Creationism

“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” This passage from Genesis 1:27 of the Bible, is a perfect example of why I believe in Creationism. I believe in creationism for many different reasons and evidence to support this theory lies in the passages inside the Holy Bible. I believe in creationism for several different reasons. First off, I have always been exposed to this theory growing up and going to church, so I picked up on the information and decided to start believing in it as well because it seemed like a legitimate reason for why humans are on the earth today. I believe in this theory because the Bible tells me to. The Bible says at least 33 times that God created categories of life each “after his kind”. From my own personal experience is only one reason why I think creationism is why humans are on earth. A second reason why I believe in creationism is because there is an immense amount of proof recorded in the Bible. Isaiah 45:12 reads like this: “I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.” Another reliable bible verse is Colossians 1:16: “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.” Additionally, Genesis 2:4 states a great fact: “These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.” Finally, Genesis 1:28 provides great evidence of creationism: And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the seas, and over the fowl of

Creationism

...“Creationism, as told in genesis is the better theory of explaining human life than evolution”. Today I am here to defend my Christian position on the creation of life in opposition to evolutionary scientific theory. I will like to begin by explaining that As a Christian we are compelled by faith by the exterior force that created life. We refer to this force as God and his son Jesus Christ who is our Lord and Savior. We rebuke scientific evolutionary theory fabricated by man. For us Christians we seek for the truth in the word of God, which is the Bible, and the ultimate source of truth and knowledge. The opening statement of the book of Genesis 1:1 reads as follow ” In the Beginning God created the heaven and Earth” (King). Here is evidence that prove that the Supreme Being, which is God, is the only and unique basis of the creation of universe. It does not emphasize on the beginning of God, as there is not beginning or end to the existence of God. But, rather it tells us about the beginning of time and the creation of earth, as well as the environment in which we live. The book of Genesis explains in specific details how the sequence of events developed. The word of God is not a fictional source of entertainment like Charles Darwin’s book “ On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection”. Although evolutionary theory is an opposition of the biblical account of creation we believe the Bible provides an accurate account that explains the creation of the earth and...

Creationism

...Bobby Rappach 11-1-12 Mr. Boyle Creationism The concept of Creationism has been around since a monotheistic Abrahamic God. It is nothing more than a literal interpretation of the creation story of Genesis as a basis for the creation of everything in the universe. Until the early 1500’s it was the common belief that the world was flat and this is one the only exceptions that creationist sects have excepted when it comes to modern day science along with the earth not being the center of the universe. Today’s definition can be understood as Christianity and Catholicism until the years surrounding 1500AD. Even after such discoveries it had a large amount of belief compared to new scientific discoveries. As scientific advances over the past 500 years have explained more mysteries, more and more different sects of creationism have come to be. Each sect has a certain set of scientific facts that they accept as being true, and use their own type of science to prove modern scientific findings to be incorrect. The most extreme sect of creationism that I will be focusing on is Young- Earth Creationism (YEC). The Earth to them in term of age is somewhere between 5,700 to 10,000 years old and either rejects or has an alternative version of every science. Many ancient calendars throughout time have recorded the world dating back to as early as 5500BC, and this history merged with the creation story leads to claims of times before humans being able to write is nonexistent. Theory of Creationism

...Does the DNA data regarding human evolution and human migrations conflict with the "Theory of Creationism"? Creationism is the religious belief that a higher power created the animals and everything that exists today through supernatural intervention. Religious beliefs, such as creationism, have to be accepted on faith and cannot be tested or investigated. Evolution is a gradual process in which something changes into a different and usually more complex or better form. Conflicts between Evolution and Creationism occur when evolutionists argue that creationism is not a scientific theory because it cannot be tested by the scientific method, whereas creationists argue that evolutionists do not take God into account and that evolution is just a theory rather than a fact. Science requires that a hypothesis or theory should be testable and supported by physical evidence, whereas religion requires acceptance of a doctrine or belief without analysis or judgment. For this reason, conflicts between evolution and creationism can never be resolved. DNA testing has shown that humans and chimpanzees have a 98-percent genetic similarity, providing overwhelming evidence that apes and humans have a common ancestry. Scientists are willing to accept these results as evidence that man is a specific type of ape, but this is what creationists find most revolting, since they believe that "God created man in his own image", as stated in Genesis 1:27. Explain your position or perspective(s) and...

Creationism V. Evolutionism

...Creationism vs. Evolutionism The quandary continues of whether or not creationism should be taught as an alternative viewpoint to the theory of evolution within the American public school systems. If scientific creationists believe that God's message is the defining element for the content, aims, and conditions of educational practice, then the argument can be made that creationism belongs in the classroom. On the contrary are those who assert creationism is not science and further suggests that "creation science" is a misnomer and oppose religion into public educational programs. They maintain the position that public educational programs should be made separate from concerns of the church. Fundamentalist Christians differ from liberal Christians with respect to the basic theories to how life began. Liberal Christians mold their lives around the theory of evolution; forging their spiritual doctrine around their lifestyle, where as fundamentalist Christians remain faith based; life created by God and their lifestyle strictly follows biblical doctrine. Those who side with the theory of Darwin and claim that creationism is really anti-science are in direct conflict with adamant creationists; and somewhere among these groups are a third group, scientific creationists, who use scientific terminology to prove that only life can come from other life. During the 1960’s the United States began an initiative to catch up with newer science teaching standards which...

Creationism vs. Evolution

...Creationism VS. Evolution “Why evolution should be taught in public schools” by Laura H. Kahn discusses how evolution being taught in the public school system is essential to our future in science and medicine. Kahn discusses how the theory of evolution has come to be over the many years of research and experimentation by many famous scientists, she also talks about the uphill battle it has been for the theory of evolution to be taught in the public school system because “certain segments of society insist that religious doctrine, masquerading as science, be taught instead. Laura presents her audience with the facts that in the nineteenth century theory of spontaneous generation, the theory that proposed that life could emerge from nonliving material, was the main theory of evolution back then. How ever a French chemist, Louis Pasteur, would try to disprove the theory through his discovery that yeasts were responsible for making wine palatable and bacteria was responsible for turning wine bad. He also discovered through the use of silkworms that microbes caused their illness and death. She states that Pasteur saw the connection between microbes, fermentation, putrefaction, and disease. She claims that his biggest challenge however was to try to convince the scientific community to accept is idea. She backs up her statement with bringing to our attention that at the same time Pasteur was pushing his theory a scientist by the name of Felix-Archimede claimed he had successfully...

Creationism vs. Evolutionism

...In the history of science vs. religion there has been no issues more intensely debated than evolution vs. creationism. In the age old debate of creationism versus evolution, many people have given their lifelong work to supporting one side of this debate. But what we must consider are the facts. Theories will only get us so far in life, but the facts, the hard evidence, will convince a doubting person to believe if they will only consider the evidence. Through my research I hope to uncover that very evidence to show those who still doubt the real truth. Creation and Evolution are two major beliefs that people follow as a guideline. The two philosophies have different effects on our lives and the make-up of who we are and what we believe. Creation is a belief followed by many people and generally speaking the Holy Bible serves as a guideline and a set of instructions to show how the earth was formed and to guide us through life. Science backs up this Holy Book it is a very reliable source of the history of the world. There are many questions in life that man has always longed to find the answers to and the questions are: Who am I, why am I here, how did everything get here, and where will I go when I die? Well if you believe in evolution then you came from non-living material that all came together from the big bang. There is no purpose to life, you have no one to answer to, so if it feels good than do it and when you die then you will be recycled into a plant. We supposedly...

Darwinism Vs Creationism Essay

...this happened. One is the belief in creationism, which is the idea that there is a god that created the whole universe out of free will. The other belief is in darwinism, which is that the universe came from evolution and purely science. Both of these beliefs cannot be 100% proven and everybody has their own opinion on what they believe to be true. Creationism is the belief of some sort of creator, that somebody made up everything in the universe. This theory is based on faith and the ideas of the theory come from the bible mostly from the book of Genesis. Here it says that God created the earth in seven days. One of the biggest differences between the two is that with creationism, everything has a purpose. Creationism says that God created everything on purpose so that one thing leads to another and everything co-exists. There is also evolutionary creationism which is understanding the process of evolution but believing that God was involved as well. This is not a scientific theory but shows that the two theories can go hand in hand. With the belief that everything has a purpose there is the...

Why Creationism Should Be Taught in Schools

...April 24th, 2014 Why Creationism Should be Taught in Schools Evolution is believed to have been scientifically proven, but really it’s not. It is only a theory. If Evolution is only a theory, why is it the only theory being taught in our schools today? Creationism is another theory about how the world was created. It is just as valid as an idea as evolution, so why is only one theory being taught in our classrooms? Creationism should be taught alongside Evolution because students should be able to think on their own and decide what theory to believe. Both theories cannot be proven, so why not teach different perspectives? Evolution is not a fact, just theory and hypothesis. It is a belief. Some may even say, a faith. It might seem that people claim that creationism is religious doctrine, and it is, but evolution is just as religious as creationism. Both cannot be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Both take faith to believe them to be true. So creationism is just as valid as Evolution. Creationism came from religious views, but not everyone believes in the same religions. Evolution is a worldwide concept that many people have come to believe but they may not been exposed to these religions. “Dr. Bergman then went on to add, ‘If schools are to be a place where students can debate important questions, it would seem that eliminating religious questions would shelter students from an important area of debate which is crucial for living a well-rounded life.’” (Edwords...

Should Creationism Be Taught In Schools Essay

...Creationism revolves around a religion, evolution comes from science. At least, that is what many scientists, atheists, and even religious affiliates believe. This causes an uprising in the highly debated topic of if creationism and evolution should be taught in publicly funded schools. Creationists are arguing that creationism is just as well an alternative to evolution and should be taught so that children are not put on a one track train to believing the world was created by a big bang. Evolutionists say that there is no true scientific evidence that “God did it all”, therefore creationism should not be taught as a science- or at all for that matter .Throughout three different articles used to persuade common people to believe one side of...

Assess The Difference Between Creationism And Evolution

...One of the ACLU’s main issues with teaching creationism and evolution in tandem is that it serves to mislead students and breaks down their understanding of scientific principles. Evolution is considered a theory, a fact many creationists site in their arguments, but it is essential to realize that it is a scientific theory or “an idea that has the broad explanatory power of a set of observations and which, importantly, has been corroborated by many, many independent studies using different kinds of data.” Creationism, on the other hand, is an untestable belief that is also referred to as a theory. Though the same word can be used to describe both perspectives, there is an obvious difference in the meaning that greatly impacts where and when...

Evolution in Our Public Schools - Outline Paper

...the courts since the Darwin Theory came along. Many issues have risen over the years since evolution was introduced to the world and into the school system. The questions of whether mankind evolved from a monkey or the way of creationism, that man was created by God as stated in the book of Genesis (Bible). Other issues that came up were with the teachers themselves and having to teach evolution in their biology classes, when not fully understanding evolution itself. In this essay we will discuss the arguments of evolution versus creationism that is being taught in our public schools and whether it is acceptable to teach evolution to our school children. II. Body paragraph # 1 – Topic Sentence # 1 The disputes of evolution started back in the late 19th century, some years after Charles Darwin came to the conclusion of linking human ancestry to lower animals by his evolution theory. This evolution of reasoning caused a stir in the public schools when it was put into the biology text books and required to be taught to the students. Some teachers had issues with teaching this because they themselves did not quit understand the theory of evolution. In addition, some of the teachers did not believe in this theory, rather, they believed in creationism, which is, God created man, as the Bible states in the book of Genesis. A. Supporting Evidence 1. As Everett Mendelsohn, James Moore, and Richard Milner...

...Acceptance of Evolution and Support for Teaching Creationism in Public Schools: The Conditional Impact of Educational Attainment JOSEPH O. BAKER Department of Sociology and Anthropology East Tennessee State University Public acceptance of evolution remains low in the United States relative to other Western countries. Although advocates for the scientific community often highlight the need for improved education to change public opinion, analyses of data from a national sample of American adults indicate that the effects of educational attainment on attitudes toward evolution and creationism are uneven and contingent upon religious identity. Consequently, higher education will only shift public attitudes toward evolution and away from support for teaching creationism in public schools for those who take non-“literalist” interpretive stances on the Bible, or to the extent that it leads to fewer people with literalist religious identities. Keywords: evolution, creationism, religious identity, education, science and religion, public policy. INTRODUCTION Acceptance of evolution and support for creationism has been publicly debated since the initial diffusion of Darwin’s theory about the origin of species, particularly in the United States (Numbers 1998, 2006). From before the infamous Scopes Trial (see Larson 1997) to the present, many Americans have resisted ideas about evolution, leading to a relatively low global ranking on public acceptance of the theory...

Compare & Contrast

...Draft 10/22/14 Creation vs. Evolution Today many scientists would have to believe that evolution is the only reasonable explanation of the universe. Scientists, like Stephen Hawking, claim that they proved that evolution is the only correct answer to the origins of life and the universe, yet evolution  is a theory proposed by scientists to explain the origin of all species. Evolution is not the only answer but in fact, the creation theory is based on the bible and that God created the universe. This is the idea of creationism which is supported by religion. Creationism offers a more credited answer to the development of the universe than the evolutionary theory because creation has the support of the bible. To make a decision on which theory is more appealing to them, people must choose either religion or science. The creation theory is solely based on the bible. The Bible, in fact, is actually one of the most proven books in history. Creationism is the theory that God created the universe and it's creatures in six days. For example, in Genesis 2:7 it states "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters". The Bible is not considered a science book, but many consider it to be scientifically correct. For instance, the Old Testament is quoted in several ancient manuscripts which includes the Dead Sea Scrolls. The Dead...

Can Evolution and Creation Co-Exist?

...Can Evolutionism and Creationism Co-exist? Is the teaching of evolution really corrupting the minds of children? Can you really talk about the two theories without cutting off the others head? These are questions that come to mind when thinking about the topic at hand. Evolutionism and creationism can be taught together in classes without any controversy because evolutionism can be tied into creationism in many ways. Almost everyone wonders if the world was really made and how it was made. Students everywhere also ask, “How did the human originate?” This is a huge controversy that has been fought for many years. Although there are many ideas, people mainly argue over two of them. The first theory is that people was created by God during his creation of the world; this is the idea of creationism. It is backed up by many religious people and religion itself. There is much turmoil on the broad topic of creationism and its place in American society. The big controversy of creationism versus evolutionism is a very large topic, something that has been made increasingly evident by the numerous books printed on the subject. Most evolutionist and creationist spend their time attempting to prove the other’s theory wrong; in one way or another, prove that theirs is the correct answer to the origins of life as we know it. I have no intent of diving into that raging battle, but would rather take a very different approach. Being raised in a religious household, I naturally have...
