Creativity HW1 As stated in the Creativity Crisis article, creativity is going down each year in America, which I don’t think is a good thing. We need creativity if we want to advance and succeed in the future. Without entrepreneurs nothing new would be created, or updated. We would live in a place where nothing really changes because we would have no advances. There would be no new versions of something, and this can be with both technology and medicine. I believe that it takes more than just intelligence to create the cure for cancer, people need imagination as well. “Researchers say creativity should be taken out of the art room and put into homeroom. The argument that we can’t teach creativity because kids already have too much to learn is a false trade-off. Creativity isn’t about freedom from concrete facts. Rather, fact-finding and deep research are vital stages in the creative process” (Bronson, Merryman). It was also stated in the Creativity Crisis article that the more creative a person is, the more they are able to use both sides of their brains at the same time, therefore being able to form ideas faster, and better. I think that educators need to not focus so much on making kids memorize things, and should focus more on them being creative, and making things, because that not only uses their minds, but also their hands, and it gets them more involved. Art and music should be way more intricated in the education system. Having classes that don’t just stress a kid out and cause major thinking can really benefit a child. It gets them actively involved, and can make learning better, motivate the student and even help with their concentration. I think having art programs will help fill the gap and get students more involved with their classes.
