I. Relevance of the Problem

* Kalakasan Ang pilosopiyang ito ni Mill ay makabubuti para sa lahat ngunit depende na lamang sa sitwasyon ng isang problema. Isang halimbawa ay ang pagpatay ng isang tao upang mailigtas ang tatlong katao, para kay Mill ito ay mabuti kahit na ito ay nakalalabag sa moralidad ng tao kung mas maraming tao naman ang makikinabang rito. Ang pilosopiyang ito ni Mill ay sumasang-ayon rin sa Death Penalty o ang pagpapataw ng parusang kamatayan sa isang indibiwal na nagkasala sa bayan ngunit maraming tao ang tutol sa batas na ito. Dahil nga ang Death Penalty ay ang pagpataw ng parusang kamatayan sa isang taong gumawa ng krimen, ang mga tao ay makikinabang dito sapagkat mapagbabayaran ng taong iyon ang kasalanan kanyang ginawa at mababawasan ang krimen o ang mga taong posibleng magdulot ng kapahamakan sa bansa. Ang pilosopiyang ito ay makatutulong rin upang masolusyunan ang isang komplikadong sitwasyon, dahil nga ang batayan nito ay ang kabutihan para sa lahat ang isang indibidwal ay hindi na lubos na mahihirapan magdesisyon kung ano nga ba ang nararapat na gawin.

* Kahinaan

Kaya’t papaano natin magagamit ang rule of the greatest happiness of the greatest happiness for the greatest number of people kung hindi natin matutukoy kung sino ang makikinabang.

* Kalakasan

Ayon kay Kant, “Act in such a way that you always treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of any other”.

...Game Journal 6 The school of criticism that made the most sense to me was by far the biographical critique. In my opinion the vast majority of the other critiques read as though the author was simply trying to find examples for that particular type of critique where there was probably very little intentioned meaning behind it. Some of the meaning behind the game that was analyzed seemed as though it was forced. The biographical critique, however, analyzes the author’s intent behind the game using quotes from the author himself. This lends more authority to the critique and prevented it from feeling as though meaningless aspects of the game were being critiqued. In the biographical critique for Katamari Damacy the critic uses the author’s own words to describe how the author intended the game to affect his audience. This is information straight from the source and thus allows for the game to be looked at in a new light. The author intended the game’s peaceful, fun, game that is almost devoid of conflict to brighten the lives of everyone that played it and thus make the world better. The critic in a more thorough analysis could then have described whether the game is successful in doing that, and if so by how much. The biographical critique provided the author’s motivations behind making the game. This is a strong basis on which to critique the game. Analyze the author’s intent behind making the game along with how well the game imparts the author’s message. By doing this...

Models Not Critics

...be wrong but my opinion on “Young people need models not critics” still holds. I do however slightly understand when adults want us to know right from wrong, and know to do the right thing. My problem with this is after or in some occasions before they preach to us about being the best we can be, they demonstrate the total opposite. Being part of the younger generation I’m not sure if I’m speaking for myself when I say we don’t need a how to. What we need are people who understand us and who demonstrate the things that they speak upon, rather than pointing fingers and demonstrating the opposite of which they speak. Adults aren’t perfect but if they’re able to critique the actions of the younger generation, they should be able to perform those same things they advised us to do better. Maybe its even better to not critique us, and once we...

...For more than a decade, with the explosion of modern technology, consumers have been approached and overwhelmed with multimedia advertising types and creative elements. This has brought not only a big concern about the effectiveness of traditional TV commercials but also many arguments over the time of TV commercials among many advertisers and marketers around the world. To address this matter, Jeri Smith, president and CEO of advertising research firm Communicus, has recently published an editorial called “Screen Time” in the Marketing Insights. In her piece of writing, she strongly supports the role of traditional TV commercials within an overall integrated advertising campaign which targets mass audiences and clearly points out that TV commercials just need to evolve. In order to convince her target audiences, advertisers and marketers, in her epideictic argument, Jeri analyzes and evaluates the power of TV commercials compared with non – traditional media types. She appeals her audiences by adopting logos with supporting facts and data, making her persuasion even more powerful. Jeri opens her analysis by giving us a thorough background of current marketplace and her key observation on the performance of the traditional TV commercials today: “Interestingly, the traditional TV commercial is still around today, with U.S. marketers spending nearly $80 billion per year on TV advertising.” (para 1). ...Exploring open kitchens’ impact on restaurateurs’ cleanliness perceptions SUMMARY Food safety is an important health issue. Consuming contaminated food or beverages can result in illness or death. Approximately 5,000 deaths occur from food-borne illnesses every year. There are many preventative measures that can be taken at home and in restaurants to avoid potentially hazardous foods. It is a discipline describing handling, preparation, and storage of food in ways that prevent foodborne illness. This includes a number of routines that should be followed to avoid potentially severe health hazards. The tracks within this line of thought are safety between industry and the market and then between the market and the consumer. In considering industry to market practices, food safety considerations include the origins of food including the practices relating to food labelling, food hygiene, food additives and pesticide residues, as well as guidelines for the management of governmental import and export inspection and certification systems for foods. In considering market to consumer practices, the usual thought is that food ought to be safe in the market and the concern is safe delivery and preparation of the food for the consumer. This study seeks to add knowledge in this area, studying restaurant operators’ perceptions of open and closed kitchens. Using semi-structured, face-to-face interviews, 20 restaurant managers and...
