Stephen Hawking, claim that they proved that evolution is the only correct answer to the origins of life and the universe, yet evolution  is a theory proposed by scientists to explain the origin of all species. Evolution is not the only answer but in fact, the creation theory is based on the bible and that God created the universe. This is the idea of creationism which is supported by religion. Creationism offers a more credited answer to the development of the universe than the evolutionary theory because creation has the support of the bible. To make a decision on which theory is more appealing to them, people must choose either religion or science. The creation theory is solely based on the bible. The Bible, in fact, is actually one of the most proven books in history. Creationism is the theory that God created the universe and it's creatures in six days. For example, in Genesis 2:7 it states "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters". The Bible is not considered a science book, but many consider it to be scientifically correct. For instance, the Old Testament is quoted in several......

Creationism vs. Transformism

...Creationism vs. Transformism During the first week of September, prior to reading chapter 5, Evolution and Genetics, a friend by the name of Joan and I got into a long conversation about the creation of earth and the existence of god. We talked about how the earth was created according to the Catholic belief and slowly an argument unraveled. Apparently, Joan did not believe in evolution and thought I was nuts! The idea that man and woman were created from god’s hands and dirt was not something I could possibly believe. I started to explain to him about Charles Darwin’s ideas on evolution and how I thought that quite frankly; we were not created in seven days. That conversation ended because he did not want to listen to anything that did not have anything to do with god. Two days later, I finally open up our textbook and turned to the assigned reading homework: chapter 5. As I began to read, I learned that the idea that life was created in 6 days was called Creationism. I then logged onto to my laptop to do further research on this idea and of course the first thing I stumbled upon was a website called creationtheory.org. In this website, it stated that there was a fossil finding in Kenya that dated back between 2 to 3.5 billion years ago. Researchers suggest that the fossil is unlikely to be of our human kind but rather our ancestor. It then began to point out that creationists could not believe in these findings because humans were fully developed at creation. As I......

Creationism V. Evolutionism

...Creationism vs. Evolutionism The quandary continues of whether or not creationism should be taught as an alternative viewpoint to the theory of evolution within the American public school systems. If scientific creationists believe that God's message is the defining element for the content, aims, and conditions of educational practice, then the argument can be made that creationism belongs in the classroom. On the contrary are those who assert creationism is not science and further suggests that "creation science" is a misnomer and oppose religion into public educational programs. They maintain the position that public educational programs should be made separate from concerns of the church. Fundamentalist Christians differ from liberal Christians with respect to the basic theories to how life began. Liberal Christians mold their lives around the theory of evolution; forging their spiritual doctrine around their lifestyle, where as fundamentalist Christians remain faith based; life created by God and their lifestyle strictly follows biblical doctrine. Those who side with the theory of Darwin and claim that creationism is really anti-science are in direct conflict with adamant creationists; and somewhere among these groups are a third group, scientific creationists, who use scientific terminology to prove that only life can come from other life. During the 1960’s the United States began an initiative to catch up with newer science teaching standards......

The Higgs Boson’s Conflict with Theology

...with Theology Klynton Rhodes Georgia Southern University The Higgs Boson’s conflict with Theology A scientific discovery is also a religious discovery. There is no conflict between science and religion. Our knowledge of God is made larger with every discovery we make about the world. –Joseph H. Taylor Jr, God Evidence According to Steve Paulson (2010) “The debate over science and religion is like catnip for anyone wanting to spout off about the improbability of God or the arrogance of scientists”(p.1). Since I was young I remember being told that no matter what I learned in science class about evolution, or the big bang, that God was real. According to Dr. Agustin Fuentes of Psychology today “There are some factions of Christianity whose leaders (and thus their followers) express adamant opposition to “evolution” and this is often used as the key example in the science vs. religion conflict.” Examples of controversial scientific discoveries such as cloning, and genetic manipulation, are considered to be inhumane. In my opinion God created science for humans to better understand the world he created, and according to Steve Paulson (2010) Albert Einstein shared my belief demonstrated when he stated “ Science without religion is lame; religion without science is blind” (p.3). It is well known that some people believe that the universe was started with the big bang as well as the subsequent reactions that followed. This brings into the discussion the Higgs Boson more......
